Would still like to see another older veteran guy that feels that pass rush need there are still several veterans on the market

Lawson, Rosseau, Basham and Epenesa, with Miller returning eventually. If YOU were one of those available veterans would this situation  be attractive to you? Especially since Beane won't pay much more than minimum.

OT or MLB with first two picks

OT isn't a sexy pick  to me. If they want to improve upon Spencer Brown, and think a T available at 27 can replace Brown, sure.

Never good to Draft for need -especially so when you’re picking in the high 20’s. IF the mlb they like best with a 1st round grade is available, he’ll be a Bill. Otherwise, best player remaining on our board.

That is Beane's supposed strategy...I'm thinking Campbell is the best fit. Bills 2-LB set is kind of unique.

27 might seem high for some people. Moving back and hoping you can still grab him is risky,so take the guy you really want if he is still there at 27.

Cool, like him a lot, great news.

Unrelated here, but our punter was only on a one year deal, right?

    Anything on him?

Sorry, I have been out of the loop.

    Martin resigned for another year.

  4. Fill the NEEDS in free agency so you can draft for WANTS. I still think the biggest roster hole is MLB. If Bills think either Sanders or Campbell can step in I'm okay with either at 27. Leaning toward Campbell for his  leadership and cerebral qualities.

"Up to" $18M. Wonder how much of that is actual money.

People on here weren't seeing how much he'd be asking. That's why he isn't here, IMO. As a player, he'd be a really good add. With his salary requests, not so much, maybe.

Seems like a "Lamar, come back, see the shiny thing we got for you?" kind of a move to me.

This year’s draft it reputed to be weak in general.  The Bills, like every other team, have holes to fill but impact at 27 seems unlikely  in 2023.  There truly is only one choice to gain real value if he falls to 27:

    Hendon Hooker.

QBs have value 10x any other position.  Will the value we get from Hooker arrive in 2023?  Maybe, maybe not.

The top option would be to not actually select Hooker but trade the pick to move down a little and get additional picks in 2024 from which we might derive value.

Next choice is to play a game of chicken with teams that think they can trade up in the 28-31 range and get him.  Remember Miami cheated so only 31 first rounders.  If they won’t trade with us, simply draft Hooker and hold him hostage for a few hours or up to a year.

The least likely but still realistic option is to draft Hooker and entertain the possibility of developing him and getting a King’s ransom for Allen in 2-3 years.  I don’t love this as I am a big fan of Josh, but it’s a business.

If Hooker is there at 27 our pick simply has to involve him via trade, extortion or true selection.  There is no way to get that amount of value from anyone else.  Crappy receivers, decent receivers that may still be there in the 2nd, running back, OL who may end up being matched by another guy in the 3rd?  Absolutely no way.  GAIN value for the team.

If Hooker is gone, which he probably will be, then we can be pedestrian.  If not, be bold.

He is recovering from ACL surgery. Has zero value sitting on the bench in Buffalo. Bills have two young veteran QBS and don't  need him. Dont draft him in hopes of trading him because other teams would know he isn't playing for you so you have little trade leverage.

    Do I believe it?

Yes, of course I do. There isn't a good reason to say that if it's not true, to pretend he's taking a year off if he isn't.

"He should honor his contract"? That's just dumb, man, he did. It's not a contract of slavery. He's got the right to leave if he wants. Bless him.

Yes, he has the right but why would he pass up the opportunity? We assume he is still getting paid? I haven't heard for sure whether he is. If he wanted to take a year off to rest,or pout, it's odd that Pegulas would pay him.

Why would Pegulas pay a coach that doesnt honor his contract?

DRAFTING Hooper would be insane and risky. TRADING the pick to a team that wants a QB makes sense. Beane will absolutely not waste this pick.

Are we sure it states bigger canopy “covering the fans” because all I saw the other day when this came out was bigger canopy. For all we know that’s covering concessions somewhere, or ticket checkers, or in the walkway on the way in. Which I guess would cover fans, but we don’t know for sure it’s what I’m assuming you mean by overhang inside the stadium.

I believe you are right but let’s not assume that’s 100% accurate is all I’m saying.

Go look at the drawings and see if you can comprehend

I'd rather a better WR 2. But this draft sounds like it has better TE. So I'll take a Kelce type player. As Beane said we want the best weapon.

Yes, this draft has a good group of tight ends...which will allow you to WAIT and draft one later.

Depends who's available at each position.

I'd prefer a WR2. But if there's a run on them and there isn't someone Beane liked and there's someone like Dalton Kincaid or Michael Mayer on the board - I'd be happy with it.

Unless Beane likes Drew Sanders and he's on the board still, the value isn't there at 27 for a MLB. Trade up from 59 for Edmunds replacement, if MLB starts moving before then. Shouldn't cost much in this Draft.

"Value " is a guess or projection. If Bills think Sanders or Campbell, for example, can step into Edmunds spot, then they might think either is worth the 27th pick if available.

Even worse imo is their statements that Edmunds replacement is already on the roster🤦

I'm still waiting for a link to that exact quote ...what I have  read is that the likebackers currently on the roster will COMPETE for the starting MLB,but I didn't see that Beane actually said the new MLB is already on the roster.

Why would he say that before the draft and the end of free agency? He wouldn't limit his options by ruling out an addition.

Frank Clark…grabbing a hired gun from KC to beat them would be pretty cool. He had times when he is unstoppable. Being a part of a rotation like ours is exactly what he needs to lengthen his career, plus he was released so no comp pick impact.

You really think  Beane can afford Clark? Hahaha . He is probably going back to Seattle.

    Great post.

Landing one of these guys is extremely important imo.  We don’t want to rush von back and making the playoffs without him is no sure thing.  Unless AJ or boogie makes huge strides this offseason Rousseau needs help.  Big time.  Worst case scenario should be Shaq and a rookie but I’d prefer everyone on your list list @HappyDays

Not so "great" ; I think it's unrealistic considering their age and probable salary requests. Whenever people discuss these "wish list" moves, they don't consider the perspective of the free agent. Talking about signing them for "vet minimum " when THEY are probably hoping for a better paying ,starting gig.

It's really surprising there are that many quality edge guys.

I'm guessing a decent amount of them won't sign anywhere until the draft.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to sign 2 of these guys.   I'll take 2 of  Floyd, Quinn, Ingram, Houston, Dunlap.  I think the others may be too much $

Floyd has gotten 9-10 each of the last 3 seasons. Von knows him.
Quinn had a down year, but 18.5 sacks in 2021.....could potentially be the steal of free agency
Ingram is a Bills terror. We could use some nasty. The guy causes chaos routinely that isn't on the stat sheet

TWO??? Besides the age and money questions, who do you bench or cut to accommodate them? If Von is IR a couple weeks ,you'll have to make a move when he returns.

Players signed after May 2nd don't count against the compensatory pick formula.

They were interested in Poona Ford earlier too.

I don't see them adding Ford unless they trade Oliver.

  15. 18 hours ago, HappyDays said:

So far the Bills haven't signed a single edge rusher in free agency. I can't be the only one that thinks this is still a need, not with Von Miller's timetable being up in the air.

There are still a lot of edge rushers available. Full list here:

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/edge/available/

A few names that jump out to me:

    Bud Dupree

    Leonard Floyd

    Frank Clark

    Robert Quinn

    Yannick Ngakoue

    Melvin Ingram

    Justin Houston

    Carlos Dunlap

I'm guessing some of these will be signed after the draft. What should our plan be?

These guys are mostly 32,33 and probably expect more than vet minimum. Beane also seems vigilant about the compensatory situation. I don't see him signing any of them.
