  1. We have the kind of defense that feasts on crap qbs. Great front four can shut down the run and make a team one dimensional. Unfortunately, our linebackers and secondary are very average in coverage, so they can easily be exploited by an elite qb. The crap QBs we've faced are either too inexperienced or just plain suck too much to get the o-line in the right protections and get rid of the ball to beat the rush. This won't be the case with Manning, Rodgers and Brady (as we've already seen). Given our anemic offense, I expect 10-20 point losses in each of these three games.

  2. Well, 9-7 and finishing 3-1 are two completely different things. But okay.

That's my point. I'd consider 2-2 (9-7) a miracle. And that will not be good enough to get us into the playoffs. I'm saying there is no chance we finish 3-1. None.

  3. No. Every game is precious to every team still in the playoff hunt this time of year. Denver only has a one game lead in their division. They have a ton of veterans, an experienced head coach and a 15+ year hall of fame QB. You better believe that they will be laser focused on destroying us come Sunday.

  4. Yes and No. Yes, we aren't terrible, but, no, we aren't good either. Our results are pretty typical of a mediocre/average NFL team.

    Records of opponents we've beaten 2-8, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-3.

    Records of opponents we've lost to: 5-5, 6-4, 8-2, 7-3 and 6-4.

We have one win against a truly terrible team that we should always beat (Jets) and one loss against a world-beater type that almost all teams would lose (Pats). The rest of the games fall into the winnable/competitive kind of category and we've split them. Pretty average team. Pretty average results.

  5. Dolphins are hurting, our key guys are actually on the mend (Watkins and FJ) and now we have the benefit of having established a couple of additional key weapons in Brown and Dixon. If we come out and smack down the Dolphins on Thursday, I like our chances of getting to 8-4 before the tough homestretch. Probably delusional, but I still think we could beat NE the last week of the season. I just hope we can get to 10-5 or 9-6 to make that one a meaningful game.

  6. I kind of felt like the biggest momentum changer was the TD run on 4th and 1. Up until that point their offense couldn't do anything against our defense and even though they were still losing it just seemed to change the way the game was going IMO.

Agree. That was the momentum changer. McKelvin's fumble was the breaking of the dam.

We still scored and had momentum after Brown's fumble. It looked as if we would still close out the game until that 4th and 1 play. And let's not forget the 3rd and 16 that preceded it. Schwartz sat back in 3 man rush and that completion allowed the Chiefs the option of gambling on 4th and 1. Bring the heat with 4 or 5 guys on 3rd and the best you're probably looking at is a 7-8 yard dump off and a Chiefs punt. That really pissed me off watching that sequence in real time.

  7. I'm sure the stats would be still be largely in Brady;s favour if adjusted.

Some people are not into objective stats and would rather look at things with subjective biases in place. That's fine, the world needs both types.

Are you implying that Manning's coaches are responsible for him consistently crapping the bed when the chips are down?

Yes. When faced with a more talented or superior coached team, his coaches aren't devising game plans that maximize his effectiveness. (See, Jim Kelly/Marv Levy vs. Giants/Redskins/Cowboys)

  8. Sort of agree with you other than the fact that the eyeball test is telling me we aren't a playoff team. Guess we'll find out during the next three weeks. If we can get through November at 3-1, we'll give ourselves a puncher's chance in December.

  9. There seems to always be something, or someone, to blame for Manning crapping the bed when playing against Brady. It's beyond the point of ridiculousness.

For years it was that Manning never had the defensive talent that Brady had. For much of that time it was probably true because much of the sal cap money went towards equipping Manning with studs galore on offense to help him set passing records.

However, this offseason the Broncos went "all-in" and opened up the cash vault and added a plethora of talent to their defense in an effort to equip Manning even more ammunition to go out and beat Brady. Well, so much for that excuse I suppose.

At some point, people need to stop with the excuses and recognize this for what it is ..... Brady is clearly the superior QB.

They are both great QBs. I tend to favor Brady as well, but he's had the benefit of playing for one of the all-time greatest coaches for the entirety of his career. I think that plays a huge part in the performances you see from these guys in the biggest games and against the best teams. Mora, Dungy, Caldwell and Fox are all average coaches in my opinion. They aren't close to being in Belichick's league.

  10. If you gave your loan money to get a diploma from a bogus "for profit" law school, it's haed to generate sympathy for you.

As a fellow "victim" of the law school scam, the issue is that these schools were almost uniformly inflating their employment statistics to lure in their prey. And it's not just bottom tier diploma mills. I attended a top-20 law school and the employment placement statistics made it seem like it was a slam dunk that I'd land a $140k gig so long as I put in a decent amount of effort, and that I was virtually guaranteed of something in the $80-100k range just by graduating. Turns out these schools are very creative in how they report their employment numbers and do things like set up students with temporary school paid gigs to pad their numbers, only to leave you with no legitimate legal employment opportunities. Maybe the top 20% of my class did well and landed the high-paying biglaw jobs, the next 20% found some type of mid-law or government job, and the remaining 60% were left to scramble for sh*tlaw or non-jd positions.

Still, I blame myself for going to law school when the only thing that interested me about it was the potential salary. I was shortsighted and I paid the price.

  11. Two penalties, two sacks, and a 4th and 20 all on that last drive. I'm shocked the Vikings DC is still employed today. Can you imagine if the reverse happened how many "Fire Schwartz now!" posts there would be here? :)

The funny thing is that the Vikes did just about everything right on that drive. Just some great individual plays/one-on-one victories by our guys.

  12. McKelvin is a pretty good corner at this point. People hate him because he was a 1st round db drafted by Jauron (who always seemed to prioritize the position over other areas of need), the NE fumble, and his struggles locating the ball during his first couple of seasons in the league. He's always done a good job (for the most part) of staying with his man and now that he's learned how to play the ball a bit he's an above-average cover guy.

  13. I don't like our chances. Jets will get physical with us. I see us having a very hard time moving the ball. Geno Smith is the type of qb that you should blitz the hell out of, but schwartz will sit back, rush 3-4, and allow geno to get comfortable enough to hurt us with a few throws. I smell a 10 point loss.

  14. The problem is that we have mostly been playing like crap since week 3. Yes, we miraculously pulled two wins out of our behinds during that stretch, but what we've seen is not a recipe for success. The team is getting worse, not better, at this point. Reminds me a lot of 2003.

  15. My whole point is how as Bills fans are we OK with Orton starting. EJ failed, we get it and now we are still up **** creek without a paddle

This is more a story of the FO failing, than Orton. I get mad when I see people saying Orton isn't the problem when he clearly isn't the solution. The FO screwed the pooch, badly.

No one is saying this is a great situation. Or that Orton is the longterm solution (outside of 2-3 years). Only that Orton shouldn't be the whipping boy for the fans' frustrations with the front office. Anybody that's an experienced football watcher can plainly see that Orton is playing average-to-good over his first two starts, yet there is a vocal minority that scream out "Orton sucks!" or "Orton is mediocre." No. The dude is playing pretty well and gave us a chance to win against two teams with a combined 8-4 record. I actually still have some hope of the playoffs with Orton behind center. I couldn't say the same when EJ was taking snaps.

  16. I dont disagree he is our best option. Doesn't make him a viable starter

I think the only QBs I would have Orton over are as follows

    Geno

Austin Davis (Though he might be good in a few years)

    Glennon/McCown

    Bortles (again right now)

    Fitz

    Locker/Whitehurst

    Cousins

That puts him at 24th starter. Thats bad folks.

IMO, right now he's also better than Tannehill, Palmer/Stanton and Bridgewater. I like him more than Foles too, who I view as a product of Kelly's system. Personally, I like him more than Eli and Stafford, but you can comfortably group him with those guys. So, he's a solidly middle-of-the-pack kind of qb. Which is about the best that we can hope for over the next couple of years while we draft and groom our newest qb-of-the-future.

He also added that the guys refer to Aaron Williams as "Pringles," because he dong is the size of a, well, you know. We sure could've used Pringles out there on Sunday.

Poor guy. His dong is the same size as a potato chip. Small, thin, brittle and salty. :P
