1. No, I didn't.

Dobies are nice too, tho. :)

Thanks... I always thought that the term "Devil Dogs" refered to the use of Doberman Pinschers in WWII, in the Pacific Theater? I didn't know it stretched back to WWI and the bulldog... I guess the term is applied to other breeds? Or just the animals the Marines use?

  2. Bulldog?  You obviously meant doberman.

    165457

The Marines did use them to root out Japanese snipers in the south Pacific.

Is that your doggy Darin? Looks like a red?

Growing up we had one... The best dog in the world... Except the one time my car was broken into in the middle of summer, windows open and the blasted thing slept like a baby in bed, 20 feet away!

  3. he is NO  bruschi

sox are no longer overrated, they are the champs.  yankees are overrated. yanks would have been overrated for years if they were not able to outspend everybody else. remember what the yanks were doing for most of the 80's and early 90's? they were looking up in the standings at the redsox because they didnt get to completely out spend everybody.

    Look trolling Patsie!

Get down on your knees and thank the Bills and Ralph Wilson for saving your favorite franchise when the Sullivans acted like bums.

RW for HoF and keeping the AFL together!

But, then again, you probably knew that?

  4. If that's true, it explains a lot about the Marines' use of the bulldog as a mascot.... :D

Back to the original question, tho. Realize that any dog has the potential to bite if they've been raised by people who just don't care. But also, don't assume the worst. I would recommend you go there with your kids and introduce them to the dog by putting out a clenched fist, in a nonthreatening manner, to let the dog sniff it and get acclimated to them. A lot of problems arise when dogs are just too overexcited to meet and sniff new things. Get it out of the way in a calm manner. Continue to watch them closely, tho.

You are gonna catch flak for that one! And to think, they are always knocking the "squids?"

  5. The British Bulldog is one that has been altered by the kennel club into a freak of ill health, the original British Bulldog breed resembles the American version.

Would not surprise me that with the current version of the British breed they would sink and not swim, the poor things are barely capable of running.

    165421

That is what strikes me about that breed... Yet, my sister-in-law and husband felt compelled to get on... Loveable yes... When it runs it can barley get a breath out and when the mass of folded skin passes gas, you don't want to be around!

    :D

  6. I'm 23 and I started to like the Bills in the early 90s as well.  I dont think that makes me any less of a fan than those long-timers just because my parents didnt decide to screw until it was far too late for me to suffer through the early 80s brand of Bills football.

Of course, the whole age issue doesnt really apply to me in this circumstance since I'd NEVER bet against the Bills for any reason...thats just me.

    165393

Some of the early 80's football was great.

Buffalo beats Miami for the first time in a decade / 20 tries.

    "I've Got a Feeling"

Roland Hooks "Big Ben" against the Patsies.

Some lean years there... Yet, the future always seems bright for the Bills compared to other teams.

They do average playoff births more regularly than a lot of other teams...

  7. I am pretty sure that the American Bulldogs are the taller ones... Where the British type are more squat and fatter. They are not pit bulls. My sister-in-law has a British Bulldog and the thing couldn't hurt a fly.

I heard somewhere that Bulldogs are the only dog that can't swim? Is this true? I gues they sink because they are so squat and muscled?

    ????

  8. Cub fans BoSox fans, what's the difference? That brings me to my favorite baseball rant... The same can probably be said for fans of both teams... (Lee Elia, 1983):

    :devil::D

[WARNING: Not for the gentle natured... :P;) ]:

F*ck those f*ckin' fans who come out here and say they're Cub fans that are supposed to be behind you, rippin' every f*ckin' thing you do. I'll tell you one f*ckin' thing, I hope we get f*ckin' hotter than sh*t, just to stuff it up them 3,000 f*ckin' people that show up every f*ckin' day, because if they're the real Chicago f*ckin' fans, they can kiss my f*ckin' ass right downtown and PRINT IT.

They're really, really behind you around here...my f*ckin' ass. What the f*ck am I supposed to do, go out there and let my f*ckin' players get destroyed every day and be quiet about it? For the f*ckin' nickel-dime people who turn up? The motherf*ckers don't even work. That's why they're out at the f*ckin' game. They oughta go out and get a f*ckin' job and find out what it's like to go out and earn a f*ckin' living. Eighty-five percent of the f*ckin' world is working. The other fifteen percent come out here. A f*ckin' playground for the cocks*ckers. Rip them motherf*ckers. Rip them f*ckin' cocks*ckers like the f*ckin' players. We got guys bustin' their f*ckin' ass, and them f*ckin' people boo. And that's the Cubs? My f*ckin' ass. They talk about the great f*ckin' support the players get around here. I haven't see it this f*ckin' year. Everybody associated with this organization have been winners their whole f*ckin' life. Everybody. And the credit is not given in that respect.

Alright, they don't show because we're 5 and 14...and unfortunately, that's the criteria of them dumb fifteen motherf*ckin' percent that come out to day baseball. The other eighty-five percent are earning a living. I tell you, it'll take more than a 5 and 12 or 5 and 14 to destroy the makeup of this club. I guarantee you that. There's some f*ckin' pros out there that wanna win. But you're stuck in a f*ckin' stigma of the f*ckin' Dodgers and the Phillies and the Cardinals an all that cheap sh*t. It's unbelievable. It really is. It's a disheartening f*ckin' situation that we're in right now. Anybody who was associated with the Cub organization four or five years ago that came back and sees the multitude of progress that's been made will understand that if they're baseball people, that 5 and 14 doesn't negate all that work. We got 143 f*ckin' games left.

What I'm tryin' to say is don't rip them f*ckin' guys out there. Rip me. If you wanna rip somebody, rip my f*ckin' ass. But don't rip them f*ckin' guys 'cause they're givin' everything they can give. And right now they're tryin' to do more than God gave 'em, and that's why we make the simple mistakes. That's exactly why.

  9. You're right.  I don't believe in that technology because it's not fool proof.  I'm not leaving my safety or that of my family to some friggin' Dexter out there.  Raise your kids the right way and it won't be an issue.

    164811

Exactly! But, you know some will make that mistake. It does sound promising.

  10. I fortunately don't have that problem. I live alone. I actually use a loaded .380 as a paperweight on my desk.

This, to me, could be a good fit for the "smart gun" technology, where the gun is electronically "fitted" to it's owner. No one else is able to fire it. That way, one could have a loaded 9 on the shelf, without fear of the kids blowing each other away.

    164709

To me... Such technology sounds awesome and I would be an ardent supporter of stuff like that.

Also... By stating this... You just invited AD into a "pissing contest"... :o

  11. I think the prices were quite good.

    164265

Ya... This outfit was doing just fine:

    Patriotic striped dress shirt $78

    Blueblood blazer $121

    Alcoholics Anonymous donation $5

    War with Iraq $3 trillion

Damn, the acessories will get you all the time!

    :o:lol:

  12. A firearm + training + the willingness to use it WOULD have helped in this story. There would be two dead criminals, and a child without abdomenal stab wounds.

    164629

You can say that but, nothing is set in stone. There are so many variables to this story... Would she have pulled a loaded gun out from under her hat? Or do you think a handgun would have been kept out of site, unloaded, knowing a 3 year old child was around?...

We just don't know what would have happened?... IMHO, in more instances, the plan of defending yourself with that firearm would have taken numerous twists.

Just be thankful that both are alive and recovering... If they want to take a different route next time, let them.
