  1. I know very little of Brazile, other than he was part of the Tooz trade. Lloyd is one of Psycho Ward 86's favorite Stillers. I got her a Lloyd reversable jersey for her birthday, which happened to be the day of the first ever Steelers-Ravens game in Baltimore (which we attended). Unfortunately, the Ravens won that game. Henderson.....didn't he get busted for having sex w/ a minor or something? I know I heard him on Sirius talking about some program which he's involved in now. It seems like he's really turned his life around.
  2. Ham and Lanier are legendary for playing the position the way I always tried to (not nearly as well as they did, of course): being versatile enough to be an asset all over the field and a liability in no area. They were just as smart as they were fast as they were tough as they were technically sound. The complete package.
  3. Actually, no I wasn't. I knew of the Porter cover just because they made such a big deal out of it ("most feared player blah blah blah..."). I get ESPN magazine as part of my Insider subscription. I think SI is not worth the costs, so I don't subscribe and I certainly don't pay the newstand price for that stuff. There's some good writers for SI, in particular Rick Reilly, but not enough to justify the price tag in my opinion.
  4. There's many linebackers I liked (I played the position in high school/college), but I think if I had to go w/ a favorite, it would be either Jack Ham or Willie Lanier. But, w/ that position, there's so many I could name like Ted Hendricks, Jack Lambert, Ray Nitschke, LT (the ONLY person I call that, because my memory goes further back than 2 weeks), and Mike Curtis, for starters.
  5. You would've loved Carl Banks' take on Urlacher the other day on Sirius. He called him a great player, but not necessarily a great LB, making mention of Urlacher's ability to generate turnovers and his overall athleticism in terms of both run and pass coverage. He said some in the media even made mention of Urlacher being the best LB the Bears ever had. I can only guess that said media member was labotomized or just picked up the game after the careers of Samurai Mike and Butkus.
  6. Why bring Joey Porter into this discussion? Meanie, Truthie....what's the difference?
  7. The potbelly calling the kettle what?
  8. That explains your rationale, which, BTW, I'm not totally against. My question is what makes anyone think that, given the transactions of last year, that the Bills will once again go for a DT w/ their first pick?
  9. Beerball = ieatcrayonz?????
  10. There's a nice, shiny board called Off the Wall that beckons you.
  11. Is it true that Fletch had a total of 4 tackles for loss this season? I'm curious.
  12. Oh yeah, and let's all remember... the NFL draft will conclude w/ the end of the SEVENTH round, not the first round. For all the flack people gave Marv for last year's draft, we got 5 starters out of that group and added depth as well. Not bad........for a guy who sucks.
  13. Uh huh. As unlikely as it may be (considering the last decade or so), if we were to land a big time free agent guard, there's no need to go after another one w/ the first pick in the draft. That's not saying you can't address depth in other rounds, but the first pick should be an impact player to immediately help. Do we need to sign a top level free agent AND draft the best guard available? I don't think so, especially when our LBs just spent the last year showing us an inability to shed blocks, poor awareness, and even worse tackling. Adding a guy like Buster Davis, Brandon Siler, David Harris, or Patrick Willis (if we were to sign a stud FA guard) would be the route I'd take. A DT? Again, if the Bills have given up on McCargo already and are again looking to draft a DT in the first round, then I'd consider that position.
  14. Which brings me to a statement made here in this thread by a guy we both know and have discussed football w/ over drinks and wings...
  15. Again I ask, does anyone have a link to anything from the Buffalo Bills organization that indicates that they will, after signing a free agent DT AND trading back into the first round of last year's draft to select a DT, use their top pick this year on another DT? Honestly. If that's the case, then Branch or Okoye wouldn't be bad choices @ all.
  16. Excellent point, EII. There's less and less guidance out there for kids, due to "babies having babies", which leads to a bunch of irresponsible parents who are overwhelmed and underprepared.
  17. I can't see the link (firewall @ work), but is it the one where they mocked Arn Anderson's "I'll give you my spot" scene w/ the late Curt Hennig? I love that one. I have it on a VHS tape, and I watch it every so often. BTW, I met Arn Anderson years ago when I was out w/ my wife. He's a really nice guy and spent quite a while talking to me about all the stuff wrestlers had to deal w/ (the road, bad pay, unscrupulous promoters, etc.). I also met Haku (aka Meng) that night. Nice guy too. He left the bartender a HUGE tip on his credit card! Must've had a lot to drink.
  18. Scott Hall is as dominant a wrestler as I've seen. If only he could control his demons...
  19. A lineman to help the interior line should be a high priority, but a first round pick on a guard? I'm not sure. Davin Joseph was a solid choice for Tampa, but hasn't set the world on fire. In the first round, I'd like to see the LB unit upgraded, if the lines aren't going to be addressed. Imagine that.
  20. I mentioned the Hart Foundation, but they're not one of my 5 FAVORITE teams. It's a matter of opinion. I like the Harts, but I like the other 5 I mentioned more.
  21. The kendo stick would work better.
  22. Hahahaha!!!! The "Dream Team". Riiiiiiight.
  23. Darin brought up Garea earlier too, but mentioned him w/ Martel. I still think the best partner he had was Larry Zbysko, though he never really had any slouches as partners.
  24. Sky's the limit for him. I think he's got a lot of talent and plays tough, something I'd love to see our interior linemen do. Footwork will be an issue, but he did a very good job the week of the Senior Bowl practices and in the game itself, so hopefully he's working on that phase of his game.
  25. No love for the Blackjacks? They were a bada** team, and Mulligan's feud w/ Andre (they had a great Texas Death Match many years ago) was legendary.
