  1. No issue with a doctor making snap judgments based on video, and I'm sure he's going to be right about those judgments more than the average layperson. I stick to my point that it's still Dr. Oz - type quackery that made this doc popular online. And for the record, I'd let Dr. Oz perform heart surgery on me in a second, but I think half of what he says on tv is garbage.
  2. Ok yea the guy is injured and out for a few weeks but quit it with the quackery of deciding whether it's an MCL or ACL solely based on video replay. It's a waste.
  3. While I'm certainly happy with the way the Ryan fumble/White touchdown worked out, I'm always uncomfortable with the interaction between the way these plays are treated on the field, and the application of the review standards. Understandably, refs are reluctant to be too quick to blow the whistle in these scenarios so that they can let the play completely finish. In my opinion, this creates a confirmatory bias on the part of the refs to make their "call on the field" match up with the outcome that resulted from not having blown the whistle (in this case, TD Buffalo). Then you're suddenly in a situation where the call will stand without conclusive evidence to the contrary. I don't know how to fix this. Sure, you do see instances where they let the play completely finish and then decide that the call on the field is an incomplete pass, but I don't think it happens as much as it probably should. Also, it puts the refs in a situation where they're talking about a play that's now 60+ seconds old and trying to decide what happened in a split second, bang-bang moment. I don't know what the right answer is, but sometimes I think we need to let the refs do the job they were trained for, and see a play take place in real time and actually react with a definitive whistle. Or just give greater deference to the booth review.
  4. My original post was most definitely not an "incredible wisdom nugget." If that were a requirement, I fear there'd be precious few conversations happening on this board. As you correctly point out, I'm not a frequent poster but I am a loyal reader, and I suspect that the majority of the members of this group are like me. I'm relatively quiet because the smart and frequent posters on here tend to do a great job of making the right arguments for whatever position I happen to side with. Being in LA, I posted something that I thought was interesting and that might not have been picked up by the regulars. And I didn't even mean it as a shot at Taylor, but it's funny how just about any thread can devolve into a debate over Taylor's ability. Read the whole thread. Not about just saying generically great things.
  5. You are so welcome! Fair enough. My point wasn't meant to express surprise at a wide receiver saying nice things about a new QB - it was simply the fact that of the 1,000 nice things Sammy could have said, he mentioned what is widely accepted as Taylor's achilles heel. Nope, not scandalous; just an interesting tidbit during an otherwise boring week 3 of preseason.
  6. Cool, please provide a link of the Boldin quote talking about how Taylor doesn't look and trusts that the receiver will get to the spot. You are correct.
  7. If you can't imply from his statement that he's drawing a contrast to Taylor, then you're right - it tells you nothing.
  8. Thanks for catching that - Trevor is just my go-to name for random white QBs.
  9. In today's LA Times, Sammy said the following about working with Rams QB Jared Goff: "The more reps you get with him, the more he can trust you and the more comfortable he is with throwing the ball to you, Watkins said. [its great] to have a guy that doesnt even look your way, just look the safety off and throw you the ball, because he depends on you to be at the right spot. As compared to...
  10. But if anyone can come back from this, it's him, right?
  11. Yes, it's horribly premature to discuss, but since we currently sit as the 5 seed, I can't help myself. The difference between the 5 and 6 seed this year is going to be pretty huge. If the season ended today, here are the paths of each to get to the AFC Championship: 5 seed: @ Colts @ Bengals 6 seed: @Broncos @Pats Of course getting in is without a doubt priority number 1, but wow those are two very different paths...
  12. Hmm, not what you'd expect out of Marshawn's "big brother"....but hope he is okay. http://www.tmz.com/2015/10/20/marshawn-lynch-drag-race-fred-jackson/
  13. Does anyone know if there will be a digital/streaming ONLY option this year (i.e., not requiring a dish)?

  15. I can't understand those saying that Marrone is somehow disloyal, weak, etc., for leaving the Bills. Take the emotion out of it and how is it not an incredibly easy economic decision for him? That $4MM can go straight to the bank and take care of his children and grandchildren. If someone told you today that you could be cut a check for one year's pay and go find a comparable job tomorrow, what would you say?
  16. I didn't like the slide either, but honestly the second defender that came into the picture could have potentially tatoo-ed Orton short of the first down and caused a fumble. Not saying it would have happened, but I also think Orton knows his limitations and it was realistically a 50-50 as far as getting the first down. I wish he had tried.
  17. How 'bout that clock management on the prior drive though? Disgusting.
  18. Was anyone else furious about the timeout call on our 2nd to last drive after Orton hit Sammy over the middle to get us into Detroit territory? There's no way you shouldn't let the clock keep running there and ensure we are the last to hold the ball. Easily forgotten given all the craziness that ensued afterwards, but we could have had a first down at the Detroit 40 with appx 45 seconds left and instead we call timeout with - 1:18 maybe? - and promptly go 3 and out from there.
  19. Why didn't Pharrell wear his big Arby's hat to the press conference?
  20. Does this one work? If not oh well, not like today can get any worse. www.sikids.com/kid-reporter-blogs/2012/09/27/a-look-at-the-superfans
  21. Awful loss today, I hope my nephew's article at least reminds us why we are the greatest fans in the NFL... http://www.sikids.com/kid-reporter-blogs/2012/09/27/a-look-at-the-superfans
  22. http://sportsillustr...html?xid=cnnbin I agree with other posters who would say too soon for this kind of talk, but you can't deny his stats.
  23. Make my first play a play action fake which almost certainly will suck the Jets depleted defense into trying to stopp the run. This will give even Fitzy a bunch of time to let Stevie put a double move on Revis and catch a relatively short pass but have space to run after the catch. I never understood the obsession with predicting the first play of the offense. Usually people want a hail mary or something else dramatic. With around 65 offensive plays over 4 quarters, is the first one more important than any of the others? Nope. Are NFL players stupid enough to bite on a play action on the first snap and then honor the run from that point forward? Nope.
  24. As a long time TBD reader and first time poster, I thought you all might get a kick out of my nephew's article. He's a "kid blogger" for SI for Kids. At least the Bills are getting some national media exposure in the 7 to 13 year-old demographic! Oh, and go easy, he's 11 years old! http://www.sikids.com/kid-reporter-blogs/2012/01/24/its-not-easy-being-a-bills-fan
