What about reports that Trent has a 50/50 chance of starting?? Sounds to me like its going to be a cut throat camp+preseason. No I'm not a Trent fanboy or anything. We're going ot be running a 4-3 / 3-4 hybrid. Also if we don't get that prototypical NT i think we're going to plug marcus stroud in there and keep our fingers crossed. From all of CG's interviews, I get the feeling that they haven't really gotten around to appraising everyone on this roster yet. Don't think there was enough time. They are now concentrating on what they can get through the FA and appraising the talent on the draft. They have an idea of what they want and the direction they want to go in, hence those 7 cuts (failed physicals didn't help). Sounds to me like they will bring in guys based on immediate needs and then let everyone fight it out for starting positions come preseason and hope everything falls into place.

+1 At this point I think we def need RUN blocking OLB. Don't trust maybin with run blocking just yet.

I like the way you have approached this. However, do you honestly think we can draft game changing guys at LT,RT,NT,LB and QB who can walk into the lineup and make a difference? And we will be depending on veterans transitioning from 4-3 to 3-4. That is what worries me. Also what about OLB with run blocking abilities? We desperately need some o' those!

I like your D - line up. Who do you suggest by way of depth at those positions [ esp NT]?

Also when I say "somehow" to bring ins LB's, I mean any way but offering draft picks. Considering our many needs, I personally don't think we can afford to give draft picks away.

I don't have an opinion on him. I haven't seen him play. I'd rather get informative opinion from people who have.

The thing is we have soo many requirements. Our major holes were offensive i.e Dire need for a franchise QB, stud tackles at RT and LT with decent depth considering our history of injuries. Now we're changing our D and will need different personnel to fit the scheme from Nose tackles + depth to fleet footed OLB. Obviously I defer to Gailey and Nix to find ways to fill all these spots with guys who will come in and perform straight away. But I cant help but think that we're trying to bring in too many changes too soon considering our requirements. Can we really draft in guys at all those positions who will come in and turn this team around?? Can we really draft difference makers at all these positions???? I'm not as knowledgeable football wise as a lot of the other guys on this forum, but I think that the prudent think might be to use our picks to fill our needs offensively first. Stick to the 4-3 this year. And draft the guys to run the 3-4 next year. Drafting too many guys just because we're creating soo many holes might end up diluting the quality of the end product. Just my $0.02 though.

I think we def need more 3-4 type LB's but I doubt we will draft any in the early rounds. Im hoping we bring in Joey Porter somehow. We have gaping holes at OT and NT. we definitely have to address those requirements first IMO.
