I kinda already explained why. Coaches want trust and stability just like players. It sends the wrong message to the staff and the team to just say “meh we’ll see what happens next year with this guy”. Sounds like a lame duck HC.
I think if you bring him back then it needs to be a clear commitment that he is your guy for the next several years, otherwise you thank him for his hard work and move on.
I bashed this dude hard for being a jag on the field but he’s completely turned things around. Hoping he keeps up his level of play at the most important time.
No, you get rid of him. The team is playing hard but they are probably at their ceiling.
You certainly don’t “give him another year” either. You either commit to him long term or don’t bring him back at all.
Is anyone really going to argue that guys like Jonathan Taylor, Myles Garrett or Quentin Nelson are unworthy because they aren’t playing in the post season?
Are they not the best players at their positions?
