  1. I've been a scout (college) and coach (high school), I know how to look at film. What your missing is that your QB is expected to make the right reads to help get the ball out faster when the protection breaks down. What you see from EJ is that he hasn't yet gotten comfortable enough to put his offense into situations to reduce the need for more time. The best way to explain it is to look at Fitz -- if nothing else, Fitz was able to read and react and get the ball out and make up for the offensive line. Good QB's do that -- study Brees, Brady and Manning, they are all masters at it. You can't expect your O Line to always give you a clean pocket
  2. Winning solves everything, but what happens when you don't win ? You get a new HC !
  3. Goodwin should be use to BOOS the way the Longhorns played his senior year --- I'm actually feeling sorry for the guy getting beat up on twitter -- he's young and will learn in time
  4. That cheering you here is Brown nation licking their chops at the prospect of our 1st round pick next year. Say it isn't so !!!
  5. The Bills put too much faith in Fitzpatrick back when Nix was GM and failed to draft QB for a few years. Then, they realized that Fitz wasn't the answer and they were stuck having to draft a QB in a bad QB draft. So, they took EJ. I was okay with that because it was slim pickings. EJ plays a year, gets hurt 3 different times and is inconsistent and at best still a huge question mark. This is where I have a BIG PROBLEM. Every objective analyst at this point believes EJ is still a huge question mark and this FO decides to go all in on EJ and mortgage the future to get a WR with huge upside. I like Watkins, but trading away next year's 1st was insane. Trade a couple of 2nd's to allow yourself a Plan B. In addition, why not sign Vick or another vet as an insurance policy just in case EJ doesn't get better this year. Again, I lay ALL of this specific problem at the feet of the current FO Brandon-Whaley and Marrone (and Nix) Kirby -- where am I wrong ?
  6. EJ played poorly in the first half. He played poorly, accept it. The line was bad, I'll give you that, but so was EJ, even when he had time. Watch his throws, watch his reads and watch his decision making, it was awful. I'd love to think a light bulb went on at halftime, but, it was against the 2nd string, so I don't put much faith in it. He looked good against the 2nd team, but we don't play against the 2nd team.
  7. Sorry, I re-watched EVERY offensive play the Bills ran with EJ. I could care less about Dixon, Tuel and the defense at this point. We have a QB problem, WAKE UP !!
  8. After the draft I had their win range this year somewhere between 7 and 11 wins --- I've now lowered that to between 3 and 6 wins. I've seen no improvement from EJ and we are 4 pre-season games in, worse, I thought O Line would be better and they actually look worse. You can't utilize the weapons without a QB and Line. Ugly.
  9. Take a look at what Pats, Broncos, Seahawks did this past weekend -- no team gives up their secrets in pre-season, but good teams execute basic plays and get in sync in pre-season --- you especially want to see that in a team that is suppose to be on the upswing
  10. Re-watch the game, I just did and EJ was bad when he was under pressure and just as bad when he wasn't. He didn't look good until he went against the 2nd stringers. Folks, we have a QB problem AND a O-Line problem !!
  11. Call it "tipping point". After 14 years, I think a change is needed. With respect specifically to tonight, 1- it's clearer that EJ is not the QB of the future. By all accounts, EJ was an "organizational" pick and that includes Brandon. In addition, Brandon went "all in" with EJ at the draft and gave away 2 first round picks to get him a WR. So, if EJ isn't the guy, we are screwed. 2-Brandon hired this coaching staff, and right now on the offensive side of the ball, they look hopeless. In addition (not about tonight)things he has done that I don't like 1- The Toronto series 2- Tenure as GM 3- Cap management (under spending or too much dead money) See my list, tell me where I'm wrong ? You cant' change the culture by continuing with the same CEO and rotating HC's, OC's, DC's and QB's. At some point, the CEO has do go. BTW, I hate the way Brandon has run this organization and I don't have any trust or faith in him to make changes to fix this team. I've seen enough over the past 14 years and yes, over the past 20 months to know it ain't getting any better
  12. The starters might as well play on Thursday since they didn't play today !
  13. 2nd stringers. Our 1st vs. their 1st was pathetic and that's being kind. It was a QB problem and an O-Line problem.
  14. After tonight's game, I hope fans start to seriously question why Brandon is still with this organization. I don't want to hear that he has nothing to do with football decisions, that's complete BS. This team desperately needs a culture change or should I say culture SHOCK
  15. @mikerodak: GM Doug Whaley just called OC Nate Hackett from tunnel. Whaley meeting with Russ Brandon, Marrone at entrance to locker room. With any luck, Pegula just bought the team and fired all of their sorry asses after that debacle
  16. Not sure what to believe on the initial non-binding bids anymore, Kryk has been most reliable, if he's right, Pegula v. Golisano with an early knockout for Pegs in round 3, right around September 13th.
  17. Think about it, Dennis Dixon 2 Super Bowl rings. Jim Kelly zero. Something ain't right.
  18. So, this happened in March and not a peep of this prior to the draft ? Odd. And why was Evans in Tampa in March. Something isn't adding up.
  19. I think Golisano wants to own Bills, I just don't think he wants to own them at any cost. I think Pegula wants to own them at any cost. I think it's a difference in philosophy and TG not mixing business and emotion, whereas Pegs will. I prefer Pegs, because, I think he would spend to win, i.e. facilities, coaches, players etc., whereas TG might be more "responsible".
  20. I also think, in general, it's hard to trade guys unless team's feel they'd have no chance to get him off waivers -- with Grahamn, if I were another team, I'd roll dice that'd he'd go unclaimed -- now, Branch might have trade value as team's might feel he just fell out of favor
  21. That's exactly my issue with the trade. It was a trade for Sammy, but it was a trade based on confidence in EJ, as much as Sammy might be worth it talent wise, I'm not sure the trade makes sense unless you have a true franchise QB. When Atlanta traded for Julio, they knew Ryan was a legit franchise guy. I would be more comfortable with the trade if we knew same about EJ.
