The financial commitment to a QB 8th overall would be hard to give up on after one year, though. Especially with the Bills. That will be like $15-20M guaranteed. 41st pick, absolutely disposable.

I'm confused why people think Kolb is a clear upgrade over Fitz. Other than 4 games last year where he graded decently on PFF, you've got nothing to base that on.

It's more frustrating with the Sabres because they have no excuse for being bad. They can get most quality talent. There's no cheapskate owner disadvantage (and this was the case before St. Pegula, too). Buffalo is a viable hockey market, compared to the NFL growing way past our decaying level. Something went wrong with the Sabres team this year, defensively they've regressed so much. And they've been lacking in quality scorers except for Vanek since Briere left. I hope Darcy takes advantage of the Sabres being in a great selling position this week.

The Bills can throw whatever out there, and the fans will show up. And this isn't even the biggest Bills homer board out there. It's sad.

It depends how the contract breaks down. If there's any significant dead cap hit in year 2, it's a solid "no". Kolb just isn't a good QB, and he gets injured a lot.

It strongly suggests they don't like any QB in this draft. Remember that Tarvaris signed here early too, he had to have been promised a shot at starting for him to accept that before seeing the open market.

But, the Bills are still eating $10M of cap with Fitz. There's no shrewdness here.

The Bills must be running a west coast type offense under Kolb. Patterson's big weakness is running routes. He could learn, but that will be a huge undertaking for a WR taken 8th.

Russell Wilson was evaluated with a backup's reps, and mostly against 3rd string scrubs in preseason. It's not a painstaking process to realize if a QB is good or not.

Patterson's skillset is completely wasted under Kolb, too. Ughhhh.

There's not going to be a fight. With Kolb's contract, unless the rookie is instantly great like Russell Wilson, he's starting. And Jackson has a $500k guarantee, he's going to be on the roster.

Go nuts. Kelly was a great football player, but he is an absolutely terrible person.

Kolb's arm is weaker than Fitzgibbons'. He is not a vertical passer.

It's sad that my only hope is Kolb is so terrible that the Bills have no choice but to dump him and draft a good QB.

Yes, he's terrible at it and lacks any pocket presence. The only place time when Kolb looks impressive is with quick west coast passes. He can zing timing throws pretty well. That will require Stevie and TJ Graham to run great routes... hahahaha oh man
