  1. I have not read all the responses, so forgive me if this has already been said...there is a difference between knowing the business of the NFL, and knowing the game of football. I would guess that most who cover the NFL, who are not ex-players, know very little about what they are seeing....they are like your average fan...they know what they saw, and they can tell you if it was good or bad, based on the outcome. But very few know the X's and O's of the game. So, to expect, say, Ed Kilgore to watch a Bills practice, and come away thinking, "wow, these guys are gonna be great this year" is kind of silly, because nothing in recent history would suggest any improvement. Most of us don't know, until the real bullets fly. A couple years ago, I heard Chris Mortenson on the radio, taking calls. A fan of a middling team (can't remember which) sounding not unlike a thin-skinned Bills fan, took him to task for writing off his teams playoff chances. Mortenson explained, like I did above, that his expertise, if he has any, is the legue, following the players, coaches, etc, not the game plans of teams, and the development of players...that is why the networks jump all over ex-jocks as analysts, because they hope (though rarely deliver) that they will deliver some other perspective that the Costas of the world can't offer. Enjoy the win...lets hope there are many more...don't worry about what people say....they are wrong most of the time. One win doesn't prove the naysayers wrong, just as one loss won't make them right. The Bills have been pretty consistent losers for the last decade...when they start winnig consistently (and I get a good feeling that they are gettting there) then we can have an argument...
  2. I didn't "object" to anything...you trotted out the same tired cliche about Bush having his finest moment, that day, on the pile of rubble. This tired point has been made 1000's of times over the last 10 years.. It was a fine moment, in all sincerity. And, my point was, if you were being honest, there is almost nothing any president could say, or do, in that situation, at that moment, that would have been wrong...Bush had the will of the people on his side, like almost no president has had in my lifetime, and didn't really do a whole hell of a lot with it...and, in fact, his time in office only divided us more...and it continues today. So, I guess, what I am saying is, what you hail as a great moment, I see as a missed opportunity. In case it escaped you, your "could Obama say the same words with conviction" are about all I need to know about where your coming from..."you didn't mean to make it politcal"? Please...is that the best you can come up with...who has nothing?
  3. Watched the game at a bar in Austin, no problems at all! The guy doing the tv/sound stuff told us that the signal was lost on new DTV boxes, all over the country...explained why there was a huge influx of people, at the bar, late in the 1st quarter...guy said at the bars other location, they had lost the signal as well...I still find it amusing that DTV advocates won't ever admit that this product is far from perfect.
  4. Are they talking about first starts, or first time in a game...Marino's first start, against the Bills, has to be up there too...Fergy threw for 435 or so, but Marino had about 330, IIRC.
  5. Your rational, unbiased view is so wise.. I suspect that there is almost nothing any president could have said, in Bush's position, that could have been wrong...unless, of course, like some of you, Obama is some closet Muslim terrorist...Bush was always great with the platitudes...not so much with the actions. I am not sure how this makes him a "real president".
  6. Whose "actual reality" is she so in touch with? Yours? Hers? How enlightened you continue to be. Would you vote for Palin over West? Palin has been garnering respect from the "liberal media" as of late, because the other Republican/Tea Party affiliates are coming across as more and more frightening to people whose "reality" isn't the same as everyone (or most) on the PPP. Palin isn't running, she has decided to make a career for herself as a political personality...she has no real credibility, so she can give honest answers... I have always given her credit for just answering the question, no matter how misguided her answer may be. She never used the Bachmann style of just repeating the same thing, over and over, whether it applied to the question at hand.
  7. You have gone from annoying twerp, to total douche. Congrats, your PPP make-over is complete.
  8. Buffalo 23 Kansas City 19
  9. Cry...definitely cry.
  10. I love Marv Levy, and I would expect him to defend Dick Jauron...but make no mistake, the Bills greatest head coach, acting as GM, hired one of the franchies' truly awful head coaches. Sure, DJ didn't have a hugely talented roster, but I don't think he could coach the Patriots, at their best talent wise, to a winning record. Nobody ever improved under Jauron, and he was guilty (while with the Bears too) of coaching not to lose, rather than coaching to win...his teams were dull, miserable to watch, and, honestly, I would seriously question whether the best players on the Bills roster, in those years, were actually playing on Sundays.
  11. Who, Smerlas? He was (and still is) a huge axe grinder...good player, but not a good guy, in my book. Smerlas was/is a racist...but that doesn't mean Bell belongs on the Bills wall...Cribbs is the best running back (besides Cookie) not on the wall already. I would put Antowain Smith up there, before Bell. As for that Cowboys game, that was two really bad football teams going at it...it seemed like a bigger deal at the time, because nobody realized, yet, how bad the Cowboys would be that year, or the next. Bell had one huge run...that doesn't put him on the wall...this is just funny...****, Robb Riddick was a better running back than Bell.
  12. Not sticking up for Plaxico Burress, but I don't have a real positive feeling about Tom Coughlin either...
  13. If you are a card collector, a Chris Berman fan, a Bills fan, or both...you might appreciate this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-Absolute-Memorabilia-Chris-Berman-Fans-Game-/370534778997?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5645980875 btw- that is a great jersey! And, Berman isn't the only "celebrity Bills fan" featured on a Bills card...Mickey Rourke: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-UD-Sweet-Spot-Icons-Mickey-Rourke-Helmet-Auto-50-/390338610456?pt=US_Football&hash=item5ae1fe8518
  14. Funny, what time does...I was at that game, and, other than the home opener in 1980 (breaking the phins streak), I can't remember being at a game where it got as loud as it was, that day, when Kelly was announced...that stadium was shaking...and it was obvious, from day one, Kelly was the real thing...good times!
  15. Uhhh...I never suggested that the postal service doesn't need tweaking...only taking umbrage with the a-holes here (see Dante, DaveInElma, etc) who are mis-characterizing what is going on with the postal system. Btw- if your example of "progressives" rings true, it sounds a lot better to me than what you "repressives" and proudly "regressive" idiots are usually preaching... ZZZZZzzzzzzzz
  16. Sure there are liabilites in the future...but do you have to pay for them all today? Isn't this a budgeting issue? I am not arguing that the post office doesn't need some fixing, but some of you (maybe not you) are acting as though this issue is caused by the postal employees, who I would argue, do a terrific job, by and large. To pretend that exclusively privatizing postal services will make the service better doesn't really ring true. The post office is self sustaining, and it seems this requirmentr of funding pensions 75 years into the future, for employees that aren't even born yet, is a sure fire way to destroy something that works. What is happening with that money, in the mean time? I seriously doubt it all sitting tidily in some vault somewhere, waiting to be paid out...I would bet it is being borrowed for other government programs.
  17. I don't get comments like this. In what way is UPS or Fed Ex more efficient than the post office? Is it because they won't leave packages unless I sign for them? That is not convenient. I have been using the post office, personally, almost daily, for about 11 years...over 2600 transactions on EBAY, and in that time, I have had 1 shipping problem with USPS. In my previous job, we used UPS and DHL for everything...there were constant errors. I just don't understand why these are better services, and they certainly aren't cheaper. Honestly, the last thing I want is to shoot the "shite" with a delivery person, but maybe that is just me. A very good friend of mine (my Fantasy Football commish) is a UPS driver, and with the tight schedule he is on, I seriously doubt he would want to shoot the "shite" or hang out with customers either...there really are two Americas.... DC, playing both sides of the issue....brilliant as usual..pointing out the reality that it will be much more expensive, but throwing a few barbs in as well...nobody does it better! For 75 years?
  18. Call me crazy, but I thought Naaman Roosevelt looked as good as anyone (except Johnson) on our WR squad, during pre-season. Glad to have him back.
  19. God, you are such a whiney little thing...I will step away, like you want. I have tried, and failed, as you say, to define the Tea Party, because the words and the actions of those who hide behind it are so inconsistent. The Tea Party may not espouse a lot of backward ideas, but those who do, seem to have found a home there.
  20. Like I said, before you and LA went all little baby with their panties in a wad (more LA than you, you are always like that), you may not share those social values, but it just so happens, those who do, seem to have found a foothold, and support, in your beloved movement.
  21. Awesome! I can't wait to give this a try! Any inclination on whether you would be able to DVR games, off of the Ticket through PS3?
  22. The protocol should be, if you are worried about spoilers, don't go in the thread...
  23. Good call too...intense game. Sadly, those are the kind of games that fans of the teams participating seem to cherish much more than the casual fans, particularly when it is teams like the Bills and Broncos who aren't as prominent nationally. But yeah, that was a terrific game...Cartlon Bailey and Jeff Wright save the day...
