  1. Yes, every LB should be able to cover and play the run. The coaches are emphasizing positional versatility this offseason. We know he's great as the 4-3 MIKE. Now what about playing inside in the 3-4 or 3-3-5 and how well can he play it?
  2. The buzzword for defense this year seems to be versatile. How versatile is Dansby? I'm fairly certain he was strictly a 4-3 MIKE for Miami.
  3. Oh yeah? Well I say he WILL be starting week 1. I also say you've been reading too many articles about Logan Mankins.
  4. I think you are greatly undervaluing Byrd. He didn't allow a single TD in coverage last year and picked off 5 passes. With the aging of Ed Reed, he's arguably the best free safety in the league. That does sort of make him irreplaceable, if you are talking about replacing him with equal talent. What's killing negotiations is Tampa - they had a ridiculous amount of cap space and signed Goldson to an overinflated contract. I still feel confident they will reach a deal this summer before the July 15 deadline.
  5. No, they are not close. They are bad. And they did not "salvage" the season by going .500. You know town expectations are low when .500 is the bar. More teams make the playoffs than those that sit out in the NHL, and we've missed them what - 7 of the last 11 years? And now we need to rebuild? Sorry but the fans and media are right in this case. Darcy has had his shot and he failed, time to move on.
  6. Yeah, if Wanny had Jerry Hughes we would have made the playoffs.
  7. Shep was Gaileys guy, he fell in love with him when he coached the Senior Bowl because of his leadership skills. $@!& leadership and get a MLB that can shed blocks and tackle. Shep was the perfect example of weighing character over physical skills.
  8. I'm trying to find the full 30-minute show online but no luck. Keep an eye on the schedule NFL Network typically repeats shows every week it seems.
  9. This morning I watched Game Changers on NFL Network and they had 5 of the top WRs being grilled (this was pre-draft) by Michael Irvin and Steve Mariucci. Woods and Rogers were 2 of the 5, and I have to say Rogers came across as kind of a douche and definitely the most aloof. He was wearing 2 massive fake diamond earrings while running patterns and when asked the question "What will you do for your 1st NFL game" he answered "I'm going to have my full swag on, girls in the stands, and sportin' the freshest kicks." Now, don't take that as an indictment of the man, but he came across as a guy more interested in the money, fame, status, and lifestyle that comes with playing in the NFL rather than winning games. To his credit, he did get into some football-speak and said he loves beating up DBs. Watch the replay when it's on next and you'll get what I mean, there are definitely issues with the guy that I can see teams running from (no way we take this guy in the Chan era). By contrast, Woods was one cool customer and appeared to have a very football-focused demeanor. I still love the Rogers pick and think it will very interesting to watch how our new coaches handle this guy.
  10. Is it too early to start bashing the guy's game and theorizing what a terrible fit he'd be or should we wait until the door is completely closed?
  11. Well, FWIW, I just read that he passed 10 drug tests at Tenn Tech, so that's encouraging.
  12. The guy is also one tough SOB. I didn't see him play for Tech last year, but I remember watching him at Tenn when Hunter got hurt and he stepped up and carried the load. He was fearless and definitely does not shy away from contact.
  13. He's probably the most talented UDFA WR that I can recall. Hopefully we can straighten this kid out. Very surprised we were able to land him.
  14. @MikeGarafolo: WR Da'Rick Rogers to the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent.
  15. We should trade back in using next year's 7th and pick Tyler Bray as Mr. Irrelevant!
  16. I'd love to know what Da'rick Rogers said at his individual team meetings. Did he show up drunk to all of them? He's far too talented to be there at this point.
  17. Was hoping for Poyer, but we could use a strong kicker that can reach the endzone. Carrying 2 kickers was not a good move last year.
  18. Don't confuse whining with informing and/or mocking.
  19. There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding Byrd. Byrd is franchise tagged for $6.7M. He will be playing for us this year. He has until July 15th to sign his tag. Most likely we will negotiate with him in June after FA and rookie signings. There is a high probability he will holdout, which is the correct move - why would he risk a freak injury in OTAs? Whatever happens, he has to eventually sign and suit up for us for the 2013 season, or he forfeits his entire paycheck and gets nothing. So let me repeat, he will be suited up for us this year, long-term contract or not. Yes I know Pettine has formations that use 3 safeties. Yes I know that we needed one in this draft. No, drafting an UDFA as a 2nd project safety in the 5th round is not a good pick. Please resume cheerleading.
  20. That logic also applies to drafting a punter here. I'm starting to hope they take another safety in the 6th, just to see how people will defend it. Maybe safeties from here on out in fact, because hey, they fit the scheme.
  21. The Koolaid overfloweth in this thread.
  22. This pick is so terrible they didn't even talk about it on NFLN, which is probably better.
  23. Very surprised that Da'rick Rogers is still around. Those off-field and maturity issues must be worse than what the public is hearing.
  24. I'm totally on board the Scott bandwagon at this stage. I think it would be excellent value if he's there in the 5th.
  25. And he's right where he belongs - holding a clipboard for the next 4 years. Thank God we did not take him and I don't have to look at his ugly throws. I even made myself a new avatar just in case we picked this guy, if anyone wants it feel free
