  1. I didn't say we SHOULD do it. Just asking what if. Honestly, it doesn't seem to make sense given that you couldn't even hit for sure by doing it only in the first round (judging from post Flacco) The TANK philosophy would work MUCH better, actually.
  2. I generally agree, but it really looks like you are shooting for the moon if you think you'll get a top QB outside of the 1st round. And when you go through the history, you realize how hard it is to find a QB in the draft.
  3. Since Kim P. mentioned that the Sabres would pick a goalie every year, there has been talk of the Bills doing that with a QB. The question is, what round is best to do so? So I looked at all of the Bills' drafts since 2000. In a re-draft scenario, I drafted the QB drafted first after the Bills' pick (no cherry-picking, I wanted to use the collective reasoning of the league). I did this for rounds 1, 2 & 3. I did this until we had two current quality QBs on our roster. So who would our starting and backup QBs be now if we did this? How long would it have taken to get them? Who would we have given up? If we had done this with our first round picks, we would have Breeze since 2001 and Flacco since 2008. We would have to give up the following to get that duo: Flowers, Clements, M. Williams, McGahee, Evans, Losman, Whitner, McCargo, & Lynch. Summary: I do it and we are champion caliber since 2008. Starters of note that we would have given up: Clements, McGahee, Evens, Whitner, and Lynch. This is a NO brainer. If we had done this with our second round picks, we would have Kolb since 2007 and Dalton since 2011 and since Kolb is gone either Glennon/Clausen. We would have to give up the following to get that pair: Tillman, Shoebel,Henry, Reed, Kelsay, Parrish, Posluszny, Hardy, Wood, A. Williams. That seems like a lot, but we didn't real winning team with that bunch. I still may do it. We have a hit and miss starter (generous) from 2007-2011 and an above average current QB with an unknown backup. We would be giving up quality starters like Shoebel, Kelsay, Poz, Wood and Williams for that. With our third, we have Wilson since 2012 and Orton since 2005. We give up Moore, Edwards, Denny, Crowell, Anderson, Everett, Youboty, T. Edwards, Ellis, Byrd, Carrington, Sheppard, Graham. Serviceable QB from 2005-2011 and a solid starter since 2012. Realistically, we gave up Byrd and ultimately Hughes for this. I am not sure what to make of this, but it seems to me that we could do this with our 1st round pick starting next year and a third this year if we were going to try that strategy. Really though, you need to do it with your 1st to get good fast. Had we started after Flacco, however, it gets ugly. Manziel, Locker, and Manuel are really the best choices we would have made.
  4. I'm 4 expanding to 66. Acknowledge that u have o/d/st and need backups at all positions. Would allow for better development too.
  5. I love tailgating, but I love the new model of paying $100 more for all u can eat/drink at the game. Tampa's nhl games are great: show up 2 hrs early, drink great beer, and eat great food till the end of the game. It saves money 2 buy those tickets over tailgating and buying beer and I don't freeze. Would miss throwing the ball around before though
  6. When I played rugby, you were allowed one "buddy pass." The second one and your teammate had carte blanche to smack you up at the party after the game. Three and they would likely hit you in the game. The problem with the WRs in the NFL is that they loose a ton of money if they 1) don't get the numbers and/or 2) get hurt. I would want my QB out, professional or not, if it was going to cost me a few million because of his mistakes.
  7. Looks like Only 3 Bidders: https://sports.yahoo.com/news/ap-sources-3-groups-submit-215618004--nfl.html
  8. I just rewatched the game and came to the same conclusions. Our O is way out of sync. Every play some unit checks out and it kills the whole O. It is certainly not all EJ.
  9. The current GM/Coach made it a bit harder for the new owner to attract a top coach or GM and maybe bought time. How? The Watkins trade ensures that the new coach and GM come in without a 1st round pick. That would make it less attractive to top candidates next year. If Watkins pans out, they likely have a good year and stay on regardless. If he does not, it means EJ likely demonstrates that he is not as good as the current staff says. With no 1st, there is no chance of a star QB in year one and year 2 of the new coach/GM is likely under a rookie QB. That is 2 years of losing staring a new administration in the face. So, as I see it, they likely stay on if they win this year, and made it easier to stay on if they lose.
  10. Just killed it! Told the first person that I want to cancel. Puts me on hold for 10 minutes. Get a great guy. Tell him I just took a job that paid less and I am only with DTV for Sunday Ticket (ST) so need to cancel. (Note: I have been a customer since 2005 and always had the top package. Get a discount on ST every year.) He offers me 1/2 off on ST max ($160) + $40 off with free HBO/MAX/Showtime for 6 months ($240) + $15 off per month for a year ($180). WTF!!!! No haggling or anything. Ended up getting $580 off my bill!!!! He also told me to call and cancel the movie channels in 6 months and that I will get an additional discount. WOW. Love DTV (Even though I pay out the nose for it)!
  11. From management's perspective, I don't see the risk. If you lose next year, everyone is fired by the new owner. If you win, new owner will want to sell tickets and offset the lack of a 1st round pick with $$$$ in free agency. The risk is on the fans' side. If he sucks, we have nothing to talk about leading up to the draft and a long offseason. It also likely means EJ sucked and we don't have a way to replace him (not even $$$$ buys a top flight QB).
  12. Great. Score of the game at the time? Why would you cite one of the worst losses in recent memory.
  13. I'll miss SJ13. He made the losing fun. BUT... He lost us games. He was not clutch. His routes were, well, his... This makes it tough for a QB. 3 1000+ seasons? meh. That is no biggie in a passing league. Chan and Fitz made Stevie when we had nothing else. I do love him, love the enthusiasm, even love the antics. But I am ready for a winning culture above one rewards losing. Give the team to youth who will "own" winning instead of losing.
  14. Okay, best idea ever. We could legally gamble in the stadium! Probably bet on all games in NFL. All money from the team is distributed to the members of the Nation, most of whom live in the area and are Bills fans. Casino and hotel built next to stadium. I am loving this idea. Agree that a name change would be in order, but am okay with the Braves.
  15. Big fan of the Bon Jovi option. Living on a Prayer
  16. RIP. You created one of the defining features of many lives, including my own.
  17. Variation on rugby rules: Drop kick from the point of the pass. You could also add that you can try for 2 from the 2 if you would like. This would make for very exciting games.
  18. No. Carpenter should be our kicker next year.
  19. Totally agree. Also, Carpenter has been a great pickup. This FO/Coaching staff has been really encouraging
