  1. In Seattle he is very respected as well. My dog groomer just could NOT understand how the Bills would even consider dumping him. He thinks the Bills and a team to watch on the way up.

When walking dog yesterday my neighbor asked me about the draft. Then he told me really likes Hotrod and thinks the Bills are on the way up.

I also think it's crazy the way TBDers trash him on a regular basis.

I just think we've been losing for so long that some fans don't even know what trying to win means or why a team would want to do it.

    Go BILLS !!

    GO Hotrod !!

Ya I work at a bar on weekends so I've had some really in depth conversations with mostly Jet Giant and Cowboys fans are big up here.

I'd say at least 80% view him as a top 15 starter and not only would Jet fans love him as their QB but most Giant fans would swap him for Eli all day. Usually referencing the Wr talent difference and the difference in turning the ball over.

The best part is , he's only going into year 3 as a starter, he has so much room for growth !

  2. Chiefs have a very difficult schedule this year

And like I said, they lose Charles,Knives Davis,Poe,Jarvis Jenkins and added no FA, besides CJ Spiller . Besides making Eric Berry the highest paid S in the league, they did very little to upgrade the team.

Also they only had 1 pick in the first 3 rds that could come in and start. Obviously Mahomes isn't starting.

So they could very easily have a down year. And we play them so there will be a little extra incentive to get the W.

  3. He needs to have a solid year, the new regime has zero ties to most of this roster.

If they don't earn their paycheck they will be shown the door..

Is there any doubt he won't be phenomenal? 4 Oline starters going on year three together and a potential instant upgrade at RT. Throw in the best blocking FB in the NFL and what should be a much better pass game,if Watkins can stay on the field. Shady has no signs of slowing down and is a gym rat, I see at least two elite years ahead. He was amazing last year. Worth every penny

So says the Chris Kelsay of TSW - lots of volume but little impact.

Dime a dozen? As taught to me in debate class "Exaggeration is the tool of the unarmed".

I don't want to take anything away from TD Mike but let's be real, the Oline was the main ingredient behind his success. Monster holes
  4.

Y'all act like there is no salary cap. As if a team chooses not to pay players because they don't want to spend the money, rather than they don't have the cap room to dedicate all the money to one player. I guess you're all thrilled we're paying Dareus and Clay as much as we are. Should have paid Byrd too.

I'm not saying there is no way the Bills could have made room for Gilmore. And we have no idea if White (or Lattimore) can come in and play as well as Gilmore. However, I'm willing to state that drafting a CB that plays as well as Darby LAST year (not even rookie year) on a rookie contract, plus another first next year with better QB options, plus the ability to gain potential starters at WR and OL from the extra picks received, plus the money left to get other free agents at other positions of need is worth more wins than paying and keeping Gilmore.

To answer the original question, I prefer White over Lattimore even without the extra picks gained. In our division we don't need a tall/lanky CB. We needed one around 5'11-6' who can cover a taller receiver if needed, but can also cover the shorter slot guys because he has agility and not just straight line speed. We need a safety who can help with the tall receivers over the top more than a tall CB who can be a liability against quicker WRs, and one who may have an injury concern.

Very well said. White is probably the better cb for this team, I love his versatility too. Can play inside or out, I keep saying, I'm going to love seeing him and Hyde on the same side of the field. Can get very creative

Remember McKelvin was the best CB coming out of college in 2008, how did that work out for the Bills? I would take White and the picks.

Even better is Gilmore and Claiborne in 2012. Claiborne was being touted as the best cb prospect since Devon Sanders. Gilmore''s stock rose much like White's, trusting the process. Senior Bowl,combine,etc..

I think he can be an upgrade over Gilmore. He was very up and down. White seems to be steady and consistent. Love the story Mayock brought up about him shutting Amari Cooper down ,while every other LSU dB got dominated.

Another factor that should be considered is that White's cap number is much lower than Lattimore's would have been at 10, and his 5th year option will be MUCH cheaper as well.

Great point. By far my favorite 1st Rd selection since Dareus. And to land a CB of his caliber so late , with the picks, it's very Un- Billsy.
  5. White and the picks. I worry enough about tender hamstrings already. Very pleased with the outcome. I just wish KC sucked a little so I could be more encouraged about the first next year. Some freak epic collapse would not bother me at all. Tough division..... So?

Very tough division, SD,Oak,and DEN for 6 games is brutal.

Plus KC lost Charles, Poe, Knives Davis, Jarvis Jenkins and didn't add much in FA. Didn't add much in the draft as far as immediate starters. A down year wouldn't be shocking, especially if they start slow, which has been a trait the last 2 years, and the fan base screams for Mahomes.

  6. Depends what you wish for. You want a few more yards/game with another 8, 10, 12 INT per year? TT protects the ball as good as any QB in the league.

Any other defense beside the Ryan's that is a recipe for 10+ wins.

Be careful what you wish for.

Well said. And he protected throwing to WR he had no chemistry with. Crazy how under appreciated he is on here, yet in North jersey, giants/Jets fans talk about him like he's a strength at the qb position, not a liability
  7. Lorax had a killer 2016 glad to see him get some recognition. Not sure who else from the team will make it to the top 100 outside of Shady I don't think there are any locks. Maybe Incog or Glenn from the O-line or Dareus. Dareus certainly has the talent and reputation but he is coming off a year where he was suspended and hurt for parts of the year and he wasn't dominant when he was in there. Not sure if an O-line representative will make it in there either. Shady will but it will be interesting to see if someone else gets in there.

Richie should get in like last year. Shady is a lock, maybe Zach Brown
  8. I love the 17 Bills. This was a top 10 scoring O with Taylor throwing to backup WR and guys off the street. We lose TD Mike and Woods , but potentially upgrade RT, aND WR with Zay and a healthy Sammy. The O has potential to grow even more. Elite run game.

And we had tons of injuries on D. A chaotic , unorganized scheme and with the talent feel they improve vastly on D.

I'm just confused why ppl are so down on this team. Very talented, and most likely a big upgrade in coaching and accountability, why not us

  9. At # 91

If you watch the Thomas Davis vid too, who came in at 89 I believe, they really are similar. Just hard working, never quit on a play type players. I can see why Mcd wants him at that role. And can envision him being very successful

Congrats to Lorax. Well deserved and thought he should be lower on the list. Glad he's a Bill for 2 more years

  10. I am not really a pessimistic person... but I didn't really care for our draft, but I see a lot of people talking highly of it. When I look at it, I see a meh CB, but that helped us get a 1st round pick next year so I take that as a win. I see a 3rd given up to secure a 2nd round WR who looks to have some talent, or at the very least, great production against poor competition. I see 3 picks given up to secure a guy who might be a backup OL, and at best part of a RT rotation where he might or might not be playing out of position. Then later on, it's two 220lb linebackers, and one late round QB, who by many accounts could be a solid backup, so that isn't a bad pickup in the 5th round. Am I missing something on these guys? I just feel really "meh" about this draft.

Can you guys tell me why you loved the draft so much?

    I'll play.

White was Imo the 2nd best CB period, in a highly talented n deep CB class. Almost like the 2014 WR class. He's an immediate starter and is no "meh" cb. He can flat out play, and proved that for 4 years versus the best competition in the country. For u's to land him, a 3rd and 1st next year is an A++. Great instincts, ball skills, extremely versatile , great coverage skills, always turns his head while ball is in air and a natural leader. We got an absolute steal at 27. Instant starter.

Zay was arguably the 3rd best WR, and not far off from Williams /Davis imo. He's 6'2 and is super quick on his feet and with his hands , has great instincts and like White, has great leadership qualities. Not to mention a perfect compliment to Sammy Watkins. Will make defenses pay for doubling #14. I see some AJ Green in his game but that's obviously best case scenario, another instant starter.

Dawkins is a bulldog. People claim he's too short at tackle but it's all about leverage and his arm length is the ideal length for a tackle. He's quick, versatile, intelligent and I think his smaller height mixed with his arm length will be an advantage against certain pass rushers. He can be quicker to the point of attack. While I'm not yet labeling him an instant starter, I feel he will easily beat out Mills, thus giving us an absolute beast of an already dominant oline, And if he doesn't work out at RT, which again, would suprise me, we have Richies replacement at G.

Milano ,man I suggest watching some of his tape. I think he could end up being the steal of the draft . A bit undersized but still a thumper with great instincts ( see a trend here?). Above average speed and agility. I don't see him beating out Zo, Reggie or Brown but I do see him having a definitive role on this team and is much needed depth at LB.

Peterman , I'm not a huge fan of the pick because I feel Taylor is the long term answer but I don't hate it. there's no denying he was the most pro ready QB in the draft and at worse I feel we got us a young back up QB to develop and groom.

Don't know enough about our last pick to even write anything but even so , this was a home run of a draft and I agree with Kiper and McShay that it was the best draft in a LONG time...

  11.

The only thing that makes it rational is if they plan to do a long term contract that will lower the average salary vs franchise tag/option.

If they don't do a long term contract and franchise tag him in 2018, and then let him go, it would be a bewildering move.

Yup. That's my thoughts as well. Long term contract, immediately after the season, as long as that foot holds up.

I think the Zay pick is further evidence they want to keep Sammy long term. He looks to be a great compliment opposite Watkins, and a chain moving first down machine. While Sammy is your elite, do it all WR. Go ahead and double Sammy, we got the best hands in the draft Imo , and at 6'2 , with great instincts and superb quickness, will make teams pay for doubling Sammy.

He's a bigger , higher ceiling Robert Woods.

Hopefully Listenbee can be that speedster in the slot and we suddenly have a really good, young WR corps . Don't forget about Clay and O Leary who was really coming on and looking good as a #2 TE

  12. Mayock also really liked our draft....I trust him more

    Yup.

I've looked at several draft grading stories.

Have yet to see a negative one on Buffalo. We nailed it. I think the most pessimistic of fans can agree on this.

And we also get Ragland, and Lawson who I think is unfair to judie him off of last year, being that he missed the whole off season and was misused in a chaotic defensive scheme.

  13. This is just sad

    1. He is coming off a Jones Fracture injury why do you think you would get anything CLOSE to what we paid for him.

    2. The investment we made to pick him it makes NO SENSE to trade him......he is a huge part of our offense

    3. Why do people not understand that they just want to make sure the foot heals based on the time he missed last year before making a major committeement......and that we will have more then enough cap room to tag him and then work out a deal

Sammy Watkins is not going anywhere....and the selection of Zay Jones does not change that

    Well said.

Zay seems to be the perfect compliment to Sammy actually.

  14. First year HC and new staff. No clue who the GM will be. Marginal QB. You are a year too early.

    Why not us? 2018 Playoffs

I'll buy. This draft sets up nicely for that.

I disagree. Look at the AFC. It's weak , for starters. We're getting an influx of young talent - Shaq,Ragland, Listenbee, and this promising draft class and even with a joke of a defensive scheme, a joke of a HC and an abnormal amount of injuries to key guys,we were in contention the last 2 years. Look at how many close games we barely lost, to good teams as well- KC twice, Sea,Oak, Mia just for example.

I believe with the changes to the coaching , we can turn those close losses into Wins and definitely contend for playoffs

  15. They apparently signed two UDFA safeties, but both seem about the same quality as the guys already on the roster behind the top two. Unless somebody seriously surprises in camp, they need another qualified guy at the position IMO.

That's just it. They DID add more draft picks, but then lost them again by trading back up. The trade DOWN was fine, but I sort of would have preferred they didn't trade up in the second and lose that extra 3rd. That would have been a prime spot to take a legit safety prospect.

I would have felt much more comfortable drafting a safety rather than a RT, to be honest. Mills can be improved upon, Henderson and Kuoandjio have, in the past, shown they can be decent spot starters. Behind Hyde and Poyer, though? Nada. And even Poyer himself isn't anything to get excited about.

Well they must have been very high on the RT and Zay. I see your point, respect your opinion but the only reason I am on board with drafting RT and giving up picks to move up is because we can now make an already dominant group even more dominant and that's always a good thing imo.

If this kid is a stud that makes our elite # 1 rushing attack even better and gives Taylor better protection. With Miller having a superb year, we'd have zero holes at OL IF this kid pans out. And we have depth- Groy,Duccasse, Kujo, Henderson.

  16. I would agree with all of that. I think we could use a LB that has coverage abilities and has started in the league before. Here's who I'd be targeting as added depth:

    RB: Ronnie Hillman

    LB: Sio Moore

    CB: Alterraun Verner

    S: Jairus Byrd

Ragland, despite the talk that he's slow, can cover , trust me, his instincts and quickness will make him a good coverage LB. Preston was great find coverage in his 1 year in the 43..

The 2 rookies both sound like they can cover as well, though they may need some time.

RB I definitely don't see as an issue. We added a bunch. Got J Williams as well.

Safety scares me a BIT but you can't have every positional group filled with quality talent. Overall, I like what I see,

  17. I want to beat me up with Brady and Bill on the team. I got a gut feeling McD can be the guy to right the ship.

For example, Micah Hyde and our # 1 pick are both versatile, heady players, built to stop the quick passing attack of NE. No more 5-10 free yards.

I feel those 2 specifically were hand picked with beating NE in mind. And can't wait to see Zay and Sammy light up Gilmore as he's looking around with his hands in the air as they enter the end zone. F the Cheats and their weak fan base

  18. If we are truly not picking up his option, we might as well salvage something from him while we can. We likely aren't contending for anything this year anyways so I feel this might be the right move. What could we get? Would you do it?

Edit: yes, I know, a snap reaction to the firing but might as well see what the board thinks!

I disagree about us not contending.

Look at the past 2 years, an absolute mess of a defensive scheme, serious injuries to impact players and a dysfunctional locker room, yet we were still in contention, so many close losses that could easily turn into wins.

With what should be a vastly improved defense ,still the best running game in the league, and hopefully not a ridiculous amount of injuries to key players, I see us as serious contenders in an overall weak AFC conference, so I would be extremely disappointed if # 14 was traded.

His talent is elite, he just has to stay on the field. After what we invested, it'd be a shame to give up on him in his 4th year...
