I was pissed when we took Allen over Rosen. I fluctuated wildly on whether I liked or disliked Allen all offseason, changing my mind any given week. I was convinced Rosen would be good. I am now happy we have Allen and really think he might be something special.

When Josh Allen was announced, with my hopes for Josh Rosen, I dropped an F bomb in front of my family. I never swear with that crowd. I am now a big Josh Allen fan and enjoy being teased by my family for being so wrong. I believe we Bills fans have an increasingly bright future.

If the Jets dump Todd Bowles and hire SB winning and former Packers coach Mike McCarthy the Bills seriously need to consider replacing Sean McDermott at the end of this season.

    McCarthy/Darnold > McDermott/Allen.

I love reading this board. It feeds my Bills habit on a daily basis. However, idiocy is sometimes difficult to tolerate. This is one of the dumbest posts I have seen.

  3. I actually feel there is no defense of Hughes for his behavior after last week's game. I don't care if someone called you a naughty name. Chasing an official, or any humanbeing, screaming and threatening irrationally, is inexcusable. Typical, entitled and arrogant athlete. Jerry is a great, hardworking player. I love what he brings to the Bills. But, he really needs to grow the hell up.

Because you know, you can’t just easily buy that stuff in the Caribbean. Can’t fix stupidity.

While I agree with the sentiment of the post and ridiculing the Patsies is always fun, is anyone going to acknowledge that Costa Rica is in Central America and not The Carribean?

Watkins for Gaines and 2nd = Gaines hurt all year, something new each week.  We were 8-4 with Gaines? he brings a lot lets us mask what were doing. Yep needs to be more reliable but in a trade with Mr Unreliable he was better than Ronald Darby- resign him.

Darby for Matthews and 3rd = Matthews didn't even finish season from previous injuries. As stated above covering for Darby Gaines was a better replacement. Matthews had multiple injuries and really needs a passing quarterback to see his value. If we sign an actual passing quarterback (Cousins) I'd resign Matthews but his career took a shot with Tyrod.

Wood 2 year extension = Wood retirement before contract even kicked in Leadership plays a role but shouldn't be above production. I'm very sorry his career ended before he was ready. His play has slipped the last 2 years and I thought they might move on but hes an average center and a good leader so I was okay with it.

Seymour for Clay = Both players ended up contributing for Carolina Clay had 50 yds all year- stop it!.....Seymour played special teams but he's the 4th corner

Ragland for 4th = Ragland starting LB in KC Ragland fits their defense but lets take a breath and remember their defense stinks!

Dareus for 5th = Dareus looking great for Jacksonville while we left with dead money Option two is we have the dead money and the dead body had to get out from under it. He's a good little player as a back up on a loaded defense

Signed Rod Streater = Didn't play a snap this year Are you supposed to know who gets hurt, how and how long they will be out before they get on the field?

Signed Boldin = Didn't play a snap this year could have been a good signing as a teacher for young wide outs, thought he was too good for a bad team. These are grown ass men- took a man at his word - he lied that is not on the Bills

Traded a 3rd for Benjamin = Benjamin getting hurt 2nd game here (knees were questioned as soon as trade went down, have always been an issue for him).Your not going to get a Benjamin talent in the third round. Blew his ACL in 2015 knees havent always been a concern his hamstrings have been a little problem. This is a good signing again provided you add an actual NFL passer.

This team added picks while making the playoffs. Kudos to everyone involved

who missed Dareus? Who missed Watkins ? I'll stop there I didn't miss any of them- never thought about them

Well done. I couldn't have said it better.

  7. I am not against the idea of committing to Tyrod.

His improvement opportunities are undeniable and this board certainly calls them out loudly. I worry, however, that he is deemed by many to be "inadequate" in comparison to Rodgers and Brady. That is just silly. I agree that he is not going to the Hall of Fame.

He has proven that we can win with him. He has proven that he can win with weak supporting casts. He has proven to be mentally and emotionally strong. He is an excellent leader. He has unique tools for the position and we have benefitted from his performance.  He is one of the reasons we are in the playoffs.

If we can do better, great. I guarantee you that we can do a lot worse. Please don't lose sight of that.

    Don,

you've admitted you're not part of the Bills. Stop saying we. Unless you clarify the we part are the voices in your head.

Other than my season tickets, I have no connection with the Bills...no insider knowledge, no friendships with employees, nothing. However, I have been a fan since 1970 and feel plenty empowered to use the word "we" when discussing "my" Buffalo Bills. Just my view on it.

FWIW, I believe WE are going to roll the Dolphins tomorrow.

If TSW wants a joke thread on the main board so be it.

My credibility isn’t the one in question.

Given all the hateful negativity this board regularly spews out, I do not understand your problem with DD. This conversation, while possibly (probably) fictional, is so much more enjoyable than "TT sucks!", "Vlad sucks!", "Fire Rico!", "McBeane gave the house away!". If you don't like it, just don't click...please.

  10. Honestly, this is fun reading. It beats the hell out of posters who think they're smart by constantly running players ("TT has a boo boo on his knee") down. Also, DD, when you speak of contingency planning, I understand and respect the logic of uncertainty. For fandom entertainment, I look forward to these posts.

Nah. Not attacks. Two guys sharing their opinion on a thread. I don’t see anyone calling him names or posting threats.

Sounds like you’re a sensitive one as well.

Of course they are attacks - snarky, obnoxious comments from internet tough guys. They are the sort of responses that drag down the enjoyability of this forum. BTW - informed or not, DD's post make for fun reading and interesting thoughts. If that is "hot garbage", please pour me a bowl.

I think Flutie may be the most overrated QB in our history. He did very little, but represent himself well. I would drop him from this list and put Frank Reich at #5. While just a back up, he had performances that changed our history.

The Ringer: The NFL’s Head-Coaching Carousel Is a Crisis

...Even if the coach is good (and McDermott was doing a nice job before the Peterman-Taylor decision), the previous stops and starts of the organization make it nearly impossible for them to ever succeed....

This statement is so meritless and negative that I burst out laughing when I read it. Mularkey, Donohoe, Gailey and Nix have zero impact on the Bills' future opportunity for success. Whaley's work (good or bad) is being erased quickly. There is nothing about what has happened over the past 18 years that will affect the Bills in 2020.

I hope Beane and McDermott are of the quality we've been wishing for. Unlike your quote however, I am humble enough to to know that I cannot see the future.

  14. I like every move Beane and McDermott have made thus far. Their focus on team, professionalism and performance makes it easy for me to be excited about our future. It's been too long since we have had true competence in leadership. Given that, I have to point out that Beane has not yet accomplished anything meriting superlatives or condemnation. Ridding the team of poor attitudes and disappointments is a good use of hindsight in appraisal. I applaud it. The next step however, is enormous - as is the pressure on our GM and head coach.

With our expanded cap space and bushel basket of accumulated drafts picks, Beane and McDermott will appraise talent using forward thinking and projection. This is where they can achieve excellence or mediocrity. I don't mean this as a negative. However, little has been (other than beginning 4-2, which is very nice) accomplished yet.

The stage has been set for one of the most meaningful and exciting off-seasons in Bills history. I truly hope (and am optimistic) that our new GM and head coach are up to the task.

  15. The decisions that were made this off season so far are the best that I can remember in a very long time. The beauty of it all is not just the on the field immediate impact that have been provided by Gaines, Matthews, poyer, Hyde, white, Dawkins, Thornton and Hauschka but also removing a couple players who were not team first kind of guys which I believe can not be understated. Not to mention all these moves gained an additional 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounder for next years draft. Think about that for a second and let it sink in.

That's crazy good. Alot of reasons for Bills fans to be optimistic.

This is the current and future state of One Bills Drive exactly. On top of that, Gilmore is eating a large portion of the Patriots salary cap. Bonus!

  16.

Stats can be misleading especially when you are a running a very limited offense and not taking a lot of chances.

Like I said, I give Taylor credit for not making killer mistakes and running an efficient, ball control type of offense. But let's see what the numbers look like when he has to throw the ball downfield for the Bills to come back and win a game. And if history has shown us anything the last 3 years he's not capable of doing that even with better WR talent around him compared to this year.

Or, stats can tell you exactly what you're seeing, when you don't want to see it. He is not Brady or Rodgers. What he is, is a top third quarterback that a good, well coached football team can win with. Combine that with his work ethic, character and leadership and we should be happy to have him.

  17. This is a bunch of BS.

Every player who has ever played the game wants to do well and have stats and help team win.

Yes they are happy when they win but they want to help the team win and are unhappy when they do not perform. Especially in pro sports where your performance dictates if you continue to get a paycheck. Most keep this quite and inside, but it is there.

Do you have a Marcel Darius jersey? This is a horrible take. As someone who participated in team sports for 40 years, I am hoping/glad that we never met.

  18.

Sammy Watkins is an explosive play maker.

Jordan Matthews is a possession receiver.

One guy you game plan for, and the other you just tackle when he catches the ball 5-10 yards from the LOS.

Matthews doesn't scare anyone. He's nothing close to being a true #1 WR in the NFL.

2 catches, 30 yards. His explosion today would not have helped us. 2 catches, 30 yards is "nothing close" to the performance of "a true #1 wide receiver in the NFL". We drafted him, we got teased a couple of game and now he's gone. Too many on this board are fantasizing about a mythical receiver who never existed.

  19. I agree, the play calling was something I would expect from the Bengals. You saw a team that looked as though they have a rookie head coach and rookie offensive coordinator. This game was lost when Sammy Watkins was traded. We will have to get used to it.

Sammy's two catches for 30 yards today would have won the game? Or, it it Sammy's 5 catches for 58 yards last week that would have won the game for us? Jordan Matthews has out produced Sammy every year in the NFL and the two have very similar results this year. How would was today's game lost with the Sammy trade?

  20. I'm not a newcomer, as I have been reading Bills and Sabres posts here for as long as I can remember. This is an outstanding discussion; touching on the state of journalism, economic health of publications and expectations of readers and sports fans. Thank you to the mod, your insights and comments are informed and thoughtful.

I can tell you that paying for TBN was an easy decision for me. I signed up immediately. The bottom line is that I am a Buffalo sports fan and I feel these are exciting times for us. I see the Sabres on the front side of an explosive leap forward. While the Bills are not as far advanced in their building process, I truly believe that Beane and McDermott are righting the ship, creating future good times.

I want to know our teams, their direction, the leaders and the players. I just spent the past hour reading six Sabres articles where I learned about our new players and Housley's vision. TBN contributed two quality articles to my enjoyable morning. On the football side, I feel educated and prepared for today's Bills/Panthers game. TBN has more articles in this mix than I can count (ok, I can count, 11).

My easy decision is that TBN contributes to my quality of life with their local sports coverage. $3 a month does not even get my attention. Those of you offended by Jerry Sullivan? I'm with you. I do not believe he deserves a paycheck. Negativity, condescension and arrogance is easy to deliver and a style of writing used by lazy minds. However, in the grand scheme, TBN provides information I crave as I enjoy my beloved Buffalo sports.

Thank you for this board also. Two Bills Drive is fantastic. Honestly, I would pay for access here too. I look forward to reading the posts every day.

Go Bills. Go Sabres. Good times are ahead.
