So again let's not give our all world QB a 1st round talent at WR.   Christ people...

The Chiefs haven't drafted a 1st Round WR for Mahomes since they added him. I guess they're a poor team to emulate?

  2. It remains to be seen in who will be available. Ultimately I think a DL like Chop Robinson, Darius Robinson or Johnny Newton could fall to us which to make me wait in WR as think the DL depth isn't great this year. I admit though I'd also love to grab Brian Thomas or Ad Mitchell or Xavier Legette.

Not sure what you mean by law of averages. I’ve read his weight was down intentionally so he could break the 40 record.

Fair re: Diggs. I think McConkey goes in the 1st.

I just think with his 170 lbs is going to be less than ideal. I know about Dvonta Smith but feel he's an exception not a rule. I mean Worthy hype only come since his forty time imo.

    No Thomas Jr.?

I feel like Allen was at his best with Diggs, Brown, and/or Sanders as “boundary” WRs. Do you see them similarly to the 4 prospects you listed? Or closer to Gabe?

    Fair enough.

Obviously Tyreek is one of one, but what about Worthy makes you think he might struggle at the next level?

On the McConkey/Diggs comparison, how do you factor in that the latter was a 5th round pick?

The law of averages and it seems like most elite speed guys struggle in the NFL and of course his low weight a concern.

Diggs going to Maryland didn't help his cause as let's admit it they haven't been relevant in the NCAA. Toss in his best season was his freshman year and he struggled with injuries a bit in school etc. So his stock dropped for said reasons.

Curious whether you think Worthy and McConkey can or cannot be effective from the outside

Wothy maybe only because he's got elite speed and that might cause teams to not want to bump and run him because of fear he'll take them to the house but we've seen guys with elite speed struggle in the NFL. Tyreek has been an exception IMO not the rule. McConkey to be is a pure slot, as he wins based on route running and short area quickness. I know people will claim this sounds like Stef, difference being Stef was a 5 star guy coming out of highschool, Ladd was a 3 star. Also Stef plays bigger than his size IMO and has elite ability to separate.  So, no I don't think either of these two will be above average outside options.

Is there something other than size and being “boundary WRs” that sets those guys apart?

Thomas, Mitchell and Legette have size and speed. Franklin/Coleman either thinner or slower and as result perceived less than ideal. Now I could argue Cornelius Johnson, Bub Means, De'Corian Clark fit this mold of boundary WRs but may not be as NFL ready as the first 3.

I like both picks but mine is the opposite I like what i see from Leggett he is my draft man crush this year, his size & speed i think he is the entire package & would help Josh & with his skill set would open things up for the others in the passing game .

I agree Legette is my guy this year, at first I was all in on Mitchell but after his 4.30 combine I figured he wouldn't last to 28, Legette should fall and have no issues going with him assuming top end DTs/DEs are taken previously.

Yeah, that was a wicked draft. You forgot Jermaine Lewis and Joe Horn too…

And Bobby Engram has a few good years too.

If this is about the next 5-6 years of this team, then there's no better time to nab Larry Fitzgerald/AJ Green

It's going to take more than #28 and a 1st next year to move into the top 3/4 to get MHJ.

I guess that would depend on just how good Marvin Harrison Jr. is and how the Bills evaluate him.

As for the bad memories about what we gave up for Sammy, I agree and that would make me hesitate as well.

For those of you who have seen Harrison play more than I have, is he a generational talent? If yes, a trade would be tempting. If not, keep our 2025 pick for next year.

Daniel Jeremiah made a good comparison IMHO to AJ Green in size and how graceful they are. I think he also compares to Larry Fitzgerald in knowledge of routes/hands but a step or two faster. Both great yet to me this draft about the next 5-6 years of this team and reinforce some holes we took on this off-season. Absolutely, #1 WRs are extremely valuable in this league. If there's one they are confident in, pull the trigger on that trade. People who have PTSD from the Sammy Watkins trade forget that this is a much better environment for a new WR to come into, and this staff seems much better at identifying guys with the right mindset.

My issue is it's a strong draft at WR and we don't need the best just an above average guy who could easily fall to us. Toss in Beane knows the value of draft picks and I can't see him using two 1sts on 1 WR.

And I've mentioned this a couple times before, but imagine if Minnesota had spent a boat load of picks to trade up to Draft a higher ranked prospect instead of staying put and taking the 5th WR off the board in Justin Jefferson.

It's no guarantee the higher rated prospect at any position in any class is going to end up the better NFL player. It's practically irresponsible to pay a King's Ransom for a "better" WR in a class that has (in my book) EIGHT WR's with a 1st Round grade.

I agree 💯 with this. It's similar to the Watkins draft which was deep at WR. and to go back further the year we got Moulds who was the 5th WR off the board. The 2nd Round unearthed Amani Toomer and Muhsin Muhammed and a 3rd rounder (and future Bill) made the HOF aka TO.

  11. It feels like much longer than 10 years. Maybe a testament to how much better things been the last 6 or so years then the last 20 or so under Ralph.

I believe that's correct.  But once established in Buffalo, he kept the team here and remained loyal to it throughout his life and even after his death.

Buffalo was not Jim Kelly's first choice either, but look how that turned out.

It only turned out because the USFL failed. Had it not Frank Reich might have been our eventually starting QB and we'd all B word we took Mark Traynowicz and passed on Randall Cunningham.

I get the need for a bigger WR. I also think there is very little chance that Brian Thomas and AD Mitchell are on the board when the Bills pick. I also think that the Bills not getting a 3rd round comp pick is going to hinder the possibility of trading up.

That leaves Legette and even Gunner , who is a huge fan of him had readily admitted people in the industry don’t see him as a 1st rounder even tho he does. I see him as a late round 2 guy but had him going 43 in my latest mock.  I just don’t think the 3 guys people constantly talk about are truly feasible options

I'm a Legette fan. He's a borderline 1st Rounder in my eyes and wouldn't mind taking him at 28 pending what DL are left on the board. That said I see it's a good draft for WRs and if get one later am okay but to me they have to have size (see 6'1 or taller and 190 lbs or more)  and (speed) 4.55 been talking up Cornelius Johnson as much as I can as think he's a sleeper pick if can get him in Round 4.

I was being a smart ass man, let’s be frank you or I, or anyone else on this board have no idea what the Bills are going to do. You have no idea if they will take Malachi Corley or any other perceived slot or small WR. I also have no clue if they are only targeting big WRs. At least I’ve been willing to discuss all options both WR and non WR at 28 instead of pigeonholing myself to 3 human beings like 90% of this board has done.

I was one of the first who brought up both McConkey and Roman Wilson who will both go around ish the Bills pick only to be told nope impossible. I sat here and talked about DT being a legit possibility which it still is in round 1 when Jeremiah mocked Jerzahn Newton but no one wants to have an open mind because it’s Brian Thomas, AD Mitchell or Xavier Legette or bust on this board

I understand your thoughts on DT but the big issue is there aren't many great 1 tech projects or NT in this year's draft. The 3 DL id be interested at pick 28 are Newton and Darius Robinson are definitely guys id look at. Yet admit the 3 WRs you mention appeal to me as well. Ultimately if go by value based drafting I'd prob take DL in the first and wait on WR as think can find quality WRs later and feel they can be developing wheras big guys rely a lot more on natural talent/scheme fit.
