So....he's NOT a lard a** like the guy we just kicked to Jacksonville's curb, has good lateral movement, is a dominant pass protector and a willing run blocker, is an exceptional athlete, and an honor student who got his degree ahead of schedule? He sucks.

I'm the Bills GM for the Dallas News mock draft

Dallas pass up a LB in the first round for any of those guys? No way. I'd expect the 'Boys to snare Manny Lawson if he's there, if not probably a guy like Thomas Howard. If they were to go away from LB, it'll be for a DB, not a DT. I just don't see that. Colledge is an OT. Wroten is a guy whose name I've seen thrown around on this board, but I don't want him. Too many off the field issues for me. First rate OL in the second? I could live w/ that. We should be in the running for any of the top 3 guards (Jean-Gilles, Joseph, Spencer). Mangold will be gone, as will Winston, more than likely. -

There's a difference between any two players. None are alike. McCargo in the late first? To who? -

1. Huff 2. McCargo 3a. Lutui 3b. Trueblood What would be bad about this scenario for the first 3 rounds? To get a playmaker in the secondary, a very good DT, a guard who has tremendous upside, and a very good OT? -

No! It's only a one round draft, which is why we must draft a DT/OT/OG/C in the first round. What have you heard of this Haloti Fergusondavinmangold kid? -
I prefer boxing, minus the heavyweight division, which is more pathetic than UFC.

*EDIT* WITH THE DRAFT 13 HOURS AWAY......
R. Rich replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. HOUSTON - Haloti Ngata Ngata is clearly the best pick in the draft and the Texans know it. He'll take them to the Super Bowl. 2. NEW ORLEANS - Jimmy Williams They meant "Mario Williams", but whoever was supposed to write the name on the card was drunk. 3. TENNESSEE - Jay Cutler Young gun who is very erratic. He should fit in well w/ Norm Chow's offense, as it is usually manned by an undisciplined gunslinger. 4. NYJ - Winston Justice They wanted D'Brickashaw Ferguson, but fell in love w/ Justice's workout numbers. Plus, he has shown he fits the New York mentality. 5. GREEN BAY - Vince Young They finally say, "Screw you, Brett! You're outta here!" W/ Jay Cutler gone and Matt Leinart under investigation for his family living in a crack house, Young is the best QB available. 6. SAN FRAN - Leonard Pope The Niners don't believe the hype surrounding Vernon Davis. Pope, they say, is a much better fit for them. John York is Executive of the Year. 7. OAKLAND - Santonio Holmes Al Davis shows again that offense wins championships by getting the best WR in a year chock full of 'em. 8. BUFFALO - Sinorice Moss W/ pressing needs up front, the Bills make the obvious choice: a small, speedy wideout. Levy finishes second in the GM of the Year voting. 9. DETROIT - Michael Huff Matt Millen is kidnapped, and the Lions make a selection that actually makes sense for their organization. 10. ARIZONA - Mario Williams The Cardinals go defense and nab the best defender in the draft. When asked why, it was, "because we weren't smoking what those other 9 idiots were." -

Yeah, but what's his 40 time? -
Oh...you said don't vote if you don't know what you're talking about. Oops.

I guess not. -
Not overly ridiculous, but for them to pass up a quality TE like Leonard Pope for Joseph would be a bad move. They need the TE more.
-
Maybe so. It would be nice if that team were the Bills. Setterstrom w/ a 4th, after landing Lutui or Spencer w/ a 3rd (I think Joseph is gone in the 2nd) after getting McCargo w/ a 2nd after getting Michael Huff in the first? I'd call that a very successful start to our draft.
-
Lawson is a beast of a pass rusher who should do well as a 3-4 LB, ala Merriman and Ware from last year. He'd command a first round pick though, and I'd hope we use that pick on a lineman or to upgrade the secondary. If we use it on a pass rusher, I hope it's part of a trade down to get more picks for more help.

I'd like to see Watkins drafted by the Bills.

Gosselin is very good w/ the mock drafts. Let's just hope he's right.....again. -
Setterstrom's stock has really dropped since the Senior Bowl, meaning we could land him later on and use one of the earlier picks on a stud guard to put opposite him, maybe Lutui, Spencer, or Joseph. A bad record would give us another high draft pick to worry about. Maybe we'd get lucky and get Calvin Johnson, the awesome WR from Georgia Tech. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's still THIS year to deal w/, and the Bills could surprise us all.
-
And to think, they could've had Ryan Sims instead of that bust Kevin Williams.

Man, if we landed him, I'd be thrilled! I don't know if it will turn out that way, but it sure would be nice if it did. -
I don't think trade values are a constant, William. Some years, you have good depth in the draft and it may be tougher to get good trade value for moving up/down. Some years, you get a crappy draft, so teams are forced to reach for a player if they want to move up and pay dearly for it. This year, I think this is a very deep draft in a number of positions (weak @ WR, top heavy @ QB, RB, but pretty solid everywhere else), so I could see the Bills getting multiple picks in this draft for moving down as opposed to getting a future pick.
-
Agreed, unless we throw in a pick, there's no way the Vikes would give up 3 high picks for one pick, even if it is 8th overall. They need more than one player.
-
Will ya stop wasting your gift on such trivial stuff and just give us the Powerball numbers?
-
There's hardly a dropoff though. It's not like the OTs, where there's D'Brickashaw Ferguson, then a dropoff to Winston Justice, Eric Winston, and the others. Joseph, Spencer, Jean-Gilles and Lutui aren't separated by much.
-
I like both Spencer and Lutui, but if given the choice, I'd go w/ Deuce. Deuce, since losing over 40 lbs, has seen his mobility improve tremendously, to the point where he is now noted for pulling and, when he does, looking to destroy whoever he sees. Great attitude, hard worker, and is still learning the position.
