He's just misunderstood.

Good choice. Ella's version of "Mack the Knife", though not a holiday classic, is pretty good, too.

I believe Dick Jauron needs to stay

Way to parrot there, Tomas. -
I believe Dick Jauron needs to stay
R. Rich replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it's even some type of "I've heard of him" situation. I just think the Bills have not had the best of luck in selecting a head coach and that head coach, in turn, hasn't much success in selecting a good coaching staff. I don't rule out coordinators; look @ what Mike Smith has done in Atlanta, or what Mike Tomlin has done in Pittsburgh. It's more picking the right person than anything, whether it's a former coach, college coach, coordinator, or even a position coach. -

As others have hinted @ in their posts, if the Bills do decide to go w/ another head coach, it does not mean they need to wait another 3 years for results. Atlanta, Baltimore, and Miami all have new coaches in place and have improved greatly. The problem is, even if the Bills get a new head coach, will they also get cohesion from the owner to the GM (if they decide to hire one) on down to the coach? That is what this team has been missing since Polian was fired and 'til they get that back, I don't think any of the "flip flopping" of coaches will make a difference. -
True, and then they lost in the first round to an 8-8 Rams team. Had the Bills somehow found a way to beat Pittsburgh's backups and 3rd teamers that year, they probably would've fared the same.

I wonder what the win percentage of the opponents from that season were. I remember the Bills having a nice stretch run vs some pretty sorry teams that year (Seattle and Cincinnati, among others) and, much like the start of this season, it gave us an image of where the team was that may not have been totally accurate. An image, as it turned out, that would get shattered in typically heartbreaking Bills fan fashion (the home game vs the Stillers).

You like that one more than the Johnny Mercer/Margaret Whiting version? Or even the Ray Charles/Betty Carter version? My personal fave is the Louis Jordan/Ella Fitzgerald version. It's amazing. Velma Middleton did a pretty sweet version w/ Louis Armstrong that gets a decent amount of airplay on the Sirius' jazz channel 72.

Favorite 80's or early 90's Pro Wrestler?
R. Rich replied to EndZoneCrew's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I was in Atlantic City @ Wrestle Mania 5 when he called the crowd, "high rollin', Atlantic City sweathogs", en route to becoming the Intercontinental champ (thanks to Hennan holding Warrior's leg down). Too bad he had a big contract dispute w/ McMahon right before he left, as he was supposed to win the WWF title then. Then, he went to WCW and, after winning a bunch of titles and becoming one of their top draws, injured his neck, which pretty much ended his wrestling career. From what I've heard, he was quite the opposite of his on camera persona. The guy was always bragging on his kids. -
Yep, there are time when guys are flat out missed when open out there. You should've been @ the Monday Night game, hearing the crowd trying to alert Edwards that Evans (many times) and Hardy (on a few occasions) were WIDE OPEN down the field! Thing is, this is not a Buffalo phenomenon: it happens everywhere. It's like holding: happens on every play. Thanks to things such as a pass rush or a misread/blown blocking assignment, QBs don't have time to calmly scan the field and find the perfect choice on a routine basis. Well, unless they're playing the Bills, that is.
-
No prob. Again, I've seen where the DBs are helped by the QBs' indecision this year, but I've also seen routes cut short and/or rounded off instead of being sharp and precise (see Parrish, Roscoe) and where guys were running stride for stride w/ out speedy wideouts (see Miami game, where Evans, on a go route, couldn't outrun a Miami defender that the announcers had mentioned earlier in the broadcast had been picked on by the previous 2 opponents). It bears repeating, I've seen the wideouts get open, but I cannot say it happens more than it doesn't. True. Like they say, it's usually 2-3 seasons before a wideout blossoms. We'll see if/how he develops over the next couple seasons. Hopefully, the QB will do more in the way of developing also.

I guess 'cause I thought they did such a tremendous job of leading this team. I've been 'round here long enough to know the locals will supply plenty of "(name of ineffective QB here) sucked" threads after the games. I honestly didn't want to overstate the obvious. Both guys were awful, and I do believe I touched on that in my first response in this thread. As for the WRs getting open, I think I touched on that also: I have seen guys get open also (I've also been to a few of these games), but I see it as more the exception than the norm. In the 4 Bills games I've witnessed live this year, I cannot honestly say there were guys open all over the field all day being missed by QBs.

Bills are a "average NFL team", 8-8, with lucky breaks they

Think of the team that has had a longer playoff drought than Cincy and one as long as Detroit: the Bills. -
Someone needs to.
-
Rex was the D line coach @ the time. Marvin Lewis was the D coordinator.
-
I dunno. The Ravens never did develop the kind of offensive prowess that the Vikings did when he was their coordinator. The Bills, in addition to a revamped pass rush, need to straighten out their offensive woes. Plus, unless Jauron is shown the door, this is pointless anyway, not to mention the fact that all Bill really did was take the credit away from the real architecht of that Super Bowl team: his twin Brian.

Name one thing Ralph Wilson has done for Buffalo

My Mother used to work in Meadville and I've been there many times, so I get the comparison. -
You may be satisfied w/ a pass rush that allows a stud like Shaun Hill to go 4 of 4 on third downs on the team's opening drive. I am not. I like some of what these guys can do (Stroud has made a tremendous difference in the inside and we just may have some decent depth in the secondary now), but they are not getting it done enough talent-wise for my liking. Keep in mind that this was the 49ers, not the Jets, Patriots, Broncos, or even Miami. They are going to have to do MUCH better in the last 4 games to even be in position for a win. It's hard for me, based on what I've seen from the Bills lately, to believe they'll win any of the last 4 games. That doesn't mean I'll jump ship. It just means I may be watching my favorite team implode @ the end of the season yet again.

Man, and I thought I was bad w/ my teams! Then again, all of the other teams I root for have won a championship before (Houston Rockets-2, UNC hoops-3, PENN STATE football-2). Just waitin' on that last one...
-
Sounds like more of the same cloak and dagger BS the Bills tend to employ. We all needed to be reminded what a pass rush looks like.
-
Your boy had a pretty good game, for the most part. Amazing how a (lack of a consistent) pass rush can make just 'bout anyone look like an All Pro, huh? Oh, and you shouldn't hate. Oh no, William. I have been corrected on this before. Our receivers are open; our QBs just suck @ getting the ball to 'em. Working on another decade w/out a playoff visit...

Today is World Renowned Psycho Ward 86 Day. Well, R. Rich Renowned Psycho Ward 86 Day @ the least. Have a wonderful birthday, hon. I'll see you tonight!
-
I remember that. Yeah, they need to work on recognition big time. They should be aware of where they are in relation to the ball. There are times that it would be better to come up w/ the ball instead of trying to deliver a big time hit.

The problem is that even over all the changes (excutives, coaches, players), the Bills still find those ways to break your heart by collapsing like this. Maybe the problem goes beyond those entities.
