  1. The NHL is small potatoes compared to the NFL. And unlike football players, hockey players (who play on ice) don't really care too much where they play.

As for the Sabres specifically, they did extremely well under Golisano, who was basically a caretaker owner who didn't spend a lot on the team. And in the NHL, 16 out of 30 teams make the playoffs, meaning it's harder to miss them than make them. So while it's great that Pegs is spending money, it means little unless the Sabres win championships. Hopefully they do that, and if they do, we can revisit this again.

If your referring to where their home ice is, being that its an enclosed building, I understand, but if your saying ice is ice no matter where you play then you're dead wrong.

  2. The article says "of any home market". I'm not sure what the definition of the Bills home market is, but I think it is just Buffalo. I remember when I asked the Rochester TV station if a game would be broadcast they said they could not because Rochester was not considered the home market.

But for some reason it falls into the blackout market.

    Double standards I tell ya.

  3. That's not what I meant. The set up I suggested will be all for nothing if he doesn't have HD. And then again, he can always order a long component wire and do the same thing.

    I gotcha.

Only problem I could see is if he was going HDMI or component, with a three-way split, he would likely need a distribution amplifier which is why I just suggested going coax. Simple and gets the job done easily. That is even assuming his box has an RF out. I don't know how high tech directv is making people be.

  4. I didn't read all the posts in this thread, but here's my suggestion. Go to amazon and order a very long HDMI wire. You can get one real cheap and they run about 50 meters, that should be long enough. The next thing you need to do is convert your remote to a RF setting, real easy to do just go to remote settings and follow the instructions. The RF setting will allow you to control your receiver even though you're in a different room.

All this is for naught if you don't have HD.

I disagree. Nothing beats the days of sitting in the garage in the middle of winter with the rabbit ears on the 10" tv with a deep fryer in the corner and a keg in the other.

Good call on the RF remote setting though. Complete forgot about that.

  5. What these guys said but just a heads up. Normal attenuation(signal loss) for standard RG59(typical coax/RF) cable is usually good up to 100ft before there is minimal signal loss. If you got with quad shield RG6 (a little pricier but worth it), you shouldn't have any problems.

  6. The Indianapolis Colts made a huge mistake when instead of making Peyton Manning a "exclusive" franchise tag player he is a "nonexclusive" franchise tag player. This means he can negotiate with other teams.

In a surprise move old Ralph opens his pocket book and makes an offer he can't refuse. The offer on the table is so attractive that the Colts can't match the offer and Peyton is thrilled with the prospect of playing against Brady twice a year.

Peyton comes to Buffalo and is quoted as saying "I know one thing. We are going to find out who the best QB in the league is very soon."

Whatever you're smokin, pass it my way next. I love the idea but just can't see it happening (see highlighted text for reason).

  7.

Ok Scrappy I gotta ask. WTF IS THAT!?!?!

The list that TSW junkies and others compile.

You're right, Ralph doesn't have a list and won't sell while he's alive. But that doesn't stop the fans/media from keeping a running tally of likely suspects, or wannabe owners from attempting what this jamoke is doing in the WSJ.

Ralph's past practice whenever "interested parties" have floated a desire to buy the team has been to freeze them out, which I suspect includes conveying that sentiment to Mary and his heirs regarding any postmortum deals as well.

IMO, Ralph's not looking to maximize his heirs' return at whatever point a sale occurs--and is more interested in what legacy/memory he can leave behind. Having a true-blue "football-minded" ownership group rather than a Danny Snyder a-hole that pays a dollar more will factor into the equation, I believe.

Not disagreeing with you at all but this is what worries me the most. If he is more interested in his legacy there's always the possibility that both his legacy and having a team in buffalo end at the same time.

  8. That remains to be seen...

I don't think it's even close to "clearly" though...In fact I think Fitz is the better QB right now but Sanchez has the bigger upside...And don't forget the fact that Sanchez is surrounded by Pro-Bowl caliber Players at almost every Position on Offense... B-)

And the defense isn't exactly hurt him either. They get the ball back for him in a hurry.

    Sanchez I mean. Not Fitz.

  9. Am I crazy to think that JP wouldn't be a bad choice to bring back for one of the back-up spots? I mean, it's slim pickings for QB FAs this year and you've gotta think drafting a QB is still high on this teams priorities in the coming years.

He's gotta realize by now he's a backup at best. By giving Fitz the job, you can't bring in vets that think they have a chance to unseat him in camp. Kind of a wierd position to be in.

At the very least him and Fitz can battle for best beard.
