Holy Cowpoop..another Travis speculation story
JoeF replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree to a point jarthur. Hadley Englehard deserves a lot of this blame. But think about it for a second. Hadley didn't almost spend himself into bankruptcy forcing an extension and signing bonus at a below market rate to pay off debts and Hadley didn't pick up any younguns at a Gas Station (at least not that we know of)... What NFL team wouldn't look for help elsewhere when one of their key players displayed a pattern of behavior like this? -
Great stuff...thanks Wing--

Triumph over adversity rather than controversy or tragedy. I am not asking the media to be pollyannish--but let us hear at least a few more stories like this one... Ryan Belflower

I think its part of his master plan to employ more scalpers this year. With TD there is always an ulterior, satan driven motive. BTW, it took 20 minutes to get the ticket office this AM to place a group order. The account rep who answered said it was crazy.....The Ralph will be rockin' every week.

Section 315 rows 19, 20, 21 seats 11-15 in each row. Have probably 3 or 4 extras--PM if interested. Its a 4 o'clock game on 10/16.

I am placing a group order tomorrow (first day of group sales) for the Jet's Game (October 16). We will probably have a couple of extra seats out of the 15. If anyone was headed to that game but was planning on waiting to order until individual tickets went on sale, PM me if you are interested in getting a couple tickets early.

Lenny, Lenny, Lenny Folks--this has to be the most written about non-trade in the history of the NFL. I could care less if we trade Travis for a bucket of sh-- and two spoons right now--just make it stop... From this week's tipsheet: Take it to the bank, at some point before the start of the regular season, Buffalo Bills tailback Travis Henry will be traded. To whom? Uh, we'll get back to you on that one. This much we know: There remain multiple teams interested in securing Henry, still a quality back despite losing his starting job to Willis McGahee last year, and a guy who has a couple 1,000-yard campaigns on his résumé. Sooner or later (probably later), some team is going to meet the Bills' asking price, believed to be a third-round draft choice, and pull the trigger on a deal. That team probably won't be Houston, which continues to consider upgrading the No. 2 spot behind Domanick Davis, but doesn't appear as interested in Henry as a few other teams. That's notable because a report indicated this week that the Texans are the only club still talking with Buffalo about a Henry deal. Not true. A league source tells us Tennessee and Jacksonville are still in the mix for Henry and there have been "extensive" discussions between Titans officials and Henry's agent. That makes sense, since Henry is entering the final year of his contract, and no team is going to trade for him just to rent him for a season and then have him depart next spring in free agency. Tennessee absolutely has to land a tailback to play behind the talented but often-injured Chris Brown. The Jaguars remain concerned about Fred Taylor's knee and might want someone with a little more real-game experience than LaBrandon Toefield, who has just 104 carries in two seasons, or impressive rookie Alvin Pearman. There were reports last week the Jaguars had discussed a trade for Seattle tailback Shaun Alexander, but Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio was pretty convincing in debunking such talks. It would be difficult to have Taylor around in 2005, at a base salary of $1.55 million and be able to afford the kind of long-term contract Alexander desires. But we do hear that, in the Henry matter, Seattle is still a dark-horse landing spot, should the Seahawks ever find someone to take the unhappy Alexander off their hands.

If we want real throwback we should go back to Gerald Ford era leather helmets. Gerry in leather Wonder if Jack Kemp would have ended up like President Ford (imbalanced and unsteady) if he would have worn the leather strap. things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.....

20 years ago...he beat up Phil Donahue and snuck into the Donahue/Marlo Thomas abode and made nasty with Marlo....He responded positively to phrases like: "Phil, you're an albino tiger tonight." "Oh Phil, you fill me...."

God bless Hunter that little angel and fighter.

Tyrone, Tyrone, Tyrone--get a room Wasn't the rumor right before the draft Henry for Calico--looks like there is some cosmic synergy to such a trade. Henry for Calico and a fifth (maybe a fifth of underage love potion number 9)

Don't forget the Geritol and Metamucil. In scene 6, Rambo was headed out to save the world but forgot his trifocals. In scene 7, he meets 91 year old Mark Felt -- they swap dentures and stories about being contra-status quo. In scene 8-Rambo just plain forgets who the hell he is....

Happy Birthday young man...

Kirk Reynolds is probably selling them somewhere on the web to make ends meet. It sounds Benny Hill esque --- really funny stuff. But a really stuuuuupid thing to have laying around the office....

That's right Roc. Its essentially a 4 year deal when you add the minimum qualifying offer most picks who contribute to the team are given at the end of the contract. If Lionel turns into a stud--he then would get an RFA qualifying offer that would up his compensation if he signed somewhere else as an RFA. An interesting situation to watch will be Terrence McGee's next off-season. He was a 4th round pick and his original deal expires at the end of the season I believe. The Bills will probably offer him a large qualifying offer that would require a first round pick in compensation if he signs elsewhere--but it has been reported that they are working on an extension for him. It would be nice to lock him up for 2 or 3 more years.

I heard the Orlando Predators have offered us their 1st round pick in the 2006 AFL draft and a Mickey Mouse Football uniform plush. Get er done TD....

It was time for a career change anyway...oh well. Anyone got a clean mop handy..the floors sure are dirty around here...

JP Losman. He left the film room today for 15 minutes to go smoke a butt and Sam caught him. They would release Sam Adams and Mike Williams but the Quick Service Restaurant operators of Western NY got together and agreed to pay half their salaries They tried to release Josh Reed, but he dropped the waiver letter Need anymore--I got a million of them.... I would expect noone unless we need to clear a roster spot for a signing.

We, as Bills fans, obviously need to be realistic about having a second year QB running the team. Its been played a million times that JP is taking basically his first real NFL snaps and there isn't a great track record of success for guys in JP's position. This continual coverage of how hard he is working is getting a little tired. He is being paid a lot to play the most important position on the team--he better be bolted to that chair in the film room and he better be lifting and running every day and working with his receivers--that's a minimum expectation. Also, the coverage of his inexperience is also a bit overboard...how many times can it be written that the Bills are taking a risk here..and how many NFL teams take risk with personnel--maybe 32 a year. Granted, not all at the QB position--but let's hope this risk is more Tom Brady than Ryan Leaf.... What Florio tries to pass as "breaking news" here is a joke. Unfortunately, its more often than not what he posts on his site. Everytime he comes up with a nugget that is true, he kills it by posting 100 other blindingly obvious or just plain made up things. Oh well, the wonders of the 'net--got to take the good with the bad.

Here's today's beauty...... SOME BILLS THOUGHT BLEDSOE SHOULD STAY We're hearing that there was a difference of opinion in the Buffalo front office regarding whether to give former starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe the hook after the 2004 season. Geez Mike I certainly hope that there was some debate. Isn't there debate on almost every personnel decision. I hope we pay Modrak, Guy, the scouts, the assistant coaches to do more than be yes men.... It was, we're told, a move made by G.M. Tom Donahoe and coach Mike Mularkey, and that not all members of the front office wanted to yank him. The thinking was that Bledsoe can still throw, and that the team's offensive line generally sucked during his tenure. Wow--now there is something that hasn't been written before. You are a regular Geraldo. Next stop for you is Osama's cave to tell us that he intends to harm the US and our interests. Stop the presses. We're also hearing that there are concerns as to whether the successor to Bledsoe, J.P. Losman, will pan out. Per one source, it's a 50-50 proposition at best as to whether he'll make it. Even if he does, he might only be "adequate at best" as a starting quarterback. Let's see 50/50--that is better odds than let's say 75% of the QB's drafted in the first round. I'll take those odds--Tim Couch, Ryan Leaf, Andre Ware, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller...just to name a few.... Another brilliant article by Mike...thanks so much for your insightful reporting. I am blown away by these shocking revelations

Hey Robby Gordon...have another Doughnut.....Danica would have kicked your ass at the brickyard today...

I agree Nanker. Sullivan had to get in his Buffalo News' me too article on this. Wilson and Gaughan had already written about JP's work habits and it is getting a tad tired. On the other side, I will take all the 4-12 predictions (like the one from the Sporting News this week) we can get right now--I think that will motivate this team to rally around JP and prove they are better than last year.... This is going to be an exciting year..by the end of it we should know a lot about this team for the next 4 or 5 seasons...we have the potential to be in the top 10 of the NFL for an extended period if JP, Evans, McGahee can form a healthy and talented nucleus on O and TKO, McGee, Clements, Schobel, Kelsay, Anderson/Edwards on D....

Linked on the TBD home page--but for those of you who don't visit the home page--its worth the read. Yes, its from Jerry Sullivan and its worth the read...I am still contemplating the gravity of that statement... JP and Sam

Robby Gordon won't try to pull his double race this year at Indy and Charlotte. The race times have changed--making this more difficult--but he's also afraid of getting beat by a girl....she weighs less--and that's an unfair advantage???? Come on Robby--come up with something better than that... Robby's a load, Danica's petite

I say A-rod money....
