I don't necessarily disagree but here's what scares me. Even first round QBs only have maybe a 50-50 probability of becoming franchise QBs. The odds for QBs - as all positions - fall as you go deeper in the draft. Normally, your best starters are found in the first 3 rounds. We'll take a QB with one of those picks and more than likely pick the wrong one. So one of our top 3 picks will be wasted, leaving us with only two solid (hopefully) picks in the first three rounds. We have more than 2 needs to fill in the draft and the later picks just aren't likely to give us much.

I get where you're coming from, but completing less than a quarter of his 15+ yard passes is scary.

We already got better on D by firing Wanny and hiring Pettine.

At #8, we ought to find a future HOFer or near HOFer. I'd rather get a HOF guard than swing and miss at a QB. I'd rather go with probabilities than position.

Good article for me because I didn't watch a lot of games after seeing the first five. Losing is painful to watch so I started spending most Fall Sundays with the family instead of glued to the TV in anguish. Nice to know Gilmore came on like that.

If I was a NFL QB, I'd rather have two short, fast, sneaky WRs who got open than tall WRs who I could 'throw open.' I get why people say we need a big WR who can go get the ball but if we focus on that, we end up picking guys like James Hardy and passing over guys like DeSean Jackson.

Yeah, I agree. What did we get for Lynch? A 4th or 5th rounder? At his age, Freddy would bring even less. And there aren't many 7th rounders who would mean as much to this club as Freddy does.

Forgetting about Walker and the AFC Blog... 3 million guaranteed for Kolb this year plus another 2.5 mil for TJax... Given the possibility of success each of them brings (both at times seemed to flash potential of being better than their historical numbers), the relatively low cost of these guys is a reasonable expense. We can't depend on the draft to produce our starter. If Kolb earns the starting job and is actually productive, he'll make more than the base of 3 mill and that won't be a bad thing. This is a bad year to need a QB. I think OBD did about the best they could do so far. Now let's see who they draft.

I saw on the Howard University Athletics Facebook site that someone posted something like "We need to stop using the Buffalo Bills logo" but that doesn't prove anything either. I couldn't find a Howard Charging Bison photo prior to 2002 but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I suppose there's the possibility that Howard U and Stevens Wright both independently came up with similar logos. But they are so similar, that would be hard to believe. So for now I believe Ralph purchased a design that originated from the hand of Stevens Wright. What Wright's inspiration was, we may never know. Sorry Beerball.

I always thought Sonny Sixkiller was a great name for a QB. Naturally, he wore #6.

As far as I can find on the internet, they've been using it only since 2002. Before that was an entirely different logo - though still a bison. If Ralph stole the logo from Howard, then shame on Ralph. But I can't see any evidence of that and am inclined to believe the family in California that says their dad designed the logo for Buffalo.

I think it was '75 when the Fergy/OJ offense was really rolling. Averaged 30 points per game that season. Compares well with the Super Bowl Bills offenses.

According to different sources, Howard adopted the charging bison logo only in 2002. Before that, according to a fan comment on another site: "They used to have a great logo, which was a blue buffalo head dressed in cavalry gear." Then Howard, already nicknamed the Bisons, decided to copy the design to update their old logo.

I'll let someone else look up the stats but here's my recollection. At first, I viewed him as a good caretaker QB who was eminently qualified to hand the ball to OJ. But as Fergy's skills matured over the years, he became an above-average QB who could win a game or two with his arm.

If Kolb is made of glass, TJax will come in and we'll be no worse than when Fitz was here. This is assuming we keep 3 QBs (Kolb, Jackson, Rookie). I'm not expecting miracles from Kolb - Philly and Arizona expected great things from him only to be disappointed. But I am happier with our QBs this year than last. Fitz doomed us to mediocrity. At least now there's some hope.

I think this is good, not bad for Buffalo. Only one university in the state will be named for the state - New York University. And it won't be in New York City or anywhere else. It will be in Buffalo. Seems to me like a coup for Buffalo.

I'm feeling a lot better about our QB situation than I did when we cut Fitz and had zero QBs on the roster! Jackson's stat line isn't great but some people say he was much better in Seattle than in Minnesota but was hurt much of the season. The implication is that if he's healthy, we'll see a different Jackson that the one who was so profoundly mediocre for the Vikes. And Andy Reid and the Eagles at one time seemed to think Kolb would be their new franchise QB of the future. They traded McNabb away to give the starting job to Kolb. Between the two of them, it seems a fair bet that one of them will finally live up to their potential. Then you add a rookie to the mix and I think the Bills are better at QB than we were last year. Or, at least, we have the potential to be better. We saw enough of Fitz to know clearly what his strengths and limitations were. I prefer the unknown of Kolb, TJax and a future rookie to the known of Fitz.

I read somewhere that Kiper gets the first 16 picks right about 46% of the time. So there's less than a coin flip's chance he's right about this pick. His accuracy drops dramatically after the 1st half of the 1st round.

Just out of curiosity, why did anyone vote for Corp? Given his unspectacular college career, it's hard to imagine Aaron beating out Kolb, Jackson, and a drafted rookie. Maybe somebody sees or knows something the rest of us don't. Or maybe somebody's just being contrary. Personally, I think Jackson will give Kolb a run for his money but Kolb will prevail in the end - if he stays healthy. Though I wouldn't be completely shocked, given what happened last year in the NFL, if Marrone gambled with a rookie under center.

That's a harder question. First of all, Kolb seems to be fragile. Secondly, the Bills will draft a rookie. If they draft the right one, he'll be our eventual starter.
