  1. I may have heard of Ward before 2 years ago, and I bet I know @ least one other person who did as well...
  2. Well, @ least I'll get to see you @ the game. Hopefully.
  3. Too bad. Hey, if you're going to be in B'more next weekend, give me a call.
  4. I see those types of fans all over. When I went to see the Bills play the Iggles @ the Vet back in '96, we (my Mother, who lived near Philly back then, and I) got our tickets through a broker and they were in the good section. Back then, we could get those seats for $80 each (I can only imagine what they'd cost now). Those fans were pretty subdued, comapred to the folks in the upper decks and in the end zone seats there. Same w/ the Stiller fans @ Heinz Field. Psycho Ward 86 and I were sitting in really good seats (around midfield, just 4 rows from the field on the visitors' side) and I was shocked @ how quiet the fans in that section were. The only ones who made noise were these 2 ladies that sat next to us and a couple drunks who kept bitching about everything in their alcohol-induced rage.
  5. A critique from the "lesser than those in the expensive seats" yahoo who holds season tickets in Section 123, Row 11, seats 4 & 5: I do agree that people have the right to support their team in any way they choose to, as long as it doesn't trample on my right to enjoy the game. Face painters, "First Down Man", and the lot don't bother me, until they stand in my way and refuse to move, or if they decide to tell me how to cheer for my team. In some respect, I do agree w/ your stance on the fans. However, as long as said fans DO NOT trample on my rights, I could care less what they do. Paint your face, wear your silly outfits, do your crazy dances-all of that is fine. Just don't tell me what to do while I'm there and stay out of the view of myself and whoever would accompany me to a game. As long as that respect is given to me, I live and let live. When it isn't, that's a different story, w/ a not-so-happy ending for others. Also, to categorize an entire section of a stadium (thousands of people, many of whom you may have never even met) as 'yahoos' doesn't seem like the act of an "educated" fan. Are there "yahoos" in the end zone? Absolutely, and they're irritating. They're just as irritating, to me, as the "cheese and wine" fans in the expensive seats who mistakenly believe that they're @ a tennis match instead of a pro football game. I consider myself somewhere in the middle: I cheer for my squad, but I try to be mindful of the people around me. I'd like to think that I succeed in being mindful to others more often than I don't. Well, that's my statement, your honor (isn't that how you address a judge?).
  6. Oh yeah, and Cat Stevens is the Islamic one. He goes by Yusef Salaam now, I believe.
  7. Follow the timeline here... Wasn't a Cat Stevens song, which prompted this post from you: Noble attempt, but also incorrect, which led to: Croce did perform "Time In A Bottle" [bTW, The Police performed "Message In A Bottle"]
  8. Love that song!
  9. I'll try to get there between 11:30am and noon.
  10. Very good parody of the Beatles. Of course, it's not as funny as the baby who plots to take over the world or a talking dog (we never see enough of those on TV, do we?).
  11. You have some dignity, and a life. What the heck are you doing on a message board? One of the major requirements here is the lack of those things.
  12. It wasn't Chitty Chitty Gangbang? I thought it was.
  13. You've always been all talk, except for those couple of times we were together (in VA @ G. Host's place and in San Antonio). What great times those were! Man, I should've brought the video camera...
  14. Don't be too envious. I'm wealthy in that I have a family (my wife and my 'furry children', meaning my dog and cat) plus we own a home and have other assets. Let's not confuse my situation w/ the Trumps, Buffets, Murdochs, and Gates of the world, okay? I 'borrowed' my brother's kids earlier this year for a long weekend. It was quite long, as it turned out.
  15. I pay more attention to the credits, looking for a certain Lady Di. I hear she's a legend in the biz.
  16. No, no; none of these will do. The all-time classic that will NEVER be trumped: Splendor in the A**
  17. Too bad. I think you've been there every time I've gone. The streak ends. How sad.
  18. Not to answer your question or anything, but... Yes, I am very wealthy. I travel a lot during the seson, becasue that's what I choose to spend my time and $$ doing. Other people take off on 1-2 week vacations during the summer. Me? I go to Bills games. How stupid, huh? No littles ones yet, but hopefully soon.
  19. Yep, I'll be there.
  20. Anyone plan on being @ Tahou's tomorrow?
  21. It depends on what JoePa wants, in terms of scoring. When he gives Galen Hall and JayPa the green light, they can put points on the board, especially since we have an outstanding group of young receivers who can make big plays (and have done so) down the field. The only things I worry about are: (1) PSU's offensive line, which isn't as dominant as their lines have been in the past. If they give good pass protection, Robinson can get the ball downfield to guys like Butler, King, and Norwood, who all have game breaking ability (I won't even mention Derrick, but he'll have more than his say next season). (2) Robinson himself. If his head is in the game (as it has been for mosst of this season), he's very tough to beat. He does still have lapses where he'll miss wide open WRs though, and that's an issue that would really hurt PSU against a squad like USC (especially if the defense keeps them in the game, as I suspect they would). They would have to make good on their opportunities to score, and that would put the pressure on Robinson to do well. If Robinson handles the pressure well, and the OL gives him the time he needs, then Penn State can beat ANY team in the nation. Yes, even USC.
  22. If by "catastrophic collapse" you're referring to the dismissal of Tom Donahoe, I'd have to agree.
  23. Very debatable. Leinart has played w/ good poise, but Reggie Bush is the guy who can score for USC @ just about any time from just about anywhere on the field. It's tough for me to say that Leinart is even the best player on his team, let alone the best in college football.
  24. As well as the PSU defense is playing this year, I'm sure they'd love to have a shot @ USC. I don't think USC is unbeatable this year. Were it not for the loss of so many defensive players, which has made their defense very ordinary, that might be true. Now, last year's USC team vs last year's Penn State team? That would be very ugly for Penn State.
