  1. You and me both. Even if he truly is an upgrade at QB, how much better of a player are you getting? Now factor in the contract and loss of draft pick. Is it worth it? IMO, no. Not after seeing what Roman was able to do with Alex Smith and then Kaep. Lets see his hand at EJ
  2. Why resign him to adapt a guy to your scheme when you're starting fresh and could get a guy who fits your scheme?
  3. Fair enough. But to be realistic, so did EJ last offseason. What did tht do of his game. A lot is to be said about the coach he plays for
  4. Roman will get those guys going down hill, no doubt. He's done great work with the running game. We aren't totally bare at OL. I think Marrone was a huge reason for their regression
  5. What makes you think this? He lost the very people who made him successful. I would argue the other way. I think he'll continue to regress. New offense, aging skill players, I don't see him refocusing his career.
  6. I'm praying someone asks this question to him.
  7. It just makes sense to draft young legs that for the system at RB. You can get a mid round pick to be a back by committee with Fred. Spend that money locking down a position harder to fill (LB leadership Spikes/Harris form NY)
  8. It's all good in theory but the money used to retain him would be better spent elsewhere. We have many holes, depth areas that could be upgraded. I'd rather resign Spikes than Spiller. If he were under contract, this whole thread is having a way different conversation
  9. So many ppl get caught up in numbers. You can't put a statistic on the advantages he bring to his defense. He is a beast in the run game, has double digit sacks despite frequent double teams and is a stand up guy. Our best player on the team. Glad he is getting the recognition
  10. That is just one part of the picture. Factor in his flaws, contracts and the pick, what do you actually gain? A skinnier EJ? Ill take my chances with the new staff developing what we have
  11. I see a Broadway musical in the making. How's your tenor, Kelly?
  12. Grammar police. You need some punctuation. Are you saying that there is no way he sucks? Or are you arguing that there is no way you'd trade a second. Please pay your fine and sign the dotted line.
  13. Phili? Arizona? San Diego? Sure. As long as he isn't here smashing his some into the back of our Guards.
  14. Square peg. Round hole. As much as you want it to fit, as hard as you try, you just cannot make his style work in a system unfit for his ability. Do you really want to watch Spiller between the tackles again next year?
  15. What makes you think anything would be different? Have you watched any 49ers games in the last 4 years?
  16. I can't stand him. I think he is a cocky, overrated running-QB attempting to convert to a pocket passer. He's inaccurate and overpaid. Is he a way better option than anyone on our roster? Sure. But I'd rather explore other options than this. Oh, and the fact I highly doubt that they'd give him up for a 2nd.
  17. +1 I'd like to see some fresh legs next year. A pair that carries 235 pounds of nasty.
  18. That's what we have Sammy for. Yet again, Spiller doesn't fit the mold
  19. No skin off my back. I doubt they'd want to retain him anyways. They have no connection to the guy what so ever
  20. I feel like everyone shys away from addressing the issue at QB. If we want to be contenders, we need to find the guy.
  21. I don't understand this. Did we draft him for his perimeter blocking prowess? Sure, he needs to be a competent blocker. But you'd like to think tht they have bigger plans in store for a guy of his caliber.
