  1. Obviously none of us should care what he says as long as he wins. Obviously the press like a HC that can talk and obviously he'll get better in time.
  2. Sounds like a whole of this is starting to happen at TBD with this FO
  3. Downtown Buffalo is the only locale that can provide an abundance of ancillary revenue opportunities. NF while intriguing has way too many infrastructure issues to solve and in the end, that community needs a different type of investment to succeed.
  4. ^ My biggest issue of the list I posted is losing next year's 1st -- if EJ fails, we are really stuck without having a chance for a top QB in 2015 draft
  5. I think Marrone is asking Whaley, "where's our plan B at QB ?" Whaley turns to Brandon, "I think Russ is working on it" Russ turns to both of them "I'm not involved in player personnel issues, just ask Kirby and Bandit"
  6. Or getting back the 3 hours I spent watching the last preseason game and the hour rewatching all of EJ's throws.
  7. Whew, I was away for a few hours, saw the 5 pages of new posts and thought I missed something. Good to get here and find out Pegula can still own both the Sabres and Bills. I guess I'll never get those 10 minutes back.
  8. Yungmack: I am surprised how they are handling the QB positioned, actually shocked and disappointed. QB is by far the most important position in team sports. Not having a Plan B, is not akin to showing up for Thanksgiving and finding turkey and cranberries. That analogy would make sense if we had a proven QB. EJ is still a huge risk. Not having a Plan B is more akin to not having backup systems on a jetliner. I was happy last preseason when they went to camp with a competent veteran QB to compete or backup EJ
  9. I thought they would have learned their lesson after Nix ignored the position while he was GM. We just have to hope EJ works out and improves.
  10. The issue isn't what's available now, the issue is why did this FO put us into this situation in the first place. No Plan B !!!! 1- They could have drafted a QB in middle rounds as a backup and contingency (Savage, McCarron and/or Mettenberger) 2- They could have signed a vet backup and have them push EJ and compete (Vick, McCown) 3- They could have made a trade (Cousins, Hoyer) 4- They could have kept their 1st round pick in 2015, just in case EJ isn't the guy Good organizations contingency plan. This one isn't good and didn't. All eggs are still in the EJ basket. If he isn't the guy, we are screwed this year and most likely next year. Let's all hope EJ is good, because for this FO, HOPE IS A PLAN
  11. ^That's the issue when you don't have a Plan B, when **** doesn't go right, you have few options. It sucks.
  12. I don't doubt that Palmer will be a good on-field peer coach for EJ, but is anyone else worried this kid (EJ) has too many people in his ear telling him what to do, how to do it etc. etc. ??
  13. I guess the Bills did have a Plan B ...... OUCH ! This preseason reminds me of 2009 and the Turk Schonert-Alex Van Pelt fiasco.
  14. Nix never really addressed the QB position until he had a foot out the door. He'll forever be remembered for passing on Russell Wilson in favor of TJ Graham and for thinking Fitz was the answer. PTR: I know you know this, but it's impossible as fans to simply ignore the past 14 years of ineptitude. Whaley and Brandon are selling this season as a playoff team, they are setting up high expectations. They are telling us that EJ is the answer, in words and actions. They traded for Sammy and mortgaged the future, signed an LG and drafted 3 O Lineman. So, when fans go to the game and watch the O Line and EJ fall apart, what do you expect them to do, stand on their feet and give them a standing ovation ? Patience ? Both Harbaugh's, Payton, Tomlin, Kelly (to name several), all won (made playoffs)their 1st years with their respective teams; I think Bills fans are too patient, I don't think we have high enough expectations and we certainly don't hold the executives of this team accountable for the performance on the field.
  15. I have to confess, I looked it up on Google
  16. I got one, "we don't have so much a QB problem as a front office problem" but let's keep blaming the players, the coordinators, the head coaches and the GM's
  17. All I heard in the off-season was Whaley praising Thad Lewis, every time he was asked I had to hear that stupid John Butler quote, "John Butler used to say, all you want is your backup QB to go .500, well, last year Thad went 2-3, so, we are good". They should have signed a vet (Vick) and they shouldn't have traded their 2015 1st round pick. It's called contingency planning. Not rocket science.
  18. That's a trick question, without gravity, EJ wouldn't be any better off because the defense wouldn't have gravity either, so, neither more or less effective, the same.
  19. That's a different argument. I was simply trying to illustrate that dead money does impact a team's ability to resign players. Why the Bills aren't extending and restructuring players, I don't know.
  20. I thought you could extend a player's contract and impact a current year's cap -- if you can't do that, you certainly can restructure contracts and move money into current year -- For example (for illustration purposes only), instead of Mario making base salaries of $2M-$12M-$12M-$12M over the 2014-2015-2016 and 2017 seasons -- you could restructure and pay him $20M-$6M-$6M-$6M --- so, you use up this year's cap to make future year's smaller --- When you do that, you would have needed that dead money to not exist in order to spend it on the restructured contract(s).
  21. Bills will have to have some serious cap discussion regarding their D-line over the next off-season. Hughes-Dareus-Williams-Williams are already around $34M/year -- I can't see them keeping that group together for under $40M/year. Why couldn't they have restructured Mario and Kyle this year and moved $8M or so into 2014 and given themselves another $4M/year to play with in 2015 and 2016 ?
  22. Yes, absolutely, if they manage the cap in way that allows them to resign their core players and add FA's, I will praise them. However, I will praise them a lot more if they win more games. BTW, I think Hughes is also eligible to be extended along with Dareus, so they could have used some of that dead money for those guys, right ?
