  1. Even if he weren't a piece of garbage I still wouldn't want him. He's not the future and if Taylor goes down I'd rather see what Jones can do. If he's that much of a downgrade from Kaepernick it's best that we learn that as it will tell us a lot about our QB situation as well as the guy making the picks.
  2. That's really not it. He violated separation of stadium and state. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/440082/sports-politics-dont-ruin-former-latter

  4. A lot of good points here. I only went with hour long dramas with continuous storylines, but if I were to include 30 minute shows South Park would be near the top of the list. Dexter didn't make my list despite season 1 & 2 rivaling any show I've seen. But the fall off, particularly in the last two seasons, took it off the list. Similarly, Sons of Anarchy had its moments, but the fall off as well as the extent to which it relied on "torture porn" kept it out of the top tier for me. The Sopranos gets a lot of credit for blazing the trail, and it was a good show, but having watched the full series for the first time last year I didn't think it lived up to the hype.
  5. The only rule of PPP is there are no rules.
  6. I'm not suggesting that this one study is the ultimate authority on the issue, but it's the most objective and thorough work I've seen on the topic. Moreover, it brings empirical evidence to a conversation that has been dominated by anecdotes and conjecture. And if it weren't for this issue we wouldn't be having this discussion so I think it's fitting for this thread.
  7. I'm looking to study US history, primarily but not exclusively the run up to the civil war. I want to get some older textbooks that pre-date PC culture, as well as other resources. What do you recommend?
  8. It shows that per police encounter the likelihood of police using lethal force against minorities is slightly lower than that for whites.

  10. Not sure. Something was lost in transit because the original reads clean.

  12. I'm not implying anything. I'm directly stating that the narrative of police sport shooting blacks across the country is an absolute falsehood. Further, the police forces involved are locally run. I'm sure some are better or worse than others in this regard, but assuming a few anecdotes from a few local police departments is conclusive evidence of a nationwide systemic epidemic of abuse and execution of minorities by police is patently absurd. And the facts don't support this narrative. It's interesting that those perpetuating the narrative carry on undeterred by the lack of empirical evidence to support their position.
  13. That's a bunch of ****. He clearly does not love America, unless he loves a country that's defining characteristics are racism and oppression. People that enflame divisions by spreading misinformation of this type are the real problem. His whole narrative is based on a lie and he's too lazy or unwilling to research the counterpoont to his issue before going public with it.
  14. Problem is he stood up (or rather kneeled down) with the angry racists.
  15. We got most of their best posters, there just weren't that many good ones to begin with. It was basically a fanboy echo chamber that was heavy on opinion and light on analysis. I will say, there are a few decent posters who made the pilgrimage.
  16. I didn't realize Taylor was playing defense in that game.
  17. It's easy to make an argument look silly when you oversimplify and mischaracterize it.
  18. His "protest" was !@#$ing stupid. If he felt this strongly about it you would think he'd have taken the time to educate himself before drawing national attention to his cause. And his assertion that the US is a racist and oppressive country is both ignorant and offensive. And then polluting NFL Sundays with his vaccuous crap made it all the worse. He's a POS and quite frankly so are his fans.
  19. As far as production to draft pick value Maybin's about as bad as it gets. But if we're judging based on the overall detriment to the franchise I'd say it's a toss up between Losman and EJ Manwell; not because of the loss of picks but because the investment in each of them caused us to forego better options that in each case set the franchise back years.
  20. I think Joe Spaghetti pussed out.
  21. 1. The Shield 2. The Wire 3. Lost 4. Breaking Bad 5. 24
  22. I'm disappointed by the anti-Rex sentiment here. He was a bad fit for our personnel but I can't fault him for taking the gig. I wish him nothing but the best.
  23. I'll take con, but I won't be starting til tomorrow.
  24. I think it was actually 3rd inning. That guy was an ass hole. He was always picking on gatorboy.
