  1. I think these next 2 games will determine the future of the organization. If we win both buddy, chan and fitz will all be back with a rookie QB holdong the clipboard. If we get blown out in both games. I think Russ Brandon will clean house and get rid of all of them. Getting rid of chan is not good enough, since no competent coach will want to work for buddy. We are facing 2 rookie QB in the next 2 games and if we get blown out by both change will happen. We can only hope and pray.

Russ Brandon doesn't decide anything, get a grip.
  2. The Bills need to improve their experiment north of the border.

The Bills are the NFL's smallest tv market outside of Jacksonville & Green Bay. If you include Toronto the Bills are a top 5 market. The problem with the Bills is that Toronto is indifferent towards them. In a city of 6,500,000 million the Bills can't even get 40,000 fans in a 54,000 seat stadium. We've had 5 years to build this thing in Toronto and other than it being a financial boon, it has been an abject failure.

Only a Bush League franchise could blow the Toronto series.

How about this - do the training camp in Toronto? Rochester is a middling city and brings in only 15,000 fans on Sunday. If you integrate the Bills in Toronto or Southern Ontario they would be around longer than one weekend per year to showcase the NFL to the Canadian market.

If the Bills truly believe Canada is the Bills best chance at remaining viable then they need to pull the plug on Rochester & relocate training camp to Ontario.

Best inovative business thought I have heard on this board in quite a while.

The sad thing is that the fans in LA have never been all that interested in pro football. They're no t much better than the fans inJacksonville

Well, there is USC and UCLA and on and on. Lots of football available in SC, a tough market for the pro's to crack. Two failures so far there. (Rams and Raiders) In buffalo, there was no competition in 1960, as UB was small time, and, although Div 1 now, still is only a mid major player. So, the WNY fan base is oriented to the Bills. Syracuse is a little far to go, and tickets not to available/Carrier Dome is pretty small. However ,the TV thing does level the revenue thing to some degree...but, the prices in a big market might be higher. I just hope the Bills will try somewhat higher prices before they abandone the Buffalo area, we are very low on ticket prices right now.
  3. I think the Bills will retain both Levitre and Byrd. I've always thought Leodis would be the odd man out.

This is a good dialog. I think they will try to resign both Leverte and McKelvin. Both will get big contracts, and despite the bashing that McKelvin gets on this board, he is an adequate CB, and a killer returner. Now, one point not yet mentioned in the discussion is that not only is Levetre on the market, so will Reinhart be available. Reinhart may start elsewhere, and we really have had three great guards for a couple of years. So, if Levetre goes, Reinhart is the plug in. He is good, but not as durible, apparently. Back on McKelvin, I think he is likely to get big bucks, not unlike Levetre. I think there is cap room, however, and these are known commodities. I think that McKelvin proved the last 5 games, since he is again starting, that he is better than Willaims(Kwho is NG)

  4. Polian is probably one of the only big names that will come here. Sure the Colts had a 2-14 season, but it put them in the position to draft Andrew Luck and they control their destiny to make the playoffs this year. What fresh blood is going to want to come here? Russ Grimm and Ron Rivera refused the opportunity to interview for the HC position in 2010. Not to mention the rumor that Harbaugh said no as well. Polian is older, but he has built winners everywhere he went.

From a marketing standpoint it might generate interest in season ticket sales next year.

I agree with you about his head coaching decisions, they have been suspect at times. I still believe that Marv Levy was an average coach with outstanding football players. That being said any change will do.

I think Polian likes the ESPN gig and had called it a career.
  5. Well, it was a mistake, however it happened, but not a big deal. I actually think that the sneak needs to get run in unexpected situations once in a while to keep the D honest. I saw a QB do that a couple of years ago, and he went for 55 yards. Would have scored but the center (who was out in front of him) was to slow. Ran it because ther was nobody up the middle in the D. Speaking of unexpected plays, that fake punt was a beauty, ehh. (it was in Canada  ) Just surprised, then, that idoit Carroll didn't also run an onside kick after one of their scores!(I guess he was taking it easy on the Bills :D )

  6. Mr Wilson will have his year end review with Nix and Gailey. At that time, they will be told whether they will continue. I remember when Chuck Knox came back from Detroit, and announced he would not be back. Anyhow, that is the alleged SOP. So, first or second week in January will tell the tale. A top five pick would not be bad news. However, I hate to loose to the phins and Jets, especially. So, I will be pulling for our team, however bad they may be. I lived through the 2-14 years that got us OJ, so I guess I can live through this.

  7. Another defensive stinker. Outcoached and outplayed. Lots of folks out there that don't know what they are doing.

I can wait a couple more games to find out who is getting fired. Nothing would surprise me. the rookies really looked bad, Graham, Glenn both looked terrible. Gilmore and Brooks got smoked a couple of times also. At least no negative calls on Williams, but maybe he was so far out of position that they could call him out. May be time to finally let the season tickets go.

  8. Spiller will get his yards, I am saying another 100plus game. Fitz will have a good game.......but so will Lynch. Close game to call, Bills would win 4 of 10 if they played 10. Still not consistent enough. Of course, a couple of big plays could turn it around. McKelvin could do it, Graham could do it, Spiller could do it. Who Knows, thats why they play the games.

  9. Michael Vick paid his debt to society. OK, I get that. But he is not the person I want the kids in WNY looking at in a Bills uniform.

And, I have seen Vick in person in the Ralph as the Atlanta QB.......a scrambler without a great arm...never get you to the SB...and already north of 30. Bottom line....we will never see Vick in a Bills uni.....IMO

finally, I am thinking whatever it takes to get Landry Jones....all those starts in the OK uniform.....he can play.

  10. I disagree completely with this sentiment. I think he is wrong. Yes Buffalo is a small market but geographically they have a nice advantage of being the only team around. All the way to Utica the closest team is the Buffalo Bills. With a competitive product people would have no issue traveling to the games. With the product that has been put out the last decade plus it isn't worth people's time. With a competitive product young kids who would be the future fans wouldn't become pats*, giants, or jets fans. With a competitive product small areas such as Pittsburgh and Green Bay have thrived. I don't want the crap about the early 90's teams not selling out either - football was not near the giant that it is today. Popularity is at an all time high for this league and the Bills regularly sell out without a competitive team.

There is a theme - have a winner or even a competitive team that makes the playoffs once in a while, and there is no need to farm out games. Push the crap that they have? While I guess this is what needs to be done.

Well, the truth is the Buffalo market will not support the ticket price structure that can be had in Toronto (or in many other large markets) Hence, the winning record would not change the finicial calculus much. Selling out Ralph Wilson Stadium at current prices still has a significant disadvantage to selling out the Rogers center. Hence, the money men will prefer a big market venue. That includes all the visiting teams as well, since they get a share of the live gate. So, I don't buy the on field performance argument vs a via the need to have a Toronto game or two. If that keeps the bills in Buffalo, I am all for it!

  11. Actually, the list is longer than those two. Urbik and Reinhart also have to be resigned. Thats the top 3 guards, and we surely have to get Urbik. Reinhart is a starter on other teams as well.....hope we don't loose him. And, somewhere out there is t he end of Woods contract.....I think he may have one more year. Spiller has two more I think. George Wilson also will need to be resigned, but I am wondering about that. With Aaron Williams a bust at CB, he may be moved to safety, DeNorris Searcy is already there, And, frankly, Ron Brooks would be a great safety as well, a hitter with ball skills, depending on if his very average speed is adequate on the corner or slot.

  12. Actually, I am tired of trying three years and out, lots of confusion with a new system. Of course, the 3/4 4/3 switches have rendered the D useless for much of the last three years. The last few games are the only time in that period where I have seen a real NFL defense! And, the O is definitely better than any of the Jauron years, they were in the bottom 4 or 5 in those years. I think if the D had been better, Gailey would have had a better record than the Jauron years. I think they finally have it right (almost), it still can get better with better personnel, esp at LB. None the less, at this point, the O and the D are better than the Jauron years. No desire to go back there. And, yes, the personnel are better, and I agree, the strength of the O is the Oline and rb. QB and WR could be better, but are not total diasters. And, I think Fitz is better than Losman or Edwards ever were on their best days.

  13. Edwards was already washed up when gailey came on board. I think Gailey tried him on for size at Ralph Wilson's request. That owner driven tryout lasted two games. When Mr Wilson finally saw the light, Chan used the ax. Just my guess.....as Ralph was proud to say, at one time, that he helped draft Edwards.
