Yea, I don’t know factually but feel like sometime late on day 2 there tends to be a cliff for backs. That’s why I keep nudging the discussion from the fourth to the third
I’m not rushing to take a guy in the first but I think there’s a sweet spot in round 2-3 where you can get a really impactful RB instead of a mediocre tackle.
Yes I totally agree. I said top 100 , we are rich with draft picks, get it done. It could have a big impact on the whole offense. Helps the run game, preserves Shady a bit, but also opens up the pass game. It's important

This is actually good news...maybe a healthy Zay will do better next year.
I totally agree. I actually smiled as I read this, cause I can see the potential in Zay. Now he gets a full off-season, no preparing for draft. He can heal up nicely and I'm sure, even if he won't admit it, a shoulder injury had an impact on a rookie WR season.

i've been thru this myself. ZERO chance he goes back to sports. Your body doesnt function the same way again.
I think its more a matter of him not having the ability to play more than it is a matter of danger. A fused vertebra
is actually very strong and the joint is safe. The problem is the body doesnt function as a whole the way it used to because of this.
Zero chance he plays again at his position. Manning got away with it for a few yrs because he is a QB that didnt take a big beating..
and his arm strength loss was overcome by his savvy and ability to get rid of the ball quickly.
PS--he sounds like a great kid with a great attitude
That hurts alot too..His life was football, Shazier was born to be out there, a young, elite MLB, leader of that defense, that all disappears.
The Mental scars will damage more than the physical ones.

RB’s can be found easily these days ..... picking one high is insane
Insane??
Insane huh?
I said first 100 picks.
Let's check out 2017 ,shall we?
7 RB taken in top 100
1 Fournette
8 McCaffrey
41 Cook
48 Mixon
67 Kamara
86 Hunt
89 Foreman
The NFL leading rusher in Hunt, likely rookie of year in Kamara, Fournette established himself as a beast, McCaffrey was a huge part of the Car Offense. Almost all 7 had significant contributions to their teams. Mixon injured alot, even he looks like he'll be a very good RB.
23 RB taken out of the top 100
Only two come to mind that had a significant contribution, Cohen and Jamal Williams.
So the numbers CLEARLY show your statement is false ,sir.

I'll stick to building around a QB and passing game, thanks.
You're building both. We have a stud in Shady. Invest one draft pick in that position, that's all! Plenty of room to make other needed upgrades

It's like some people have completely forgotten the '00s.
Happy to draft a RB on day 3 but not before then. Also, RBs seem to transition to the pro game much more quickly than many other positions so no rush on overspending for one while Shady is still in his prime.
You guys put WAY to much correlation in decisions made by completely different people with completely different rosters. Our failures in the 00's have zero correlation to this upcoming draft and potentially grabbing a RB early.
Give the Amazing Lesean McCoy a great running mate for final 2-3 years of his prime. If we have one highly rated that's available I'd be totally on board. We are not that bad at OL, can upgrade through FA

We definitely need better RB depth, but we don't need to spend a high pick on one by any means.
I agree but I'd be on board.
Imagine a Shady/Fournette ,Shady/Henry , Shady/Gordon combo. That'd be pretty lethal and could have one of the best run games period. Give defenses headaches.
Helps preserve Shady and adds a great back. This also helps our QB and pass game significantly.

not happy with Mike Tolbert ?
The human Bowling ball himself? The enigma , the Full Half back aka Mike Tolbert is a TBD legend. I do think if Beane and Co leave no stone unturned, and lead a vigorous process to finding his successor, somewhere out there will be an upgrade over Mikey "Trust the Process" Tolbert
-
People are flaming me but missing the point. It's about making a positional group elite and dynamic. If there's a guy in the top 100 the staff think can be a gamechanger, pair him with Shady, add an explosive, dynamic element to this offense, regardless of QB.
Every team has Holes. You can't have all pros at every position, it's about building a team and again, the impact it could have is far greater than the impact a good lb will have.

It blows my mind that Bills fans exist that want to draft a RB.
Was our 17 year drought not enough evidence of how little a star running back helps your team?
Get a guy off the street that weighs half as much as Tolbert and we’re fine.
A star RB is probably the top reason we made the playoffs, he was basically our only offense and did it at an extremely high level.
So yea, your point isn't that effective, sir

QB, DT, LB, WR, and OL all outweigh RB in order of priority needs coming into 2018.
I understand what you mean and I agree we need to upgrade some positions but the impact of a great running game can be tremendous
2 minutes ago, 26CornerBlitz said:Not IMO. Talk to me about RB when McCoy is gone.
Get his replacement when he's still in his prime, let them ball out together, watch it tremendously help the offense

This is not a high priority with many other needs outweighing RB.
I disagree. You can have something special at the position with Shady and a great complement. Why not attempt to make part of your O that much more dangerous.
A great running game wins Super Bowls
-
I guess preferably in the draft but get Shady as good of RB that you can find.
Hehas 2 elite years left, he doesn't take hits like the average RB. He's too shifty to get a good shot on, or he'll smartly go out of bounds versus attempting to get another yard , always after getting the 1st down of course.
Whatever route we go with QB on offense, we must draft or take a RB in FA , but drafting is way to go , salary cap wise, spend one of our first 3 picks on RB, will make us much more dynamic and Shady will be able to share some of the load, why also most likely helping his production on the field.

Wanted to paste this here.

Good, it's the right move. Injury prone with very little pass rush abilities. Him and Ragland both failed picks by foot fetish. Hopefully we can find a team that needs a run stopping DE.
Jumping the gun a bit?
They are both 2 year pros , who have lost a large amount of those 2 years rehabbing on injuries.
To say the book has been written is unfair.
We never saw Ragland in Rex's scheme and he's just got promoted starter for KC.
Shaq is very good at stopping run , the hope is he can develop enough to turn into an all around DE like Hughes.
He can be situational and work his way up, we definitely need a guy to pair with Hughes! So underrated this year, numbers weren't very good but he got the hurries consistently. He needs a legit threat opposite him so qb can't always roll to his right where the rush is contained.

Im sure the players love that.
This crap can stop any day now
2 are AFC teams, potential WC teams in way, though I want that division and feel it's doable with an upgrade on offense

Hate - Pata/Jets pretty evenly
Like- Giants
I live in Northern Jersey, right outside NYC, have a bunch of Giant friends I respect. The Jet fanbase is a bit different, can't stand majority of Jet fans

I highly doubt that Glenn will be cut and Alexander is cheap as a player not to mention the leadership role he provides both on and off the field.
I agree. He said he'll be playing alot more DE, where he belongs, rushing the passer. He had a MONSTER game vs Jax, was flying out there, definitely keeping him for 2.5 mil, even if it is a situational role, his leadership and ability are still well worth it

Exclusive rights...O'Leary and Yarbrough.
Point is, I expect another big year of roster turnover.
I'd like to keep Leonard Johnson too

Good. He actually did good at DE. What an overall game he had vs Jax , I was impressed

Rumor is Kam may be forced to retire and wouldnt be surprised if Sherman is traded. They have alot personalites paid well and are getting older and less impactful.
Oh yea , the L.O.B is officially over , I think our young secondary can take that torch actually, depending what we do at #2 CB,but even White,Hyde,Poyer is as good as it gets.
Alot of players butting heads this year. Earl Thomas telling Dallas to get him. Wagner and Earl arguing via Twitter
-
I did too. Happy we got the McDerminator though.
Crazy they are firing him too. Sherman, Kam missed significant time, and Earl missed a cpl games.

I felt like he ran threw the WR too. There was definitely shoulder to shoulder contact before the ball arrived.
Ya there was a couple pass interferences they missed, he was early, ball bounced on ground but bottom line is the O controlled the ball but couldn't get points, and still , if not for a couple drops, we win the game.
Dennison has to go. Tyrod, who I've strongly supported, has to go. The D is too good, Shady is too good and doesn't have much time left. This team gets better QB play and they can be a stronghold in the AFC
-
Defense was a Thompson drop away from pitching a first half shutout. Allowed 10 points on the road , hats off to them, we can build on this defense

Shady's locker room interview he took a jab at Taylor or Dennison.
He outplayed Fournette all day . You can hear the frustration in his voice

Yes!
He's only had 1 off-season, he definitely has been disappointing but he's not a bum and there is definitely a role for him on the team. Whatever we got wouldn't be worth it, he's a football guy, trains hard, he can get coached up , he's shown flashes , let's give him more than 20 games before writing him off!
