Watkins absent for start of voluntary workouts
Wayne Cubed replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea but that was Sunday and he was at Harrahs Cherokee in North Carolina. Honestly, I don't care, it's voluntary. There are loads of limitations on what they can do while there so it's basically a conditioning program. They can't even talk to the coaches on the field. -

I saw that, ha ha. "Big money, did about 9 grand" https://www.instagram.com/p/BEYZb0Ro20R/?taken-by=sammywatkins&hl=en I'm pretty sure it's safe to say, if he was up all night at the casino, he won't be at practice today. -
Texans release Brian Hoyer; signs with Bears

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Free agent QB Brian Hoyer is visiting the #Jets today, source said... As long as the Houston weather cooperates -
It started in 2013. The NFL found that with switching helmets there was greater chance for injury. The safety committee recommended not doing it anymore. That's why you don't see teams like Denver or Tampa Bay doing their throwback anymore because it would require a different helmet. Teams just don't want to put the time involved into spraying a helmet and then respraying it.
-
I don't think a lot of teams would do it. They don't even respray the white during the year. If you look at the helmets at the end of the year they are really marked up. And it's just another logistical thing you don't want to have to figure out because after the game you'd have to spray them back white... Does that take 2 coats? Who knows. It's why you don't see teams do their throwbacks anymore if the helmet colour changes.

What a weird concept for picking games. Rodak picks who he thinks is going to win then asks another of the NFL Nation reporters to pick who he thinks would win on a single game. Somehow the Bills don't get a win until week 6.

Titans Trade #1 Overall Pick to the Rams
Wayne Cubed replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to quibble too much but I'd probably put them around 10-11 last year, certainly not as low as "total yardage" suggests. They finished 11th in % of drives ending in scores, 11th in avg. yards per drive and 7th in points per drive. I like those stats a little more. Interestingly the Bills, for as bad as they seemed, finished 13th, 12th and 19th respectively. -

Cmon man, it's totally 3 picks. Gave up the 15th pick and their pick next year PLUS the pick to select the player. -

But they are getting loads of press. Really helps Kronke market the team in LA. And I know people say this will "set the Rams back for years" but really it won't. At most, I think it "sets them back" 2 years. They have 2 years to figure out if whoever they pick for QB is the guy, if they don't think he is and he is really bad, they'll have a 1st round pick in 2018 and could be selecting near the top of the draft. Or maybe they also select a developmental QB in back end of the draft? Don't get me wrong, I don't think this is the draft to move up for a QB but I don't think it's as damaging for them as some believe. -

Yea, I definitely don't think this is the year to pull of that deal. For them though, it's huge in terms of marketing for their "new" market. They'll get a face of the franchise and they get the pick of the litter. -

I guess the argument is that with being the first to select, they get their pick and don't have to wait for the scraps. -
I think Bills are planning a move up in the draft
Wayne Cubed replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no way Cleveland goes for that. They would be getting absolutely nothing and moving down 30 spots, Denver's pick is 31. -

Cleveland believes in RGIII? Huh? People in Cleveland would officially give up on the Browns if they did that. In position to select a QB of their choice and they trade out of that spot? Hahaha what a ridiculous rumour. Denver doesn't believe in Brock Osweiler but will piss away draft picks for Tyrod Taylor? EDIT: that website is hilarious. -

I definitely agree with that. -
A.J. Tarpley retires due to concussions
Wayne Cubed replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talk to Rugby players about getting concussions. They are supposedly taught how to tackle properly and they still get quite a few concussions. With tackle anything you can't control someones arm, leg or foot or something else from randomly connecting to the head. Look at the article by Tarpley, even he said his 4th concussion was caused by his own teammate who got knocked into him. -
Helping someone with Depression
Wayne Cubed replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yea just be careful with that, I kept getting reminded of the fact that I wasn't able to be there on one occasion. And then it was thrown back in my face when she would get down on herself. -
Helping someone with Depression
Wayne Cubed replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Having been in a relationship with someone who is/was severely depressed setting the expectation that you are always there can backfire a bit? It's not realistically possible to always be there for them. Things come up, you may be away, not near your phone, you can't drive to see them, etc. If you don't deliver on your promise this can drive the depressed person further into depression by thinking you aren't there for them and have let them down. And it's important that you keep yourself mentally stable because some depressed people can drag you into there feelings. You can say that if there is anything they need you will do the best you can to help. Say that you are there for them, in my experience I would just avoid the word always. Encourage them. Say that you believe in them. In the end they need to feel like they have your support but you aren't there to fix everything for them. I'd say these things are important when dealing with someone who's depressed: 1. Set boundaries. This is important for your own mental health because it's very easy to get overwhelmed when dealing with someone who is depressed and who you care about. 2. Be encouraging. Tell them you believe in them. 3. It's ok to get frustrated because it will be frustrating. 4. Don't tell them to cheer up. 5. The most important thing. Just listen to them. I think that's it although I'm not professional, just from my experience. Really encourage them to seek help and cognitive/behavioral therapy as that seems to help the most. -
I think this is probably Lawson last year. I think Fackrell is a nice replacement.

Report: 49ers want to trade RT Anthony Davis
Wayne Cubed replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's probably right. I feel like he would have to rework his deal though because he's taken a year off. Has he lost a step? Who knows but I don't think he can expect to just pick up where he left off and continue to make that same money. I know he has the contract but I feel like some teams would want some insurance and less guaranteed money. -
Agree to disagree than. Lawson may have elite top-speed but his reaction and explosion of the ball is not. He leans on defenders too much as well and is quick to engage an offensive tackle and not pay attention with whats going on with the play. He's also not very flexible and relies more on a bull rush than any sort of athletic pass rush. He very rarely won against a tackle coming around the corner either.... there's that explosion. Look, his combine numbers look fast but the tape doesn't lie, he just wasn't as quick off the snap. His hand technique isn't great either and he needs to work on that. Whats concerning about all of that, is a lot of it can be fixed but this is a guy who has known to loaf it and take some plays off. Does that seem like a guy who will really want to work on it in the NFL? We will soon find out. There are questions with both of these players with their immediate rise in 2015 but I just happen to like Dodd's size and length. He needs some work, so does Lawson but on the field he has a very high motor and doesn't give up on plays. I think the work ethic is there for Dodd. EDIT: I still think Lawson goes before Dodd but I like Dodd as a prospect more and I think he goes 1st round.
