  1. I think they talk about the Bills plenty, but people here, being primarily Bills fans, and many not caring for hockey, don't seem to like the idea that the Sabres are as relevant as the Bills. I get that, if I wasn't born and raised in Buffalo, I might not care about the Sabres...but, it is a business. The Sabres are their bread and butter, their season runs almost twice as long, and there are about 75 more Sabres games a year than Bills games, so yeah, they cover them a bit more. GR and the Bills, from what I understand, have had a strained relationship since the Tom Donohoe days. I am not saying GR is great (I can't stand Jeremy WTF is his name in the morning), but I live in a college sports town (Ausitin) and the local sports talk is every bit as bad, if not worse...I often just listened to the archived stuff GR has, all the interviews and things, and it makes it more tollerable. It does feel like the end times sometimes, huh?
  2. I heard it...and I pretty much agree with everything he said... What gets me, is the smugness of the GM, and so many of the cheerleader fans, who act as if the critical fans amongst us are off base, because, "you know, the Bills have been doing this for years, and just winning one division title after another, posting 10+ wins every year..." The apathy that has settled in amongst so many (cloaking themselves in the garb of "real fans") is alarming. We signed Brad Smith and Buster Davis...goodbye Lee Evans! If this trade goes down, Buddy Nix moves another notch down on my list...I want a !@#$ing football team that wants to win...one that is going to put their best foot forward even when they are overmatched. Not one that is perpetually worried about what they will have to pay in the future, at the expense of wins. It seems that demented logic that teams shoule try to lose as many games as possible, to ensure a higher draft pick is permiating the franchise...
  3. To all you pro-trade guys, do you ever wonder how many good ball players never reach their potential, playing on a squad that is perpetually flawed, and "building" for some better tomorrow that never seems to come? I don't expect the Bills to win a lot more than they did last year, but it bums me out, going into the season, that the team management is already willing to mail in the season...
  4. I hope your joking...but I will assume you are not...
  5. God, that sucks. Ususally, where there is smoke there is fire on these things.
  6. I have been sort of out of the loop the last couple days...I know there are some folks here who want the Bills to get rid of Evans, but has there been speculation, nationally that he may be headed out of town? I would be pretty bummed if that happened...my favorite player on the team over the last 6 or 7 years...where is this coming from? Links?
  7. All the mags do it...Newsweek has gone out of it's way to put nothing but milfy pics of Sarah Palin on its' covers the last few years...they always found the most uflattering pics of Hillary Clinton too...it is so funny that this gets everyones panities in a wad...Bachmann is doomed in this campaign, and it will have nothing to do with a picture on the cover of a magaizine...
  8. Perry will do anything for a buck...
  9. You gotta have dreams, or all you will have is nightmares!
  10. Lets hope so. Despite their back of the pack offensive stats last season, I think they were already showing great signs of improvement. What I loved hearing, on one of those post practice video reports from Chris Brown (the last practice before their first day off from camp) Chan and Fitz are talking about how they spent a lot of time working on their screen play execution. One of them (Fitz I think) said something like "we have so many potential playmakers on this offense (Spiller, Miller, Parrish, Evans, etc) we have to start figuring a way to open this offense up a little more, and get the ball in their hands, even if it means just short passes to hit them in space..." Chan goes on to talk about the need to concentrate on their screen game. I feel like I have been saying this for about 10 years now. Maybe, because the O-line hasn't been great, or because our QB's haven't been great, or both, but this team simply doesn't know how, or can't run an effective screen play. And they have had some pretty decent pass catching backs (McGahee, Jackson, Lynch, Spiller)...to me, the screen play to Thurman Thomas, back in the glory years, was the bread and butter play, that kept defenses honest for us, and opened up gaping holes in defenses...not to take anything away from TT's running, but, IMO, it was his receiving skills, on the screen play especially, that created so much space for him to run, and so much room for Reed to take off after a short reception. Getting excited for the season to begin!
  11. And that was only on the merits of his time in Denver. In the new millennium, he only played from 2000-04, and some pretty damn fine stats as well...I almost forgot he returned to Denver for his final two years. It wasn't just a big name, past his prime, returning home. He played 27 games those last two years in Denver, catching passes from Brian Griese, racked up almost 1500 yards and 11 tds...
  12. Listening on the radio, ESPN, on the way home from work...for the second time this week, some ESPN clown drools over Marshall Faulk, saying "he revolutionized the runnnig back position, never had a running back been such a big part of the passing game, as well as the running game..." Apparently, he never heard of Thurman Thomas or Roger Craig... btw- Shannon Sharpe belongs in the HOF...major, you are an island on this one...but hey, I wouldn't put Marino in there either!
  13. What is hard to remember, as bad as the Bills offense was last year, overall... they were near the top of the league on 3rd down conversions, red zone scoring (granted, not in the red zone enough) and 3rd and long conversions, for a good part of the season. I think that was, in large part, due to Fitzpatrick. The statistical improvement from Losman/Holcomb/Edwards might not be huge, but stats don't tell the whole story. Fitz kept us in games, and the offense moved the ball at times...a stark contrast from what we had witnessed the 5 seaons prior.
  14. I think you know about 97% of everything...
  15. Now what would make you think I was talking about you?
  16. Awesome!
  17. This is one "political" issue I have pretty mixed feelings on. I don't carry a gun, and while I have seen first hand what can happen when they fall in the wrong hands, at the wrong time, I have also seen them work the way they should...somebody recently tried to rob my brother in-law, at knife point, while at work (contractor)...when they demanded he get his wallet out, he reached back and pulled out a gun...the guy scurried away pretty fast. The cops told him he should have just shot the guy...I am glad he didn't, and so is he, I think. This thing, in the video, is just so over the top...you almost can't help but feeling like everything you see on line is fake, somehow...when I lived in NYC, my girlfriend and I were taking the subway home from a Metz game one night...it was packed. A young guy punched his girlfriend in the face...somebody said something to him, like "knock it off" so he punched her again...some old guy then proceeded to smack him over the head with an umbrella...Jeez...all hell broke loose. I am serious, it was like something out of a Spike Lee flick, a complete riot broke out on the train, and spilled out onto the platform at Northern Boulevard...there were at least 20 people, maybe more, just wailing away at eachother...I was so thankful nobody had a gun that night...

  19. Still one of the great moments in non-sports, sports. Looking back at the clip though, does it almost seem staged now? It looks like Everett has his hands on the edge of the table, like he is getting ready to topple it over, before Rome gets out his third "Chrissy" reference...both are smiling through the whole thing. With Everett, it might just be nerves, but it is hard to tell with Rome...he always has that smug look on his face...anyway, love seeing Everett ruffle Romes perm.
  20. Hmmm...when I looked at the schedule, they had the Packers vs whoever they ar playing listed to start, on the NFL Network, live, kickoff half an hour prior to the Bills/Bears kickoff. It looks like they are showing the Bills/Bears, tape delay, on Sunday night (August 14th)
  21. What I found most remarkable about the movie (taking it as truth) is how close McCain sitting out a week on his campaign, (because "politicking" on the campaign trail seemed too crass to him, when things were so precarious) almost made things so much worse. It almost had unintended disasterous effects. Good movie, I thouhgt...as much as I have heard/read about that whole time, it was always hard (for me anyways...I don't just "know everthing" like some folks around here )to really understand all the complexities of that situation. Movie did a good job of shedding some light...realizing, there are some political biases inherent in the storytelling.
  22. Just went and got both, pre-season and regular season, $49.98...good deal! Thanks for the heads up on the extra discount to subscribe to both. I wasn't sure if I would buy the pre-season package, cuz I would only watch the Bills on it, but, for, essentially, $10, it is worth it.
  23. Yes, kind of odd. Normally, they have the re-broadcast schedule for each of the games about a month ahead of time... That said, all I know for sure, no Bills pre-season games, barring some last minute changes, are shceduled to be broadcast live, nationally. Looks like the NFL Re-Wind pre-season package is the only way to go for us out of towners.
  24. He/she has issues...
  25. What am I missing here? I can empathize with the guy, but he did drive drunk...it would be like getting busted for a DWI coming home from a titty bar..."but officer, she was so hot, I had to buy $150 bottles of champagne, and drink them".
