  1. Not sure what the debate is. Its going to be the guy from Carolina. Good GMs want total control and the Pegulas messed up and are giving that to Mcdermott.. Therefore its gonna have to be someone that knows the HC. Most teams don't give total control to the head coach. This is such a mistake.

  2. scot mccloughan rumors out there. What a great hire that would be.

It would be ideal, but no way he comes here and not have 100% total control. Coach with that much say, especially a first time coach will hinder any quality GM from coming here.

  3. Were not picking up his option because he's a bad football player, it's health related, so a 7th rounder is a good deal for Sammy at this point? I'd rather keep him and hope for the best. Were not tanking were just not commiting to a guy who might be broken and I see nothing wrong with that.

a 7th rounder? for one of the most talented WR in the NFL. Thank god your not running the Bills. Mean while the bills would get a 3rd round Comp pick at least if he leaves and you wanna trade him for a 7th rounder. Smart

  4.

Because we were going to draft a corner at 10, and got a corner at 27. Was the corner at 10 that much better THIS year than the one at 27? No. We also add a 3rd this year. We also can help continue to build with extra picks instead of constantly having 5 picks and just scrambling to put a roster together.

No that can't be it, your response makes too much sense... You nailed it!

  5. While I agree that Tyrod isn't a Jim Kelly type franchise QB, I do still respect what he brings.

He has a nice long ball, good leadership skills, a solid work ethic, and is an elusive runner. Put that all together, and he's a serviceable starter.

While franchise QBs are kind of like unicorns, even serviceable starters are rare enough. I think we keep TT as the starter until we find someone better.

I agree i like what TT brings, and feel he can lead the Bills to the playoffs. I feel the Bills should start building more around him. This year is a big year for him and hopefully he improves even more.

  6. Ask yourself why Cutler is still available.

I understand, again using him as an example. But if they were to draft a qb 10 overall TT is not the future. If they can then flip him for a 2 they would need to bring in a vet like cutler.. Cutler isn't much worse than TT. If anything he still is the better QB. His problem is he is uncoachable.

  7.

Trading Tyrod and signing Cutler is not even close to being a realistic scenario regardless of whether the Bills draft a QB at 10.

    A) why not B) I was just using him as an example.

  8. If Whaley is on the outs they aren't going to let him use future picks as a life line.

If Whaley is on the outs they aren't going to let him use future picks as a life line.

If hes on the way out, he'll pretty much have no say. But if he truly hired McDermitt I don't see why they would then fire Whaley.

  9. I do think trading our 1st next year to move up this year may be in play. Whaley has done it before, if he thinks he needs to do something big to save his job, risking the future for the present is certainly on the table. It's a huge part of the problem of putting a GM into a position where he's making decisions to save his job vs the best long term interest of the franchise.

This is exactly what I am thinking. Their 1st next year to move back into the 1st for a player that they really want.

  10. You definitely bring in different players for different schemes. 4-3 3-4 run heavy offense west coast stuff like that. McDeromott mentioned that he and Whaley work together every day on personnel Wrex said the same and we all remember the rumors about Marrone storming out of the room on the Watkins pick

Keep drafting specifically for a coach and this is what it gets you. 18years and no playoffs. Yes they work together, and when it comes down to a player thats a toss up the GM may go with what the coach wants. In the end its the GM job to find talent, the coaches job to coach talent. If everyone does their job you can put together a solid squad. Scouts spend their lives perfecting their craft. As do coaches. Coaches coach, scouts scout players play.

  11. I get why you would say that but what kind of long-term strategy could you have when you have to find players for Marrone then Wrex and now McDermott all within just the last 5 years?

You don't draft specifically for a coach. It is the GM job to bring in the best players that he can. The coach is getting paid to coach them up and put them into a position to succeed. Should they work together yes, But strictly drafting to a coaches strengths gets you where the bills are today. Gather the talent let the coaches do what they do best. Coach!

  12. But yet the bills are no better than the day whaley was promoted. You don't let production like MG walk for that salary. Same with Hogan. There is no vision by whaley. You keep Hogan let woods walk. not bad. You keep MG, knowing that when hes been in theres been no drop between him and McCoy. Its always 1 step forward and 3 steps back with this team. If people think a RB with fumbling issues, that looked below average last year is going to fill MG shoes your mistaken. Not to mention McCoy is pushing 30, and who knows when father time will hit him.

  13. Bills with more cap space, and less invested in the backfield (including qb) let a talented player walk. But the Saints W way more invested in the backfield, give AP 3.5million annually. This is why the Bills haven't been good. You can;t let quality players leave when the contract is reasonable, and when your offense is based on the Run. Arguably the 2nd best player on offense just went to the best team in the NFL. But, people think that last years rookie will easily step in. You mean the guy that fumbles about every 70xs he touches the ball. This team is a total joke.
