We have a defense that many of us think is championship caliber( I know I do). This defensive line is relatively young, I didn't look it up but I think Kyle Williams is one of the few who I consider long in the tooth. But he's playing damn good football and probably has 3 good years left. Our LB's are young and Kiko is coming back. Our DB's are also pretty young, McKelvin is the oldest at 29 yrs. old. On Offense we are also relatively young. We have a young line that needs work, but young none the less except for Pears. I believe the young guys on the o-line will play a lot better with a year under their belts and hopefully better coaching. Young WR's as well with potential in Watkins and Woods. I like our ST with Carpenter and to me, our punter didn't stick out as a terrible punter. I also like the pickup of Thigpen. Rb's are pretty easy to get if the o-line does it's job. Having said all of this, we obviously feel we could use an upgrade at the QB position until EJ gets up to speed or it's determined he just can't cut it. If the staff feels there is a QB worth it, either a vet on a team already(RGIII, Cutler, Bradford etc.) or a rookie(Winston or Marriotta) would you be ok with a blockbuster trade to acquire this guy? When I say a Mike Ditka type of trade, it doesn't have to be all of our picks, but maybe most of the picks left to acquire this guy. We all seem to agree that we are a QB away from the playoffs and even a deep run in the playoffs. We should be able to find a guard or 2 that will be an improvement over Pears, even Williams coming back from injury would be an upgrade over Pears. I think we are close enough to being a complete team, that this thought actually crossed my mind. As young as this team is, we would have a 3-4 year run and 3 drafts to make up for this trade. Keep in mind the picks given up are not locks to be good(see this article http://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2014/4/17/5623840/nfl-draft-saints-ricky-williams-mike-ditka-trade ). Just a thought.

Unless he's missing one, I think he would have given both. Too old to make anymore babies. -

If this is in reference to EJ: So your saying there's a chance? I agree and hope he improves over the offseason ands TC. Since his #'s were similar to Orton, if there is some improvement, it should reflect in a better record and a playoff berth. Again, so you're saying there's a chance? -

Amen to this. I didn't see anywhere where it said it MUST be EJ or you don't get the job. -
Head Coach candidate: Rex Ryan

And I don't see K. Williams playing the nose in a 3-4. It didn't work very well with Pettine. At least against the run. -
The Two Faces of Doug Marrone
HerdMenatlity1 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's gone guys. Leave it alone. It seemed most on this board wanted him gone. Can't wait 'till we find a coaching staff. Maybe we can end this Marrone stuff. Getting kinda repetitive, no matter what the title of the thread is. -
Don't you mean "The mental gymnastics our fan base uses to praise rip this trade never fails to disappoint."? and where do you get that I was praising this trade?! again, semantics aside all I ask is we quit making it seem like we gave up more than what we did. It's not mental gymnastics, the #'s are pretty easy to decipher.
-
we exchanged a #1 and traded a #1 and a # 4 for a # 1. semantics aside, just wanted to make sure we all understand the trade, like you claim we all do. when someone see's it written that we gave up 2 # 1's, it makes the trade sound like what it wasn't. it clearly wasn't exchanging 2 #1's for 1 #1 either.

Your example might be ok except for the fact that d and o linemen are playing in a short area all game and step on things that aren't flat all game long. Ankles, feet, arms, hands. They get rolled on, chipped by RB. Piled onto when they are on the ground. So, most agree the 1st step is ok. To me the second step was nothing more than that, a second step to balance himself. I already know most won't agree. No problem. The media showed the clip that made it look terrible and intentional. The clip I provided at least shows it wasn't what the media made it out to be. And a lot of sheep fell for it. Not the kind to say I told you so, but I did come out and provide a link that espn and the likes didn't show, and came to his defense. This angle SHOULD change SOME people's minds, but some have a preconceived perception of Sue. I mentioned earlier, he is a dirty player, but some things are blown out of proportion. -
EJ Manuel. Our next star quarterback
HerdMenatlity1 replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, help us out here. Who do you want us to pick up or draft? It's a hell of a lot easier to complain about it than to come up with someone. Who is this QB you are talking about? And how do you suggest we make this move? If you can pick him, make the move to get him and sign him, there's a lot of teams out there that can use your help. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?type=position -

Look at the Qb's taken over the last 10 years and you can say the same thing for just about every college. Just sayin'. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?type=position In your comparison, you wouldn't send your kid to his room. You would kick him out of the house. "Go live with your Grandparents, Kid. I can't take you no more!". -

HerdMenatlity1 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going to guess you haven't seen much of Jameis in his two seasons because saying you would have a hard time picking him at 50 is crazy talk. I watched EJ play his whole career at FSU and Jameis. I would have taken a freshman Jameis over a graduated EJ 2 yrs ago. EJ waits till he see's you open, then throws to you. Jamies throws it where you are supposed to be ahead of time. You have to trust the play called and anticipate. Winston does that very well. EJ, not so much. -
