  1. You guessed correctly. How is this one - I do not know whether it was mentioned: You Can't Always Get What You Want.
  2. Totally agree. She has been one of my favorites. Thanks.
  3. Behind Blue Eyes - The Who.
  4. For what it is worth, this song conjures up some pretty good memories for me.
  5. Spc. Barker pleads guilty to avoid death penalty
  6. Angie - Rolling Stones
  7. Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
  8. They are called the Green Bay Packers.
  9. Going to California - Led Zep.
  10. These next two years should be interesting. There may be some issues that could achieve bipartisan support. I also suspect that W will start thinking more about his legacy. That could lead him to get together with democrats on immigration and some other issues. Ultimately, his legacy is going to be what happens with Iraq. Once the Baker report comes out, there are going to be some interesting discussions taking place both in and out of the White House. Regarding the Dems, it always is easier to be in the stands criticizing what is happening. The Dems now have control over one branch of government. With power comes responsibility. It will be interesting to see how they use their power. I suspect that, in the end, the next two years are going to be mostly about both parties trying to keep/get the White House.
  11. I was not referring to you. I was referring to others who posted in a completely different thread on the night he was murdered. The inconsistency is that, on the one hand you are saying that we should not have any opinions until more facts come out, on the other hand you are saying that we should not be critical of people who have expressed their opinions before the facts come out. To me, that appears to be inconsistent. Further, the point of my initial post in this thread was that some posters expressed some a pretty horrible opinion that the guy was a "thug" within hours of his murder without knowing anything other than that he was murdered. What we do know (from what I have read in the paper) is that (1) he never had been in trouble with the law; (2) he was shot in the back of the head.
  12. For my third selection, I choose: L.A. Woman by the Doors. Not only is it a great song, I remember many a night at the old P.M. (across from the zoo in Buffalo) singing that song with my drunken friends and having a great time.
  13. Great song. My only "complaint" is that I wish it were longer.
  14. Your statement is inconsistent. I agree with the first part of what you said -- let's wait to see how things turn out. In the meantime, I am going to give the kid the benefit of the doubt rather than presume that he was a "thug" (as some posters did here within hours after he was brutally murdered without knowing anything other than he was shot and killed).
  15. I would seem to me that when someone is shot and killed, people should not automatically take the position that the kid was a thug. As for being shot in the back of the head, that does tell you something. It is consistent with not being in a threatening position (to his killer) and is further consistent with the statements of others that he was walking away. If they ever catch the guy who did it, that fact is going to be a critical piece of evidence both with respect to intent (and any purported claim of self defense) as well as sentencing (e.g., the death penalty).
  16. DaQuix. Thanks for having my back on this one. I just read your posts, and I could not have said it better.
  17. Bush 41 hates Rumsfeld. By all accounts, Cheney changed and went over to the dark side. Now, he also is on the outside looking in and will have very little influence in the White House. In fact, on the McLaughlin Group, they were even talking about the possibility that he could be gone (although they concluded that he would never resign). Powell and Rice were neutered by the neocons. Powell was the only voice of reason and where did that get him. The neocons engineered his dismissal. The neocons also tried to engineer Condi's dismissal. In fact, Rumsfeld would not even return her calls. Now, with the return of the pragmatists to the White House, Rice should have much more influence and be much more effective.
  18. For my day two pick, I choose: U2 - I will follow. There are so many songs from which to choose. I am choosing this song because, not only is it a great song, it is my four year old son's favorite song and we jumping around in the family room and singing it. What can I say -- my son has great taste in music for a little guy.
  19. That is the main reason why that song is my favorite song of all time.
  20. Over reacting? It seems to me that the people on this board who automatically assumed that a young guy (who never had been in trouble before) who was shot in the back of his head and killed was a "thug" were the people over reacting.
  21. Are you disputing that he got shot in the back of the head?!?!
  22. This link is for all of the ridiculous and classless posters who claimed Bryan Pata was a "thug" (even though he got shot and killed): Bryan Pata walked away from an argument and was shot in the back of the head
  23. I would not be surprised if the (new) Senate Intelligence Committee looks at the use of pre-war intelligence -- and appropriately so.
  24. The silver lining is that the Germans no longer waterboard.
