  1. For a couple years, the syndicate that carried Calvin and Hobbes, made him put out a nine-month calendar (I still have them). When the syndicate started to pressure him to do t-shirts, stuffed toys, board games wonder bread, met life, yuck, he said he would retire before he would sell out the characters. The syndicate was quite pissed since merchandising WAS in his initial agreement and he was backing out of his contract after he became successful (kind of like sports, eh?) Luckily, the franchising part of the contract was resolved and we got a few more years of dailies before he "ran out of new ideas". He did all the penciling, inking, and lettering... he wanted it to be 100% his creation. Many cartoonists routinely use ghost inkers, letterers, "think tanks" for new ideas, but he did not want to go that route. I miss C&H but would rather have it shelved than watered down or sold. If you see ANY C&H mugs, shirts, decals.... they are pirated and not approved by their creator. I know - that is more than you probably ever wanted to know but it is hard to shut me up!
  2. Merry Christmas to all!
  3. I have every one of the C&H compilations, except one that was just cartoons from two prior books. I often wonder: what Bill Watterson is up to these days?
  4. Bills related: baseball cap t-shirt leather/magnetic money clip with charging buffalo
  5. Merry Christmas, Belinda, wherever you are!
  6. Puh-leeze! I had it on vinyl!
  7. I am only as old as I feel, so I am still as young as you! Too bad Felix's wife put a .38 in his head. B word couldn't just argue!
  8. That is because you have more cows.
  9. He was the lead vocal and guitar, but bassist Felix Pappalardi really produced the music... that pounding beat. He also produced Cream before joining Mountain. He also produced one of my favorite southern/gospel/rock obscure bands - Mylon LeFevre and the Holy Smoke Doo-dah band. Please don't ask how or why I know this stuff! I had a Leslie West LP (pre-Mountain) that was not as good. West was a great guitarist who needed good production (some would call it more cowbell) to shine! Mountain Climbing is one of the classic early heavy metal records.
  10. well :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: too! heh.
  11. Yeah, I saw them! I am using #34 as my background now. I have a some pictures from the Jets game in Buffalo and the Bengals game coming to you soon. Have a great one of Nikki and Franklin.
  12. Matt, sit with your buddy and let the ladies go to Danny's and watch the game, warm, happy, and drunk.
  13. It is a game day decision for me and Nikki. Heck, we might come up just for the tailgate!
  14. babyrock was there but did not get on camera.
  15. Me either. Wot are I dewing rong?
  16. I wish we had more time. Me and babyrock did try to figure out how to make it to your place. Best we could do was let folks know we would be at McFaddens. Sorry if you missed the thread! The Steelers game is a game-day decision. We may come up even if it is just for the tailgate!
  17. I just want to see the Bills win out; that is the only thing they can control. Whether or not they make the playoffs is NOT in their hands. So, I just want to see them win out, no matter if 10-6 is a wall that is blocked by tie breakers, or it goes all the way to the Super Bowl. 1st string, 2nd string, scabs, all star stacked opponents... I don't care. Just win.
  18. Great self portrait - where'd you get the hat? Merry Christmas, Guff!
  19. :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: Holland Tunnel and Canal Street in Manhattan. Took 5.5 hours to get from Rochester to the entrance bridge before the tunnel, and two hours to travel the last couple miles to Brooklyn. A nine lane "parking lot" trying to merge into the two underground tunnel lanes! :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: BUT NYC was a fricking blast!
  20. To the two Matts: Sunday was the closest I have seen in a long time to a playoff atmosphere in Buffalo. Thanks for doing such a great job to everyone involved in the party! Thanks for the compliment GG, babyrock should teach "Kid Camp" for dysfunctional parents. For a "Where's Waldo" kind of moment, GG and I are in the crowd in pic #4.
  21. Which is why we call you the Village Idiot! Woodstock is NEXT week!
  22. ..hope to see some of you at McFaddens!
  23. I do not watch hockey or basketball, and I only watch baseball playoffs and the World Series. The exception is the occasional live game with the Rochester Amerks or Red Wings. On TV I find it boring. That said, I feel bad for hockey FANS that there is no season.
  24. He likes piss in his cornflakes. I'll be at the game - 42nd Street and 5th Avenue in NYC.
