    Von miller contract

    Dawson Knox contract

    Stephen diggs contract

Defense line draft picks that never pan out

Defense tackle signings that are not good enough

    No reliable pass rusher

    Wyatt Teller give away

    Edmunds

Just curious why he is so highly regarded when these issues have come to roost fully

Winning the AFC East in 4 of his 5 seasons here. Trading Ryan Bates to a team that tried to get him for nothing.

Let's see Josh Allen, James Cook, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, Tyson Brown, O'Cyrus Torrence, Greg Rousseau, Ed Oliver, Terrell Bernard, Taron Johnson, Christian Benford. Getting a replacement for an injured Tre White along with a draft pick in a trade. Re-signing Josh Allen, Da'Quan Jones, Matt Milano, Dion Dawkins to below market deals. That's just for starters...

theres no sugar coating the negative short term 2024 hit that $32 in dead cap hurts.

but there's a big long term cap savings for 2025, 2026 & 2027  ...AND a bonus early 2nd round draft pick that can be used to replace him.

diggs didn't want to be here, the bills didn't want him....it had to be done. beane did well out of a bad situation

I know just playing Devil's advocate.

The $ was already paid.  The move cost an additional 3.2 mil this year against the cap  and freed up around 60 million in future years cap space.  27 next year.

but you put a big hole at your WR1 position and a using $32 million against the cap this year for a 2nd round pick in next year's draft.

Diggs gets more money this year and gets to choose where he plays next year. Seems like a good deal for him and pretty straightforward.

The only issue is his going to a new team, a new offense, a new QB, new guys to compete with for targets. Ideally he comes in and is the alpha dog he's been most of his career and has another top 5 season to allow him to find a bigger deal or sign wherever he wants next year. Yet what happens if the pasture isn't green on this side or he gets hurt? He's betting on himself which I'd say usually a good thing based on his history yet way his season ended last season and all new things coming up in 2024 he might end up making a mistake. As the saying goes, only time will tell.

You should.  I honestly think he could end up being the best WR of the 3.  The dude just goes gets the ball.  IMO he is the most complete WR in the draft top to bottom.   Now that doesn't mean he can't still be a bust or what not, I mean the NFL is littered with guys who either never were as good as they were hyped to be (Like Jerry Jeudy for example) or just were a total bust.  But as we sit now, I feel like he is the most complete WR in the draft.

I like Nabers too, he reminds of Diggs TBH.  But if both guys were on the board and the Bills were on the clock, I would take Odunze, I think he brings more to the table in Buffalo because he will still be as dangerous in bad weather as good weather.  His ball skills are the best in the draft IMHO.

The guy that reminds me of Diggs is Jermaine Burton. With his character flaws he could fall to Round 4 or some team will look past him and take him in Round 2 or 3.

  6. Trade our 2nd this year and  Minnesota's 2nd next year for Ayuik. Draft the best DL in Round 1. Draft a Safety in Round 3. In Round 4 look for a WR am sure someone good may fall yet not sure who so I take Cornelius Johnson, as he has been a target of mine since the draft season started.

    WR1 Ayuik

    WR2/RB3 Samuel

    WR3 Shakir

    WR4 Johnson

    WR5 Hollins

    WR6/KR/PR KJ Hamler

    PS

    Shorter

    UDFA Troy Omeire

    Tyrell Shavers

This guy absolutely jumps off the screen anytime you watch FSU.

He's likely the first RB off the board, that said I don't want the Bills to take him as happy with Cook as a #1 and adding a mid to late RB2 with size. Isaiah Davis is one of my late favorites.

No on Higgins.  He is a very good WR2 but wants top end WR1 money.

What people keep forgetting is that this is a historically rich and deep WR draft.  You don't give up a lot ahead of this draft for a WR unless you are getting back an elite player.  Higgins is very good, but he isn't so good that you pass up having WR's on rookie deals for 4-5 years to overpay Higgins to be an underwhelming WR1.

Just my 2 cents in regards to Higgins.  IMHO Aiyuk > Higgins and I would feel better about a trade for Aiyuk than Higgins.  Aiyuk I think can do what Diggs did here, reach a whole new level playing with Allen.

Higgins reminds me of when Peerless Price got traded to the Falcons just to find out he was better suited as a top end WR2 next to another great WR and not really ever meant to be a WR1.  Higgins is probably a better player than Price, just using that example of a team that over paid both in trade compensation and contract for a guy who wasn't best suited to be the man.

Higgins does offer some size which we lack at the position, he might be a WR2 but if we end up signing him 4-5 years we can maybe draft a guy in the mid rounds to see if he develops into a WR1 or move him to WR2 if needed and make HIggins earn his check as a WR1. Yet I agree Ayiuk a better all around option but ultimately the draft best option long term.

Nah he is $14.1m this year. We could extend him and lower the hit.... but you can only do that once he is on your roster.... and to get him on your roster you need the space to take on the contract in the first place.

I guess we'll have to wait til June or maybe convince the Bengals to unfranchise Higgins, sign him to a one year deal on the cheap and then trade him to us.

The Giants sure need OL help but I don’t see the Bills moving Dawkins he has generally be healthy at a position of need at with a recently redone deal. Also he played very well by most metrics  last year.

The Giants could also use some help at TE if Waller retires which been rumored. I'm not saying we could get Knox and #28 for #6 but it's an interesting thought. Personally I wouldn't make the trade.

  11. Let the draft playout, I'd prefer to keep most of our picks or if trade up do so in later rounds vs early because we need more than just a WR to come out of this draft. I'd also like a possible Edge rusher, a DT and a Safety and maybe not this order. Then after June 1st when we get our Tre White money back see if any veterans are available for a picks in 2025 (see Higgins or Ayiuk).

You say we can't afford to sell the farm?....yet we can afford to straight up trade 28 and a high pick next year?  + pay Aiyuk 28 million a year

Why can't we trade 28 and a 2nd next year to move up to 17-19 ?

The top 2 WRs taken in the 2023 draft were Quinton Johnston and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, guess what? they got out performed by guys taken after them in Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers, aka just because you draft a guy earlier doesn't necessarily make them better. Toss in think it safe to assume that Aiyuk would likely out perform a rookie.

Other than lynch I can’t think of a player the bills had then left that actually did something excellent

Gilmore won a Super Bowl with the Patriots and won AP CB of the year if I'm not mistaken.

    I'm pretty happy with a 2nd tbh

You're happy we lost Diggs and a 6th this year to move up to the 2nd next year from the 5th? I get we had to purge salary but feels like too much to me.

"Would've liked something this year, but the best I could get was a pick next year" tells me all I need to know. This has been in the wirks for a while, and there was not a great market for Diggs

Toss in there were mumbles that Stef asked about living in Houston, sounds like he gave us a short list of teams he'd go to and we abliged.

I’m at peace with this trade.

It is clear Diggs wanted out.  Beane had no leverage and probably did the best he could.

I like the Vikings but now I have to hope they go 0 - 17.

Upside though is no more cryptic tweet threads.

Another upside is we don't have to hear  his brother wants Stef out of Buffalo.
