I have heard raves about this young man and was wondering if any of you Syracuse guys have seen him play football or basketball? The basketball staff at Duke is jacked about this kid--both his attitude and his skill...they have said he is Bobby Hurley with better quicks, vision and shot. Just wondering.....thanks.... Maybe he spends four years at Duke on the hardwood and then plays QB for the Bills when JP retires after winning 6 super bowls in his first 6 years as a starter

I think Pat needs to shut up and play football for the Vikings instead of playing a combination of Tucker Carlson and Kreskin for his old team. and for those of you too young to remember Kreskin....Mentalist

Reference points on my comments versus the run were early games and then a regression against Pittsburgh. I think it was the first Jets game where they really picked on him-to the tune of 3 or 4 straight plays to his side for an average of 6 or 7 a carry-he began to improve in the second half of this game. It was trial by fire. The Miami game at home also there where a couple of plays in the first half with Sammy Morris running where he was non-existent. I definitely believe he improved, but can still get better. As for the Pittsburgh game--I think the entire D-line had an off day that day. I guess I looked at this original question as what does he need to do to become an elite player, but we do have a different opinion of him against the run. ________________________________________________________ Here was a comment from TD in a 12/20/2004 Chat: Tom Donahoe: Chris Kelsay has shown outstanding improvement each week of the season. As a matter of fact, our defensive end position with Chris, Aaron Schobel and Ryan Denney is one of the deeper positions on our football team. We actually feel that we have three starters at that position. You can see the improvement in Chris' play with his ability to be better against the run in terms of recognizing what teams are trying to do to him. As a pass rusher he has provided a very good compliment to Aaron Schobel. Chris has brought toughness and a top work ethic to our team. ____________________________________________________ It doesn't mean he stunk--just needed to improve. Anyway--I would still much rather have you coaching a football team than me. Your analysis is always pretty much spot on.

I think that Chris Kelsay won the starting battle and moves into camp as the established starter. I really like Kelsay, and I would share your optimism, but I am concerned about a couple of things-- He needs to really improve against the run this year to take a step up. He got blown out a few times on the edge and needs to be able to better shed blocks. I saw a couple of times where he got engulfed with no response--he didn't even have a chance to shed because the tackle just overpowered him or he got double teamed. Elite ends beat blocks more often than he did. On the pass rush side--he has good burst and good moves--but he needs to finish. I like pressures--but I like sacks better.

Other than my lovely wife, the best part of the family is in the avatar, except its outdated...#4 came on February 24th...the little guy will be included after this year's Christmas card picture is taken at the beach this coming weekend. -
The man says he won't play for less than a 5 year $35 Million dollar deal. Says he'll retire....he's been out for a week and a half and noone seems to be stepping up with that kind of jack...hope he enjoys sans-a-belt polyester pants, white leather shoes and the early bird specials. Nineteen years until the AARP card kid. Here are these gems from his short time coach Romeo Crennel: Crennel on Verba and Shelton Three-fifths of the line is new, and despite Ross Verba's claims to the contrary, coach Romeo Crennel thinks that adding L.J. Shelton and discarding Verba might be an upgrade. ``It's an even tradeoff, (and) we might be ahead of the game,'' Crennel said Friday after attending a news conference to announce the team's donation of $300,000 to Cleveland schools. ``Because we got a bigger guy who has experience and who has played the position. It might help us more in the running game.'' Crennel admits that Shelton is ``not in ideal condition'' but added that there's time before training camp. Shelton, penciled in as the new left tackle, missed three games last season with a knee injury. Crennel on Verba's attitude Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Ross Verba was released by the Browns last week, leaving many in the Cleveland organization relieved. Especially new head coach Romeo Crennel. “He had a history off the field,” Crennel said. “I wasn’t too crazy about that to be honest with you. The best thing for the team was to move him out.”

Thank you for your kind concern. I can carry on now believing that someone cares. It may have just been the quintuple expresso talking. -

Holy Cowpoop..another Travis speculation story

You have mistaken Ralph Wilson for Jerry Jones. I will amend my original statement to say that to some teams this stuff does matter. -

I agree to a point jarthur. Hadley Englehard deserves a lot of this blame. But think about it for a second. Hadley didn't almost spend himself into bankruptcy forcing an extension and signing bonus at a below market rate to pay off debts and Hadley didn't pick up any younguns at a Gas Station (at least not that we know of)... What NFL team wouldn't look for help elsewhere when one of their key players displayed a pattern of behavior like this? -
Great stuff...thanks Wing--

Triumph over adversity rather than controversy or tragedy. I am not asking the media to be pollyannish--but let us hear at least a few more stories like this one... Ryan Belflower

I think its part of his master plan to employ more scalpers this year. With TD there is always an ulterior, satan driven motive. BTW, it took 20 minutes to get the ticket office this AM to place a group order. The account rep who answered said it was crazy.....The Ralph will be rockin' every week.

Section 315 rows 19, 20, 21 seats 11-15 in each row. Have probably 3 or 4 extras--PM if interested. Its a 4 o'clock game on 10/16.

I am placing a group order tomorrow (first day of group sales) for the Jet's Game (October 16). We will probably have a couple of extra seats out of the 15. If anyone was headed to that game but was planning on waiting to order until individual tickets went on sale, PM me if you are interested in getting a couple tickets early.

Lenny, Lenny, Lenny Folks--this has to be the most written about non-trade in the history of the NFL. I could care less if we trade Travis for a bucket of sh-- and two spoons right now--just make it stop... From this week's tipsheet: Take it to the bank, at some point before the start of the regular season, Buffalo Bills tailback Travis Henry will be traded. To whom? Uh, we'll get back to you on that one. This much we know: There remain multiple teams interested in securing Henry, still a quality back despite losing his starting job to Willis McGahee last year, and a guy who has a couple 1,000-yard campaigns on his résumé. Sooner or later (probably later), some team is going to meet the Bills' asking price, believed to be a third-round draft choice, and pull the trigger on a deal. That team probably won't be Houston, which continues to consider upgrading the No. 2 spot behind Domanick Davis, but doesn't appear as interested in Henry as a few other teams. That's notable because a report indicated this week that the Texans are the only club still talking with Buffalo about a Henry deal. Not true. A league source tells us Tennessee and Jacksonville are still in the mix for Henry and there have been "extensive" discussions between Titans officials and Henry's agent. That makes sense, since Henry is entering the final year of his contract, and no team is going to trade for him just to rent him for a season and then have him depart next spring in free agency. Tennessee absolutely has to land a tailback to play behind the talented but often-injured Chris Brown. The Jaguars remain concerned about Fred Taylor's knee and might want someone with a little more real-game experience than LaBrandon Toefield, who has just 104 carries in two seasons, or impressive rookie Alvin Pearman. There were reports last week the Jaguars had discussed a trade for Seattle tailback Shaun Alexander, but Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio was pretty convincing in debunking such talks. It would be difficult to have Taylor around in 2005, at a base salary of $1.55 million and be able to afford the kind of long-term contract Alexander desires. But we do hear that, in the Henry matter, Seattle is still a dark-horse landing spot, should the Seahawks ever find someone to take the unhappy Alexander off their hands.

If we want real throwback we should go back to Gerald Ford era leather helmets. Gerry in leather Wonder if Jack Kemp would have ended up like President Ford (imbalanced and unsteady) if he would have worn the leather strap. things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.....
