  1. Bitter? I'm freaking jolly! Alrighty, then. So far, so good. A. What we know about the bulk of the Bills defensive personnel is from their performance in a 4-3. We can suppose/guess/infer how these skills might translate, but there is really little reliable evidence for us to go on. B. As the Bills have yet to really show their scheme, we can only infer exactly what approach to the 3-4 they have in mind. There is probably some evidence here. The Bills D in preseason probably has some flavor of what we can expect. We can take a look at what George Edwards liked to do his one previous year at DC. (Probably the best evidence we have so far, yet not really that great when you think of it.) C. Speaking of "flavor" the Bills played the 3-4 maybe half the time during preseason? Correct me if I'm wrong here. I have no charts or anything. But my drunken recollection is the Bills played a bunch of 4-3/4-2-5 (I think)/etc. Are they really going to be showing a 3-4 you are assuming and how often are they going to show something different? You see, not only do I know football, I know how to analyze data. Understand, it isn't that I don't share your concern. I don't share you seemingly absolute certainty based on the available data.
  2. [quote name='Bill from NYC' timestamp='1284082758' post='How many less seats would they have sold were it not for Spiller? I get messages from And btw, jw openly stated that Mr. Wilson WAS involved with that particular selection. JW? Jhan Gailey? Juddy Hicks? Jalph Hilson? Wilson's involvement, or not, I fail to see how with players like Clausen and Tebow available (to name two) the choice of CJ Spiller was a "marketing choice". Did you notice the outpouring of approval from Bills fans? Me neither. Did you hear the din of disapproval they didn't get an OT or QB or an OLB? Me too. CJ Spiller. Another running back with Lynch and Jackson already in the fold. CJ Spiller...no Heisman. Not the constant the primary/constant focus of pre-draft media coverage. CJ Spiller. Just an undersized, highly productive and dynamic, multi-threat that Gailey simply LOVES to have. Yup. They only drafted him for "marketing" purposes.
  3. Me too (except it's only 7 pages the way I have the board configured). As for Sublime, they really suck, but are they overrated? I think most know they suck.
  4. That's one of my all-time favorites. Ricky was kicking the Bills ass...and then it started to come down. You could see defeat just roll over the faces of the Phins. It was beautiful and the crowd pounced right on it.
  5. You're welcome.
  6. You don't think there can be several reasons for the decline? If it were a GREAT economy you don't think there may be fewer people who give up their season tickets? I'm guessing it is a number of things. The Bills continual losing has to be one of the biggest, but I would guess the economy plays a part, too. BTW, I have heard some say the Bills picked CJ Spiller as some brilliant marketing ploy (you listening Bill?). I guess that was poorly played, then.
  7. Bingo! Schoop and Sully are Big Men on the Moron Campus.
  8. I don't accept that "commonly accepted" equals "correct". Sorry, that's not one you get by me. The average person is a moron. Most of the rest I agree with. And, yes, when I write Haiku in English (which isn't very often...maybe one or two a year during Phin week) I do indeed use the 5-7-5 syllable method. But, the "truth" of the matter is, Haiku is a Japanese art form and syllables don't really apply. A decent definition is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku Excerpt: Furthermore, Haiku in English isn't really even strictly 5-7-5 syllables as noted here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku_in_English Excerpt: One might find fault with some of the Haiku here, which clearly state Miami sucks and will lose, as that pretty much "tells all". But I don't take exception to that. What I was really trying to say, in the post you initially responded to is, there are more variations of Haiku (even English language Haiku) than the 5-7-5 we normally assume. But even assuming that, some here aren't Haiku by ANY definition, as they have far too many moras, syllables, etc. So, really, that was my point.
  9. Old time Hockey? Eddie Shack??? That's what struck me, too.
  10. Mitchell seems to be a rather average LB, play in and play out. But he does have a knack of making big plays when it counts.
  11. Don't you hate stuff that is commonly accepted, but not correct? I do.
  12. Really? Nothing? No peer pressure? No pressure from the NFL or the team? No rule? How can you be so positive? Please present your PROOF for this statement.
  13. Bills haven't been the worst team in the NFL in quite a while. Don't know why anyone thinks the worst-to-first scenario applies to them.
  14. Fortunately I missed those very insightful posts.
  15. Well, we know what the Jets D is like but NONE of us knows what the Bills D schemes are like. If you are assuming the Bills are going to do the same thing they did under Jauron then you are assuming with little evidence. We have yet to see ONE SINGLE PLAY from the Bills D in an actual, counts in the standings, game. But go ahead and blather on, and assume the worst.
  16. Good call, it does look a bit like a dong. I didn't notice til you mentioned it, though. I think that script jersey is OK and might look good while it is on a person. It has a REALLY old school feel.
  17. Thanks for that. I always wondered what "the rumor" was that Nelson referred to. I still have never heard that rumor, except now, from Nelson.
  18. I doubt it as I don't really think he has any real love or passion for football, let alone the bills. If he did, he would probably focus on the least articulate and most negative of the posters, as that melds with his preconceived attitude, in general. Neither 6-10 nor 8-8 represents "bottoming out". As usual Sully is clueless.
  19. He is wrong about the 5 syllables, 7 syllables. 5 syllables. It is actually 5,7,5 moras (which don't always translate precisely to syllables). But he is correct that some of the verses presented in this thread are not Haiku.
  20. Or made them very inexpensive to buy and test.
  21. And like football in Detroit, hasn't gotten any better.
  22. She said. "I can't feel my face"...and then she actually feels her face. What am I suppose to believe?
  23. Are you sure he didn't make them from paper mache?
