  1. It's not like they filled those gaps with anything but third-tier replacements. This article lays out the rules, and gives some honor to the deed. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19652764/tanking-nfl-advantages-disadvantages-worth-new-york-jets-cleveland-browns-2017
  2. I enjoyed this particular article... Pro's and cons. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19652764/tanking-nfl-advantages-disadvantages-worth-new-york-jets-cleveland-browns-2017 I was speaking in general of nefarious deeds on the board... A spray bottle for an irate Chihuahua, if you will..
  3. Sounds like famous last words... KW is 34 years old, and not getting younger... If you could draft a beast to replace him next year, you'd be doing right... We have a new GM, a new HC, OC, and DC.. We've switched defensive philosophies, and let key players walk... Lowering your expectations in lieu of a bigger picture may be something OBD embraced at the end of Last season. If building through the draft is your goal, then what better way is there to go?
  4. Think of it as a strategic reduction in output pending draft order verification. Most of the teams you cited endured lousy seasons before breakthroughs... -Just not 17 of those lousy seasons... AND success for them generally meant the acquisition of a Franchise QB. A 3-13 season could have us sitting pretty with a fistful of options come draft time... Those options could translate into stud picks that could produce as early as 2018... Please understand, I'm not trying to sell this thing outright. I'm just dragging it out into the light so we can all have a look at it... It's not a great option, but at this point, it sounds less frustrating than 8-8 with another failed playoff bid. -Doesn't it? I KNOW several current/past pro athletes... AND have met some of their agents... I think you could steer a pro-athlete towards anything there's money at the end of... Especially if there's an understanding that this is what's happening from the start.
  5. Everyone acts like it's the worst thing they ever heard... After seventeen years, I'm open to hear anything that there's a plan behind... Sure, it's speculative space-filler... But it's interesting to discuss. -If it wasn't, most of you wouldn't have descended on this thread as quickly as you did... It's not a bad word, TANK... To me it's sounds cleaner and less ambiguous than "REBUILD"... Plus, if it results in a ton of leverage come draft time, where's the damage? It's not like we're protecting our reputations. Sure, it's difficult, but let's be mature, and examine the merits of a season where the point might not be winning every game... Or, if you choose, continue pounding the table with shout's of "playoffs NOW!" This board should be big enough to accommodate both perspectives sans the insults.
  6. Hope you're right... As long as you don't mean 0-7... It's a mean schedule..
  7. Not sure I support a tank starting week 1... However, If we're 1-6 after week 7, with OAK headed to town, I say do it up GOOD and PROPER.... That's not a tank, it's an investment in the future...
  8. Tanking puts us in a better position to score generational players in the next 2 years... It's ugly reasoning... But the last 17 years haven't exactly been cute... If McDoomed can win with this squad, he should keep winning... If, however, we're 1-6, at any point, we should do the right thing... FINISH THE TANK... Don't go ripping off six straight wins only to ruin our draft position and finish 8-8..
  9. I'd hate to see it, but the fact is, a thorough tanking SHOULD put us in BUSINESS by say, 2019-2020.. That, of course is assuming we do it for a franchise talent at QB... DT looks like the next big issue.... Dareus can't be counted on 100% due to off-the -field crap, and KW is reeling in the years.... If you tank good, and proper this season, you can fill this roster with 1st-2nd round talent... I don't like it a whole lot, but it sounds like a good business decision..
  10. From the Buffalo News... Kinda explains the cold-shoulder to guys like Maclin and Decker... I personally don't think Darnold or Rosen are worth it. http://buffalonews.com/2017/06/24/jay-skurskis-bills-mailbag-buffalo-super-bowl-one-day-charles-clay-get-cut-controls-53-man-roster-anyway/
  11. Better chance of striking a gas line than gold in WNY... McDoomed has pretty much laid low all offseason, which is good... Has lots of positive things to say about the team... Still I was hoping for more in the way of dark, and brooding behavior... Just once, I'd like him to look visibly unhappy with SOMETHING ... I saw that alot with Gase, and I respected it... Everything can't be good during a 17 year playoff drought...
  12. Ouch! But TBH, he needs a little more burst.... More technique and speed coming off the ball. I'm VERY interested in Jake Metz... He's in my top 5 for unknown players on the verge of a breakthrough.
  13. What other teams lack "eye candy" -Any reputable ones?
  14. All fair commentary... To which I'll add that Dilfer was one of the most reliable journeyman arms in the NFL for a while... Never struck me as the "hungry" type tho...
  15. It does help... But expecting to get lucky and just draft the next Brady is unrealistic... We're going to need coaches who can maximize the hand they're dealt. I found this quote and I absolutely love it! "We forget these coaches are supposed to be teachers," Dilfer said. "And when they're not, it affects the players. And unfortunately, the NFL doesn't have all good teachers. There are a lot of guys who have coached and have ‘OC' by their name; it doesn't mean they can teach. Usually you can tell if a quarterback's being developed right by what his eyes and feet are doing. That offense doesn't have a real flow to the passing game. The feet and the eyes don't always match what's going on downfield. That's not a Tyrod Taylor issue. That's a coaching issue." -Trent Dilfer.
  16. DUH, -Balls released faster have higher completion rates... Only people who didn't know this were the Bills... Pat's formula to winning is so damn simple it's disgusting. Us? -We need 15 different coaches, assistant coaches and gurus just to 7-9
  17. Oh, Rex had his share of fans didn't he... I was against him from midnight on day 1... I'm not totally against McDoomed... I just don't think he's bona fide HC material.... Not yet, anyway... Would've LOVED it if he came in as our DC, tho....
  18. Aren't yours? I'll never understand what this team has against building to the competition... This is an arms race... Teams like ATL, TEN, and TAM get that... NE has perhaps the greatest weapon in the league with TB... Why aren't we digging through his trash for hair follicles to CLONE the son-of-a-*gun... We'll never go far because we never go far enough... GO BILLS.
  19. The defense needs to improve without question... If they do, can they count on TT for run support??? I would've loved it if we Macdecker'd things this season... Teams that were serious about improving their bottom line stepped up...
  20. ATL won the NFC with the 25th ranked Defense!... Ours was ranked 19th... Do they have better weaons and a better QB? -Yup.... So, despite all the statistical love, It's fair for folks to question TT's usefulness going forward... Especially since the FO found it prudent to pass on both Decker AND Maclin... Setting McDermott up to fail?????
  21. Yah... Wish we had a buffoon that gifted, and stupid on OUR team.
  22. There's a very real chance that TT can give us tremendous leverage at certain field positions/down & Distances... If Yates, Peterman, or Jones (hey, it could happen!) emerges as more of a mainstay QB, perhaps TT can be trotted out after expensive Sacks.... Even short yardage situations where other backs can benefit from his presence on the field... Hmmmm.... I see a way to turn the situational love TT gets from the stat-guys into scoring drives for us. Does anyone feel similarly?
  23. The OP accomplishes nothing by posting this type of puff-piecework... Least of all, exonerating Tyrod for deficiencies in his game... These threads would have you believe TT was scrambling all over the field running, gunning, and scoring when the truth is that the Bills were dead last in passing attempt out of 32 teams, -dead last in completions per game, and dead last in passing touchdown percentage... This first-down-after-sack stat doesn't pass the sniff test.... How did those drives end? What were the average losses of the sacks he took in the first place? He may be our best option at the moment, but I think what Dennison decides will be very telling... TT excels at certain aspects of the passing game... IF Dennison makes a change at starter, TT will be the Maybach of backups in this league.
  24. Ever see a bunch of cabana-boys cowering in fear under a cabana??? -Not pretty.... All will be revealed about TT in 3 months time....
  25. Hm. Your screen name also needs to be shortened... -Can I call you Tranny for short?
