  1. With Mccarron and Peterman on the roster and the obvious assumption that they draft a qb early does this guarantee the Bills keep 3. Or do they try to slip Peterman on the practice squad. I am not a fan of keep 3 qbs. Its a roster spot that is valuable elsewhere.

I always say with Mel Kiper, if he knew half as much as he pretended to know some team would have given him a lot more money than ESPN a long time ago.  His ability to have immediate recall of almost every player in the draft pool is to be commended, but it's 2018, the networks can pull all of that up with a custom highlight package the moment any name is announced.

I switched to NFL Net's coverage several years ago.  Was forced to watch ESPN last year due to circumstances.  They didn't announce a details of our trade at #10 until nearly 20 minutes after twitter and co had put it out.

Kiper actually doesnt do much scouting like people think. He is very well liked inside NFL circles, and he gets most of information from scouting friends, and then puts his own spin on things... Unlike McShay who does actually scout and isnt good, and noone likes him.

  3. Like him or not, its not my point. The secondary was good last year, but I believe he would have more trade value now than what the Bills got last year. Hes a more valuable trade chip now than the third the Bills got. Didnt EJ visit with the Browns? Therefore they are looking for a CB. They'd potentially value Darby more in a trade than whatever they could get in the third round.

You can't have it both ways.  If Darby doesn't fit the scheme, his value doesn't increase.  Additionally, he may have gotten injured which essentially decreases his trade value to about zero.

We're also glossing over how much value the BILLS are currently putting on the culture.  Darby isn't known for his character or being the most prepared guy.  McDermott and Beane aren't going to keep guys like that around because it makes them look like hypocrites.

This is the NFL.  You strike when there's a deal to be had.

How do you know all this? He wasnt prepared, he didnt fit the culture, didnt fit the scheme? You know none of this. Its the spin the local media put on it, and what the Bills said to make the trade look good.

  5. Allen played lower competition and didnt dominate. Hes erratic with his throws, and doesnt process a D very well. I am more incline to go with this ranking than having him in the top 3. Mayfield is by far the best actual QB, his height is the only reason he is not the consensus number 1. I like Jackson over Rosen, but realize Jackson is the bigger risk, but also have the bigger ceiling. Rosens health and the notion he is a lot like Cutler scares me. Name the last first round qb that got his HC fired?

We got a 3rd rounder for a guy who got torched all last season.

    What are you talking about?

schwartz blitzes a lot. Thus putting his CB on an island, and he knows that. There aren't many CB in the league that are that great man v man. Schwartz knows his CB are going to get beat. Its risk v reward, and obviously the reward is much great. Man in the NFL with a good QB it total advantage to the WR.

That DT lineup and cornerbacks looks great, but they have really big holes at DE and LB still.  I think this D can be really good, but they need LB help in the draft for sure.

Donald plays with nose and end for them. Hell probably not just play end. play a 5 tech on run plays and 7 on pass.

Gilmore got lost in zone coverages a lot when he was here.

How do you know he got lost? you knew the coverage? the safeties responsibilities? LB responsibilities? New England doesn't pay top dollar for a CB that cant play multiple coverages.

You are assuming that Darby would have played well in the new defensive scheme. If he is a better man corner than a zone corner, he would not have been a stand out to be worth any more.

You cant be good at man and not good at zone that doesnt make sense. Thats BS you hear in the media. Some CB arent good enough to play man. Example arent athletic, fast, or big enough to play 1v1 with a WR. But NFL corners are all good at zone. Teams that play zone dont blitz much. Teams that play man blitz a lot thus not having enough guys in coverage to play a zone defense.

So you think his trade value would be more simply because he played on a team that went to the SB?  You'd ignore that he missed half the season, played poorly for most of the rest of the season, and played poorly in the SB?  Yeah, no.  His trade value right now is minimal at best.

29th rated CB in the league. That would put him as a Teams #1. #1 corner IMO has more value than a 3rd round pick.

I think we won the Watkins and Darby trades.  People talk about how the Rams are making brilliant personnel moves but they fail to mention that they burned a second round draft pick on a one year WR rental.  So far Brandon  Beane has had an uncanny ability to  maximize our returns on players

I didnt like getting rid of Watkins, but after seeing what it wouldve cost to keep him I'll take the second round pick.

Our secondary was great last year. Didn't miss him at all.

Oh i agree. I am not saying the Bills D would be better with him. I think he has more trade value now, as trade bait than the 3rd round pick they got.

Eyeball test said he played like garbage. How many yards did T Brady throw for in the SB?

He is also a man cb. He would have looked even more like a steaming pile of pooo playing zone in B-lo. We took the 3rd rounder and didn't look back. Our secondary was a pleasant surprise without him and should take another step forward this season.

    Bye Darby!

Do you even know what makes a guy a zone verse man CB? Because it doesnt really exist. Its something that you hear in the media and you go with it.. Its one of the dumbest things someone can say.
