  1. Where's Terrell or his boys when this cat fight was going on... Don't really care whether Garcia is gay or not. Chances are that NFL players align with sexual preferences in percentages like the rest of the population, but since TO made such an issue of this--I thought the story was interesting.
  2. Center sneak on the goose....Trey and Drew becoming close friends.
  3. I agree. David Garrard their back up is a pretty damn good player. He had nothing around him at East Carolina for a number of years and had winning seasons against tough schedules. I was hoping we would draft him when he came out....I'd rather play against Leftwich....
  4. Two motivations for this post. First I want to get a preseason head start on what the major post themes will be after our first loss. Second, I wanted to provide Jerry Sullivan some basic ideas for column themes post-loss... Here we go-- TD= Incompetent part II--Ol Whitey deserves to be institutionalized.... Drew=Statue and washed up McGahee=selfish ingrate Mike Williams=bust Ryan Denny=bust Troy Vincent=Headhunter of his own teammates JP = High bust potential because of inability to become #2 in training camp Josh Reed=Bust, not deserving of a starting role Lee Evans=High bust potential-can't believe he hasn't shown enough to start Sam Adams=Fat tub of goo Trey Teague=Sucks, will get bull rushed to death Pucillo=Sucks, glad he is nowhere near the field (okay this one's true ) Travis=Ingrate Lindell=Blows, not accurate nor strong legged Ralph=senile for letting all this go on.. Milloy=A puss for not playing with a broken arm MM=showing signs of stupidity--watch out--if he starts wearing goofy sweaters we are done... What am I missing? Jeez we will be lucky to go 0-16.... Go team go!!!!! You know its pretty bad when we have to circle the wagons because of our own fans B) I am not asking for pollyanna optimism but just show a little positive outlook.....LET'S GO BILLS!!!!
  5. You should have seen the fight JP and Ralph had over the handicapped spot outside the Bills offices on Tuesday....ugly man, just ugly... MM said it yesterday---Evans will get plenty of reps and that more than 11 guys are starters in his mind. Moulds has his speed back and in fact is faster than at the beginning of last year according to Vincent and Clements, he's the deep threat for the short term in the 2 WR receiver sets. In the 3 WR sets--you've got Josh working the short edges and middle and Moulds and Evans working the posts, flags, flys and deep slants....we will play a lot of 3 wide...it will open up the running game and the passing game--no one is going to play 8 in the box when you have Moulds, Evans and Reed wide--if they do---its like conceding big plays--even if we hit 30% of the opportunities--that's a lot of yards and points...
  6. TD = Ol' Whitey Jerry Sullivan = The Grinch (Pre-Whoville conversion)
  7. We got the hometown discount, not on total contract value but on upfront money. Winstrom was $14M SB and $33M total value over 6 years. Besides Aaron is a better player!!! Good job Ol' Whitey you Leslie Neilsen/Phil Donahue looking MF'er...
  8. T- We sent daughter #2 to K in mid August...she's our actress and drama queen. Sings every word in conversation. I usually work from home one or two days a week and she is definitely a light up your life kid. Miss her as well. As you know, that transition is really hard on mom and dad.... My wife and I have temporarily solved the issue by restocking the preK pool---we have a 2 year old son and at 44 I am going to be a dad for the 4th time in February....I wouldn't recommend that strategy though....let's see I figure I will finish paying for college right when I am ready to switch to Depends.....
  9. I hope its not sacrilegious to do this but I have one more to add....one thing that has always bugged me about Miami is the ability to have your car valeted at the game if you are in one of the boxes--you can pull up, hand over the keys and then go mingle with the upper crust --I mean come on-This is football-this type of game experience is ridiculous.... I would therefore add to Nick's great work: GAME DAY Experience Miami: 30 minutes before game time, driving your 2005 Jag up to the gate and handing the keys to the valet.... Buffalo: Driving your 78 Pinto to the parking lot, sneaking in before the gates open, lifting off the hood of the Pinto to reveal that it doubles as a grill and starting the dawn to post-dusk tailgate... Advantage: BUFFALO, BUFFALO, BUFFALO
  10. It happens every year about this time....no matter what happened the previous year..about Monday of opening regular season game week I start to get the this little tickle in my stomach and it grows each passing day until Sunday.. I know I am just an unimportant fan but I still get excited...my wife and kids sense that extra excitement in my voice and that permanent smile on my face...my 2 1/2 year old son has gotten in the habit of pulling the Bills helmet off my bookshelf in the home office whenever he sees that Bills logo on the computer screen--that only enhances the feeling..... Real Bills football is back baby--and I am a sucker for it....While I would like to win every week--win, draw or lose (yuck)--there's still nothing like these next 5 months (yes including January and early February baby!!) So to MM and the team--Good Luck...have a great year....we'll be there every step of the way!!!! Cheering our arses off!!!!
  11. bump--this was really too funny to be way down here.....
  12. Dylan McFarland from Montana? There's a lot there to work with. Bob Dylan, Irish/Scottish Surname; real buffalo in Montana...big tackle who beat our Sullivan, Esposito and Porter....I don't know... How about Constantin Ritzmann?
  13. Pat Ruel is the stand-in OL coach in NY. The OL coach is battling cancer. Ruel and Gilbride must have told Tsar Tom to put in a claim... Pat "Golden" Ruel--yes his parents did this to him
  14. Bill--are you okay? You didn't get bit by any malaria carrying mosquitos this weekend or anything, did you??...forgive me if I am mistaken but this is almost a tad positive outlook about the o-line.. God bless you man....a little faith and hope is good this time of year. Go Bills!!!!!
  15. Thanks Clumpy....great work as always. I see Pucillo is an RFA in 2005. Can his qualifying offer be a tall decaf at Starbuck's?
  16. Good point. Its even tougher since he has to make someone's final 53 because he's no longer PS eligible. He defines journeyman -- cut I think three times including once by the Bills...never really shown much....if he doesn't have a back-up plan--he should've before he got injured.
  17. See what I mean--if the reporter who called Travis would have called Corp--he would have gotten raw gut reaction that he/she could have used in the story. Good Stuff
  18. I agree LA that most of us would keep our mouth's shut in this situation and move on in--particular since any severance we would be getting in the real world would be tied to us shutting our traps... but this is pro football and five minutes after this hit the wire, he had a call from a reporter asking the inane question "How do you feel right now?" He gave them raw gut reaction. He feels strongly that he was !@#$ed.....and the sports media loves to get comments from athletes in these situations.....
  19. So let's take the business aspect a step further. The Bills are about a 130 person company. Sixty eight players until today (15 got laid off today, 8 or so will be called back tomorrow at 5), about 40 staff including coaches, etc. that have supervisory responsibility of some sort for the players and then about 20 - 30 who have ancillary responsibilities (marketing, tickets, operations) etc. You have been working for several months knowing that you are going to get to a day when you had to pare the player portion of the company to a required size. The key in this decision is to set expectations that the player would need to attain to make the final 53. There are several factors--historical performance, salary to production ratio, current performance, work ethic, leadership abilities, relative importance of one's position, etc. I think we would all agree that if a team is going to be successful there has to be good communication between the 40 staff that have player supervisory responsibilities and the players in order to get the best 53. We'll never know what happened here...but if this statement is true "When you tell me something and you repeatedly tell me something, and then totally come out of left field with something else, I just don't think that's the way you should do business," Brown said That indicates a failure to communicate. Which is hard to believe in an organization this small. The truth is, when Matthews performed like he did on Thursday night..this was decided...If Travis wasn't informed sometime Friday that this scenario could play out--someone made a mistake.... I am of the mind that you have to be brutally honest with your people particularly when their jobs are on the line, companies and organizations that do it any other way ending up losing the trust of their remaining people...that's not what I want to see from the Bills. Again, this is my opinion--but its the way I have managed for 20 years--and its worked okay so far....
  20. Thanks for posting this CVM--classic stuff..... Deserves to be pinned....
  21. Watson? Watson? Someone actually brought him to camp? I assumed he was selling Weber Grills or working for Hostess in the Pop Tart division with his penchant for being toasted..... They were going to change the name of the nickle back position because it overvalued him... Okay I am done
  22. With or without farm animals BGIM...maybe TD has a pig thing going on like the guy from Louisiana in the story the other day.... Me, I think TD has trench coat flasher written all over him....
  23. I'm not surprised. They tried Nuefeld, Denny, Teague--none had the velocity or accuracy according to reports from Chris Brown and Jeff Morrison. I think the Magic Man has a chance to be an Adam Linger type---he has a very unique talent and seems to be very willing to work to get better.
  24. I feel bad about this one to Rico. The kid did show some early promise..but he seemed very lazy the last two years. The opportunity was there for him due to injury last year and then Ruben being cut and he never really competed. He looked slow at tackle and very tame at guard.....well he lasted three years....I think that makes him pension eligible...
