  1. According to ESPN Pettine is one of seven candidates that will/have interview(ed) for the HC position.
  2. I haven't seen anything from Mayock that he graded Manuel as a 1st round talent. Just that Mayock thinks in terms of needs a team might reach for him in the 1st which the Bills did. They are two different things. But yeah lets get back to the Pettine discussion.
  3. Haha, kiper thought the Alonzo pick was a reach too. I remember Kiper saying that about Glenn. My whole argument is the ej pick still lacked value even after the tradedown.
  4. It's because there were posters saying that pundits had Manuel graded in the 1st round....utter nonsense.
  5. A direct quote from kiper after the draft which contradicts your nonsense. "Kiper gave the Bills a "D" for value. Unsurprisingly, quarterback E.J. Manuel was the sticking point. Kiper liked the move to trade down in the first round, but still didn't think Manuel was worth the No. 16 overall pick. The bad is I just think the No. 16 pick was way too high for EJ Manuel. For me, there's simply too much projection here. He needs to prove that he's capable of getting through progressions quicker and getting the ball out. He was my No. 6-ranked QB. But that was a need position, and you take the guy you feel can pan out. It's just remarkable in hindsight to see the top QBs still available into Round 4." Don't let the facts get in your way.
  6. Ahh that's right. Special teams played a critical role in the Browns comeback.
  7. RB is one of the easiest positions to fix in the NFL. You won't see them drafting one in the 1st round.
  8. They are in a win/win. They have the cap space to make large financial commitments to core players if they want or they can trade him.
  9. From what I recall, special teams played a critical role in that comeback.
  10. 10 point lead isn't much. Sounds like a common overreaction.
  11. Even after him getting benched in the playoffs. He was only out there for a handflul of plays.
  12. For sure. Cleveland is in a spot where they don't have to force things, they have a lot of flexibilty going into the draft in what they can do.
  13. Yup. I'm sure there was major overreaction in Cleveland when that happened.
  14. Indeed. If they hit on a QB this draft they will have set themself not for just success but for sustained success.
  15. Mayock never projected him as a 1st round grade...thats false. Your article points to rumours that his stock is rising with some teams that could push him to the 1st round from his 2nd/3rd round projections...thats it. BTW Mayock thought the Manuel pick was very poor value.
  16. I'm sure there are a lot emotions involved in Cleveland...like any losing team. But lets not cloud the facts with what they have setup going into the 2014 season. Yup. Top 10 defense. What are the specifics they are saying since you have read their message board?
  17. You made that (false) claim to me. I'm not digging.
  18. What big cons? I can't really tell you what happens behind the scenes, but in terms of personnel, cap, draft status and setting for the future it's all there. I just have to go on facts I know and the facts are the front office has set themself up for a great opportunity of sustained success.
  19. Can you quote Mayock with grading Manuel in the 1st round. I don't see it anywhere in that quote. And people are calling the browns front office inept when they have an elite defense coupled with the fact a plethora of high picks all at the same time having the 2nd most cap space in the NFL going into 2014. If that is inept and setting yourself up for failure I don't know what is!
  20. The big difference is that the Bills were still drafting a player in the 1st round that was graded as a 3 round pick or worse on some draft boards (Dallas for example) and a known project. Very poor value and still a reach.
  21. Yet in this case it was still a massive reach drafting Manuel in 1st when the concencus grade on him was a 3rd. Very poor value.
  22. That's the luxury of having all those picks. They would have the option to trade down and obtain the appropriate value they see.
  23. The Browns situation is so overblown. The Browns have 5 of the first 83 selections. They don't have to reach at all in the top 8.
  24. How the Browns current front office has set themselves up for 2014 and beyond is most impressive! Now it's a matter of making good personnel moves and they have showed with the likes of the controversial Richardson move that they have the ability to make the correct ones.
