  1. I'll bow on that one and it was not a typo or spelling correction but deliberate choice by me.

Any time we get a thread which is going so long with many threads merged onto it the same points are regurgitated so many times I get nausea,

Well, then, it's not a true TBDism, in the sense that I intended. The others were written thinking they were correct as-is. Sorry I lumped yours in!

  2. The biggest game of the year last year was week 17, when they put the season out of its misery.

I'm still hopeful that Williams will live up to the contract, but he didn't last year. He only played well against bad teams. And yes, the Colts were a bad team. He disappeared in any game against good opponents. His "resurgence" after his hysterectomy, or whoever he had, was against horrible teams.

I expect him to be much better this year.

I am a firm believer that the defense's collective psyche was a mess from knowing they were playing 2013 football with 1992 schemes.

That changes with the new regime, IMO.

Go Bills! And go Mario! (And I hope Byrd stays)

  3. For 1 #1. It's obvious he does not want to be here- my guess he wants to be in Chicago. That's not too steep. Trade both # 1's, and move up to draft Jadeveon Clowney. I rest my case.

Flame away as only this board can!

I don't think you'll get flamed for this. I just question what makes it so obvious to you that Byrd doesn't want to be here?

As others have stated, he needs to sign before he is traded.

My gut tells me that he does want to stay in Buffalo, but that he is also smart enough to get as much money as he can. This is the NFL and this is America.

The Bills did the right thing, in my opinion, by not paying an OG an OT salary. That gives me confidence that they will do the right thing - monetarily.

One position doesn't make or break a team.

The Jets had Revis in his prime and won as many rings as the Bills did during those years.

That said, I want Byrd and I think he could be a top 5 guy at his position. He doesn't deserve to be the highest paid, but he deserves better than top 10, IMO.

Enjoy the quality commentary that only this board can provide.

    Go Bills!!

  4. Grantland's Bill Barnwell wrote a pretty interesting article today, http://www.grantland...d-make-playoffs

The only thing I can really point to with the Bills is their fumble recovery rate. History tells us that teams will recover about half of the fumbles that hit the ground in their games from year to year, but Buffalo managed to pick up only 30.6 percent of the fumbles in its contests last year, which was the worst rate in football.

This is a piece from the Bill's section (he ranks them at #6th most likely to make the leap). Fumble rate is something that I would have never realized if it wasn't pointed out. I find it hard to believe that he thinks the Jets/Browns are more likely to make the playoffs than the Bills.. but I guess thats my bias showing.

    I don't think it's your bias showing. I think it's the author's stupidity showing.

  5. ok...here's a wrinkle to the already established etiquette...urinals 1 & 3 are taken, dude walks in, urinal #1 frees up but just opened up so that the auto flush hasn't even engaged...what do you do? go to open #2 or go to #1 and pee on someone elses pee, or do you hesitate the couple seconds for #1 to become a 'fresh' urinal....lets assume all crappers are occupied....i for one cringe at the thought of peeing on someones elses pee.....

I hesitate and let urinal #1 become fresh. A quick booger or teeth check in the mirror and it looks perfectly natural.

  6. J. Byrd is a good safety in this era of football. Make no mistake he is not in Ronnie Lott's class by any stretch(just 1 example). Not even close. That said his forte is a ball hawk. Nothing wrong with that.

As for compensation? A first would suffice but it's doubtful any team would offer that he's just not that type of player that can put a contender over the top. Again, he's really good. So, I leave that up the GM's that orchestrate these things and do it for a living. I'm not one of them. The Bills until proven otherwise are still a bottom feeder and have proven nothing. To even have discussions that they could be pushing the cap when say Spiller becomes due and others again shows the insanity of Nix's kidnapping and open checkbook on the Mario deal. So let Byrd walk and save it for a rainy day. Perfect example of Bills thinking. The definition of very poor FO decisions that have taken place for way too long. BTW doesn't Mario get the rest of his guaranteed money this year? I believe that sum is 24,000,000.00 Great job Nix!

    3/15/2012: Mario Williams signed a six-year, $96 million contract.

The deal contains $50 million guaranteed, including a $19 million signing bonus and all of Williams' 2012 and 2013 base salaries.

Another $4 million is available through incentives.

Williams is eligible for an annual $500,000 workout bonus in years two through six.

    2013: $6.5 million (+ $8 million option bonus)

    2014: $1.9 million (+ $10.6 million roster bonus)

    2015: $12.1 million (+ $1 million roster bonus)

    2016: $11.5 million (+ $2.5 million roster bonus)

    2017: $11.4 million (+ $3.5 million roster bonus)

    2018: Free Agent

  7. That and they like to see their name in the newspaper. No one is suggesting AH is not entitled to his rights nor is there any evidence he's been denied any rights and hence this is just grandstanding. If the state of MA tossed AH into the general pop and he got a shiv in the side, the ACLU would be crying about how he wasn't adequately protected.

I think there's a way to keep someone from gen pop without putting them "in the hole." I don't think prison should be comfortable for any inmate; but to make conditions inhumane shouldn't be allowed, either.

Furthermore ... he's not in prison. He's not been convicted of any crime. That said, if this room "the size of a parking spot" has a bed, air, lights a sink and a toilet - I see no problem.
