  1. Why be surprised? The re-elected one of the worst presidents in American history.
  2. If all women who whose first reaction to pregnancy was a sinking feeling had an abortion, we'd really be in trouble. It's not uncommon but generally one becomes reconciled. THIS lady is a first class idiot and doesn't deserve to have kids. She's probably be a terrible mother and they'd suffer their entire childhood, then have kids of their own to put through hell and perpetuate the cycle. That she writes about it so cavalierly is disturbing. It's chilling in the same way a serial killer talks about his kills. Sociopaths come in all shapes and sizes.
  3. I don't put much stock in polls this early but... this ought to at least start some neocon heads exploding and bring the usual gang of pinheads full bluster. And the worst part for all of you is not knowing whether she will....or won't. And you won't know for a couple of years. I think I'll go buy stock in a pharma that makes ulcer medications.
  4. I just look at it from the girl's point of view. It's her yearbook and she must be mortified. At some point in time there may have been other monikers, eg "fat kid", "zitface" etc applied to photos where the staff didn't know the studen'ts name, who knows? But those didn't get published. At a minimum the yearbook staff and supervisor are sloppy. Given it's Waxahachie I'm not surprised, the "DUH" factor is large there. Worst case it's outright racism. I hope not but in the end this poor girl has a yearbook that she probably won't be able to even think of without some pain for many years.
  5. No way? That the BEST you can do? Shoot that's nothing. I am not a blue person. 90% of my wardrobe is black, followed by deep purple and turquoise. That would be it. It's my shoes that are wild. Real wild.
  6. Enough of this entitlement, right? (note to the pinhead majority: I'm being sarcastic. the point is that we hear so much about supporting our troops and thanking our veterans. most of us do, although not all in ways that some of you acknowledge. so it will be interesting to hear how you can rationalize around the beef these people have against your beloved administration.)
  7. Got home last night and had an email from my mom, sent in the morning, yammering on about the usual stuff then saying "I have to run now, we're meeting to go protest against Bush".... Good old mom.
  8. I'm at work silly - all bidness. Back into heels tho.
  9. Report Hmmm. Now if there is a riot you all will probably demand that the media outlets (I am sure CNN isn't the only one that is carying this report) will all retract, shut down, or only cover human interest stories about how George Bush rides bikes and goes to church.
  10. Yeah, you can't get good BBQ or Mexican up here. Eating out isn't as big in Seattle as it is in Dallas. Which is probably why Seattle ranked #1 fittest city whle Dallas was ranked one of the fattest...still, when we do go out it would be nice to have options. Good thing I love seafood, you can get that almost everywhere!
  11. And my point is that it's inaccurate to paint the entire populations of multiple continents based on a proportionately small populace. The average joe in those areas is about as answerable for the actions of idiots as we are for the actions of American extremists. Like the rest of us, they're just trying to survive. It's just as wrong to come down on them as it was to come down on us.
  12. Our biggest mistake is being so un-Christian in our giving. If one's truly Christian about it, one gives in the spirit of giving, not expecting anything back. Getting PO'd because people accept gifts and then don't lick out boots is our problem, not theirs. I thought America was supposed to be a big Christian country but I guess I was wrong. The act of giving made it appear so but the backlash here because a not everyone falls down at our feet in grateful response at our sharing of our largesse belies that.
  13. That's nowhere near TX BBQ.
  14. What rock did this guy crawl from under? It has to be a bad joke.
  15. That's not what's under discussion here. I wouldn't expect this narrow-minded group to be rational. Anything but a bigoted, knee-jerk reaction would be a big surprise. I happened to see and hear lots of people express tearful gratitude for the help we sent - however you folks like the glass half empty, go for it.
  16. Save it for her Here you go. Take your venom here to someone who really insulted the military. Let me know what she says.
  17. The narrow-minded mentality that condemns entire populations, millions of people, based on the stupidity of a relative few, who don't necessarily speak for the millions, is the same mentality that caused 3,000 innocent people to die on 9/11.
  18. So read Time or the Christian Science Monitor instead.
  19. That's rich coming from someone who would argue with me if I said the sky was blue - you'd fight over which Pantone color blue it was. Drink your koolaid and be a good boy.
  20. More family values! I wonder if the religious right ever reads the newspapers...look at the kind of crap that goes on in the "Bible Belt"! Not that this stuff doesn't happen other places, but considering all the crowing about Godliness that comes out of these people one would think they'd find this somewhat galling...yuck. I guess I am naive thinking they'd actually walk the talk. ha.
  21. Your faith in the veracity and trustworthiness of all humankind is heartwarming and, coming from you, quite an expected surprise. People lie. People confess to crimes they didn't commit. People exaggerate. People say things they don't mean. Not infrequently as a matter of fact. The 9/11 murderers somehow managed to live quietly and undetected, enough to successfully complete their mission, in part by keeping their mouths shut. Were they any less dangerous because they did so?
  22. No kidding. Focusing on what was coming out of his / her mouth is the LEAST of our worries. What's going on in his head, and what he's doing about, is a much greater danger. But there are always those superficial people who focus on the tip of the iceberg.....
  23. Pity? I have no pity for Saddam. But getting down in the muck with him is unworthy of the American ideal. It would be one thing if he was still on the run but he's a helpless captive. It's a great disservice to our military. And I'm fully cognizant that barbarism goes with was, always has. Doesn't mean it always has to. If we want to claim the high road, we have to take it ourselves as much as possible.
  24. I'm not concerned about what this person might SAY but how he or she would fulfill their jobs as providers of security...given that they support an organization whose sole purpose is to kill westerners.
  25. I have no problem with the military. My husband's a Marine. The bozos who did this knew full well what they were doing and they bring disgrace on the armed services and their country. Morons who blindly side with ANY and EVERYTHING the government and the military does without question are traitors to their country. That's hgw millions of people ended up DEAD after WWII.
