There was an interesting article in this morning's paper - not that that any wingnut would read it or give it credence, but it's there - that discussed how Obama could live in Chicago and yet not be part of the filthy politics that is Chicago. The net of this article was that Obama did not rise up through the Chicago political machine and was pretty much an "outsider", who didn't benefit from that network, and therefore is not a part of it. Obviously being a politician, and a politician from IL, is probably embarrassing (to ALL of them) because this isn't a "party" thing....it's Chicago.

There is no proof that ANY of the potential candidates were ever approached or anything solicited from them. This was stated by the attorney general's office. My own suspicion is that this dirtball was thinking he'd put the screws to Candidate #5's daddy ... I don't think Senior has that kind of money, but he's probably capable of raising it. Would he? I don't know. I would imagine that ambitious as Senior is, he's learned a thing or two from his past mistakes and would be smart enough not to fall forit. I'm sure we'll be hearing more. If the dirtball won't resign then I don't know that they can do much about his until he's convicted...maybe recall?

Last I checked he's got to get thru 2009 first. I'd imagine people will look at 2009 in evaluating how they vote in 2010.

Nope. I just had an epiphany. Apparently my mother was totally wrong when she told me that polite people refrain from using vile language to each other and that it is possible to have disagreements without getting vicious. She didn't know about FREE SPEECH. Apparently FREE SPEECH means that you can say whatever the heck you want, no matter if it's true, cruel, rude, disgusting, inflammatory, or whatever! And no-one can object because that would VIOLATE the right to FREE SPEECH. In fact people who OBJECT are not exercising THEIR right to FREE SPEECH. OBJECTING is not ALLOWED. People who OBJECT therefore are subject to MORE FREE SPEECH. FREE SPEECH means it's A-OK to take exception to a total stranger's expressing HER free speech by flying a flag upside down. SURE THING - knock on a total stranger's door and challenger her (too bad she wasn't exercising her Second Amendment rights to shoot the 'nads off strange men who knock at the door and stick their nose in where it doesn't belong). FREE SPEECH means you can say vicious, untrue things about people. And if anyone objects, you attack them for trying to stifle your FREE SPEECH. I LIKE being a REPUBLICAN. And it also turns out that the investigation has been ongoing, for years, over a number of things. How about that. Reading the documentation, this guy has been under investigation for years for a number of things. Could the fact that this broke NOW be politically motivated? Maybe.
