  1. It'll be interesting to see how they break the game up. Does each QB get a quarter? or a couple series?
  2. Wasn't there a big Super Bowl trophy too?
  3. It's a bleacher article, so you are going to have to search it out, but here's some of the good points: @MikeTanier: How to reduce NFL ACL tears by 50-70% withOUT cancelling the preseason: http://t.co/z1SoSh1fa8 "You can reduce risk [of non-contact ACL injuries in the http://bleacherreport.com/nfl] somewhere between 50 and 70 percent," according to Dr. Timothy Hewett, director of biomechanics and sports medicine research at the Mayo Clinic, who has researched knee injuries for over 20 years. These players don't have to take a helmet to the knee to suffer an ACL tear; in fact, Hewett's research indicates that 70 percent of ACL injuries in the NFL, like many of this preseason's high-profile injuries, are not contact-related. Many outstanding athletes jump, land and plant their feet in ways that, combined with their great size and speed, create forces that will inevitably result in injuries. "Here's the good news," Hewett said. "There are things that can be done that have been demonstrated again and again to work in randomized trials. With neuromuscular training, we can reduce those risk factors." But here's the bad news: Not many teams are doing it. "The data is there, but the implementation and compliance is very weak," Hewett said. Some very interesting stuff in there.
  4. I know it's not opposite hash, I'm well aware, thanks. It's an out route in a game setting and it's a perfect throw on a rope, we will have to disagree there. It's putting down TT because it's saying he can't make that throw as good as Manuel to build up a case for Manuel starting. That's putting another player down, to me. To my eyes, TT makes that throw just fine and has more than adequate arm strength. I've seen him throw it quite a few times. The funny thing is I bet if we watched these 2 Qb's throw this opposite hash out 20 times Manuel isn't consistent enough to get it there as many times as TT. And that's the problem with Manuel, consistency and what everyone points to.
  5. I don't get why people have to put down Tyrod to prop up EJ. Here is Tyrod throwing a 20 yard out on a rope. Climbs the pocket and throws the ball before the receiver breaks. It was a perfect throw. And obviously he can make that throw in game settings, so I'm not really sure what your point is.
  6. The video of it is creepy. What posses someone to do that?
  7. He reminds me of fans who call athlete's greedy and say "How could that player turn down $XX million".
  8. I'm still confused why were pointing out who's thrown the most TDs in preseason games, as if that's a precursor to the regular season. Chase Daniels has thrown 3 TDs, in 1 game. Russell Wilson hasn't thrown one yet and either has Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Joe Flacco or Tony Romo. They must all not be as good as EJ.
  9. I find it odd that a ball bounced of a WR's chest and it was a "poor" throw.
  10. Underrated: EJ Manuel Overrated: EJ Manuel BOOM!
  11. I guess the guys have gotten sick of giving throw by throw accounts of practice?
  12. He is a 3rd year player and expectations should be of that.
  13. This one was completely non-contact, don't really think it's preseasons fault this time. He just caught the ball, went to turn up field, and went down. It was non-contact, it could of happened the first week of practice for the regular season.
  14. I think, well IMO, the problem is, why are you or fans surprised? He's playing against fringe NFL players, shouldn't EJ just be expected to play competently? Unless you think EJ is so bad that there is no way he'd look good in any situation. I expect EJ to preform well against the talent he's facing. It's surprise when a player you didn't expect to be any good goes out and plays well. Taylor came out against backups in the Carolina game and led 2 very convincing TD drives. He made it look relatively easy.
  15. Saw the play, didn't look pretty. He got rolled up on. Hopefully it's just a high ankle sprain.
  16. @AdamSchefter: Former Colts WR Reggie Wayne arrived in New England last night and is taking a physical with the Patriots today, per league sources. UPDATE** Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter Reggie Wayne and New England Patriots have reached agreement on a one-year deal, league source told ESPN.
  17. Maybe we can get their OC as well, in a packaged deal?
  18. I think people need to listen to what Romans philosophy on QBs actually is instead of assuming he wants to run with a read-option QB; http://media.wgr550.com/a/108178641/greg-roman-talks-offense-with-howard-and-jeremy.htm?q=greg+roman He will run an offense that maximizes a QBs strengths and hides his weaknesses. He doesn't try jamming a square peg into a round hole. He doesn't run one kind of offense. All he asks for is consistent play for the position.
  19. People need to listen to his WGR interview. He will fit an offense to any QB as long as they are consistent.
  20. Why does it matter what the other QB's were drafted for? They are QBs who replicated and in some ways performed better than Manuel. This thread is about how Manuels performance thus far makes him deserving of a chance with the 1st team offense. Comparing to what other QBs have done in the preseason thus far Manuel is performing as well as some backup QBs. Does that mean he is deserving of times with the 1st team? I don't know. I'm not convinced it does. Unless you are saying because he performed as well as some of the backups in the league and he was drafted to be a franchise QB, that should get him reps.
  21. I don't think he should be held to a higher standard either. I wasn't saying that. I was saying shouldn't we be expecting what he's done this far as normal seeing as who his competition has been against. I wasn't comparing him to Taylor or Cassel.
  22. Look, there is nothing I would enjoy more, than to see EJ Manuel succeed. I've always been and still am a big fan of his but to use his success in preseason as proof that he is ready to be a starter is fools gold. What he has done thus far should be expected of a QB of his caliber considering where he was selected. Is it good that he's improving? I guess, it's hard to tell considering who he's playing against. Shouldn't we be holding him to a higher standard? What he has done had been replicated by QBs many times this preseason. Heck, Joe Webb led a game winning TD against the Bills very own defense. Matt McGloin looked solid in his first preseason outing. Chase Daniel led THREE touchdown drives in his mop up duty. Isn't that what we should expect from Manuel? And I know Manuel hasn't had the best players in front of him but Joe Webb, Matt McGloin and Chase Daniels didn't either. Just last night even Bryce Petty looked like a competent QB. There isn't some media conspiracy against Manuel. The reason the media scoffs at it is he is doing it against guys who won't be in the league. Yea he's had 2 good drives that resulted in TDs. Yes he looks more decisive and has had some better throws. Shouldn't our expectations for Manuel be a bit higher? As far as the Russell Wilson comment, cmon really? Why the need bash Taylor to make Manuel look good? I'm pretty sure Wilson has led the most comeback victories in his 4 years in the league.
