I think they got hosed.
That 3rd Rd pick , in this draft?? It's worth way more than your typical year. Such a deep class, you can easily strike gold in the 3rd.
We add an instant starter.
We receive their 1st Rd next year!
Again, that 3rd rounder could be gold.
Then they pick Mahomes!?!? And talk about us getting hosed? Lol. They essentially wasted 2 2st Rd picks and a 3rd . This trade will set them back imo,and plunge us forward

Exactly lolChiefs GM already stated the deal originated when he talked to Whaley and that he talked to Whaley each day this week. If McDermott has all the power and "everyone" knows it, then why wouldn't Dorsey be talking to McDermott?
How can anyone even think McDermott is working on the draft like that lol..
Whaley and the Bills have million dollars invested in scouts..
I'm sure McD had an impact on the pick but he had zero impact on the wheeling and dealing. ..
Gets ,imo, an instant starter/leader/contributor to a suddenly very interesting secondary,a young, talented core, filled with potential.
Give the man credit when it's due!! We get an extra 3rd , in a remarkably deep draft, that pick could turn out to be gold..
Also gets a 2018 1st round pick! I mean that's an A grade to me...
Would like to see the Whaley haters give him his due! !!!
You hear the story where it was some sort of event, I believe Lattimore or another big time cb was getting absolutely smoked by Amari Cooper. White comes in and shuts him down! I think it's a CBS sports clip..I agree, we get an additional first and third out of the deal. I would have been far less happy with another CB pick at #10 and no extra picks as an alternative.
Point is I feel we got a top 10 talent, people are so hung up on the fact the slot might be his best bet , but teams are in nickel 60% of the time, so it has become extremely important, NE has been exploiting it for years.
Good to see them building up the secondary as a WHOLE... As well as piling up assets for the future. ..

I don't know, but Whaleys team obviously had this kid on their radar and Whaleys team orchestrated a 1st and 3rd Rd pick additionally. I'd say they did a helluva job. McD''s fingertips are b on it ,but b that's how it should be. Give Whaley props when their Due!I think you are dreaming if you think Whaley orchastrated this=P
Also, does this need to be its own thread?

You add another instant starter, young, talented CB to a stable of young talented CBs and hope they can grow together. This pick adds ammo and adds a solid piece to an interesting secondary group.Agreed. I get the pick but was hoping we'd wait til rd 2-3 for a cb. Would've preferred Foster

Darby - WHite - Seymour could be $$$$
Instant starter at important position plus the picks? Sign me up for that every year...
-
Your read up on White and he's a 4 year starter that is basically ready to jump in on day 1 and perform at a high level.. Seymour-Darby-White is looking like a trio that could realistically emerge as a very good trio of CBS and upgrade the group even with the loss of Gilmore. He's versatile too, Micha Hyde, two guys that can turn into stars in this system. And they'd be together for at least 3 years.
Oh and you get a 3rd and a 1st next year!
Straight business, building for now and the future. Whaley and Co get an A for this pick. ..Thoughts?

Excellent
Love it. Building a dynasty baby!!!!
Cb I'm thinking

He already knows this after watching the kid play in 11 NFL games?!
I wonder what he would have said about Jerry Hughes after watching him play in HIS first 11 NFL games?
Exactly and this scheme is a great fit for Shaq. I think he can have a big time impact on a consistent basis, especially if 99 and 95 are playing up to their talent level. He missed everything as a rookie and then near midseason was thrown into a dysfunctional defense and a scheme that lacked identity and communication.
It's simply not fair to judge him from last year. He needs the right coaching but he has the talent to strive as a 43 end. Not only as a pass rusher but also against the run. This DLine just needs to play off each other and I think they get back in the conversation of best DL in the NFL
-
I felt this way since before the draft last year. I wanted him in rd 1. I just feel his game will translate perfectly to the NFL level and he will be a huge asset to this D.I feel the seem way about Reggie Ragland
To me this draft pick, yet to play a single NFL game, is gonna make or break our D in 2017
After-all we traded up for him, he's a 2nd rounder, with a first round pedigree
If the guy can really stop the run, its a game changer for us
jc
His instincts make up for his lack of speed that many claim he has. He is willing to sell out to make a play on every down and he's a natural leader.
I also love Shaq and Washington in a 43.
-
He was pretty darn good , but that's a bad year for his talent level. He has the ability to be dominant on a weekly basis, af and this D needs that to return to form and this scheme is a great fit and McD seems like a great fit to hold Dareus accountableMarcell was pretty darn good when on the field last year too. Everyone seems to be clouded by anger.
-
ExactlyCouldn't agree more. Fingers crossed. Not at all worried about his play. Only his "availability"
His mental availability scares me..
-
If # 99 can stay healthy and motivated he can be one of the best defenders in this league, period. His strength , size and ability to be so nimble on his feet are truly special for a DT. The last time we were in a 4 man front, Dareus and the D line were DOMINANT.
Yes we had Mario in his prime but we still have Kyle who seems to be ageless, Jerry who has to be licking his lips to get back in a 4-3 and play next to # 99 and 95.
Throw in Lawson who is a question mark but has serious potential and whose game I feel is MUCH better suited for a 43 End. Shaq is a strong, big dude guys, and that spin move is going to be some trademark.
These guys are all very good players in their own right but if Dareus plays dominating football on a consistent basis he makes the whole line and defense much better and get this DLine back into the conversation of 'Best DL in the NFL'.
As well as getting our defense back into the Top 10 , if not Top 5. And remember when we had that great defense, they were consistently bailing out a terrible , joke of an offense.
An improved D will make our already top 10 Offense look much better and allow Dareus and Co. to be more aggressive as a DL, which imo, adds up to more W's!!!

I like it.that would have us...
Jets @ Bills
Bills @ Panthers
Broncos @ Bills
i've got nothing from anyone i know.
And reportedly we get Den coming off a MNF game @ LA..Nice little advantage
-
Facts very excited to see McD utilize this talent after Rex clearly did a horrendous job. Like a poster said , we still went into Sea on primetime and we're apart of one of the best MNF games. I see those close L's turning to W's if 25, 14 and 5 stay healthy and the D should upgrade strictly off of not having one of the worse schemes I've seen in recent memoryThey only realize if you win a bunch of games. 10+
-
If we stay healthy we are more talented than most teams. I think NFL realizes and will give us a couple prime timers

Im reading that besides his wife and daughter and paid legal team , literally everyone else abandoned him and wasn't in court to show love and support.Or better yet its ok to express your opinions we don't live in Russia . If you guys really think that he killed himself in prison with a sheet after winning his court case for double murder and was planning to retry the first . I got some beach front property to sell you near childrens hospital. That was an execution plain and simple
His mom. His brother, aunts , uncles, etc...
No love in this latest trial, just the hate and hurt of the victims families.
I think Hernandez seeing that was the final straw . Reports are he joked about it, saying "it's sad".
Imagine viewing that ,your own mom and brother aren't even in attendance. That's heartbreaking. I think it brought out those deep emotions he stuffed and he figured F it.
Saying that, I wouldn't rule out foul play but it'd be a shocker.
R.I.P Aaron Hernandez

Like the sound of that.He is good. New DB captain. Hyde's agent was on WGR and said McDermott wants Hyde to be like what Brian Dawkins was in Philly
I feel he still hasn't reached his full potential, only entering year 5 , we can mold him into a Stud
-
Does Byrds style of play fit this scheme?? He really came on last year and re established himself as a ball hawk. Him and Hyde would be pretty awesome, 2 natural ball hawks.I wonder if we don't take a safety early if we bring Byrd back
And also, he has only missed 1 game in his 4 year career. He can really be special
-
Your welcome guys!!
Yea but some guys play faster/slower. Hyde seems to have natural instincts and awareness, he plays much faster than his time suggests imo. I personally feel Ragland fits this mold too..how's his speed? 4.56 isnt' fast. at all.
corey graham ran roughly a 4.32-4.4
Hey Jc.GB let him walk because he was neither a starting safety or cornerback and at S they had way better players
Hyde was only GB's sometimes starting nickel back
And Hyde is not necessarily an upgrade on either of the Bills starting safeties from last year
Unless Hyde based on his age makes a leap in his 5th year in the NFL or is coached up
His Walter football rating as the the 7th best FA safety
Micah Hyde, a solid return specialist, is very good in run support
but could stand to improve as a coverage safety/nickel corner.
He won't be 27 until New Year's Eve
So he'll have plenty of time to improve that facet of his game.
Hyde's PFF rating was only as a CB cos that's where he took the majority of snaps last year
Not safety
He was rated a little outside the best starting 48 CB's in the NFL
So a superb depth player, but unknown potential and or status as a starter
Hyde's Dave Koch sports rating was a full point less than our S starters last year
IMO Koch ratings are better than Madden but all metrics have their pros and cons
But the point is he'll have to improve his game quite a bit to be equal to Graham
Let alone automatically be an upgrade
jc
I remember you from bbmb. It's UnBillieviable.
I disagree here, Hyde is a defensive playmaker, and in alot of big time games.
I can't remember the last time Grahm made a clutch play for us when we really needed it...Stats and ratings only tell you so much...
-
Looks solid to me. Why would GB let him walk?
Apparently too much money tied into the S position but GB fans are very upset it seems.
-
Wow! That was awesome! This guy looks to be a serious player. Sucks that A. Williams got hurt because the two of them together at S would have made for quite a duo.
Ya it's a shame. A Will was a player . They'd be an awesome combo. Don't sleep on Poyer though. All in all I feel we definitely upgraded safety position.

Randomly came across this on YouTube. I said it when we signed him, that he's going to be a steal and just look at him in this highlight reel. His awareness is off the charts. His ball skills are top notch and he was a leader on a SB contending team. I love that we signed him and other pieces rather than retain Gilmore. Also, look at the competition and games he made some of these plays, he's a plyer! Glad he's a Bill. Enjoy fellas.
-
He certainly has never ducked but for the amount of money he cost and the new scheme being mainly zone forDB's + strong tackling, I am very happy we did not keep him . I'm loving the Hyde pickup.I'm always amazed how our fans put Gilmore down.....you read this thread and for the most part, you'd think he was a complete disaster.......The best coach in the NFL just gave him a huge contract and we tell ourselves that Gilmore sucked.....
Doesn't make any sense....
-
No Watkins, Dareus, Lawson and Ragland injuries/suspensions (HOPEFULLY!) before they even take a snap. We were EXTREMELY injured last year. Dareus/ Watkins missed 16 games combined last year!! That is a massive loss.. Lawson missed 8 , as a rookie , Ragland 16.. Both have serious potential to be impact players in the NFL.
So I couldn't disagree with you more that losing Gilly, Woods and Brown equates to this team having no chance....
Instant starter + 1st and 3rd Rd picks = Success

I know some of these guys football i.q''s are high enough to know this, but unfortunately a lot of good posters just cannot give Whaley some much deserved credit. Snatched an instant starter, aND valuable assets for the future. That's a near perfect first Rd imo
