Perhaps the FO should sign the blizzard.
The roller hockey team?

Byrd is gone. I'd expect Carrington to def. make a teams roster if the Bills don't resign him. Likewise for Chandler. Moats seems like a 50/50 type guy who will be in camp but not a 100% lock to make a teams final roster. I think the Bills will end up losing 2 maybe 3. Are there any other FA's we're missing?? Jim Leonhard comes to mind.
Jim will likely resign since someone pointed out he plans on retiring after 2014. Figure he would want to finish his career where it started. Forget who said it though in the shoutbox.
Assuming we give him an offer which I don't see why we wouldn't.
-
Those are very true. Spaced on both.
I only remembered them from WGR earlier talking about not hearing anything but both were extended offers from the Bills.
-
Not a lot of wiggle room as I don't expect us to lose many qualifying guys. Chandler maybe?
Moats is looking like Cleveland and I haven't heard anything about Carrington yet.
-
If I remember correctly he did that last year when we tried to reach a deal with him and I thought it was interesting. Its some sort of game he plays to make him seem more personable or something but yea its very noticeable how much more he tweets since negotiations ended
And he broke twitter with everyone following his tweets.

Gonna have to change my avatar to have Dan's face.

Alright brain trust
How many hours in to free agency (4pm est) will it take for Byrd to sign somewhere? And I'm saying ESPN text verification. Thatsbas official as it gets because they don't text BS.
I say Thursday 6pm est
1 dollar... ****, wrong game.

I had never heard this rule before.
He had some "veteran exception"
Kicker Dan Carpenter cannot sign EVEN WITH THE BILLS until 4pm today due to the "veteran exception" contract he signed with Bills last year.
From what it sounds like, since he was on that veteran deal, it gave the bills cap relief. Something added to the CBA for Minimum salary benefits for "older" players. That cap relief can not be applied to resigning the player that it was applied on prior to the FA. From my understanding anyways.

You mean like last week when they locked up Aaron Williams a year early?
The conventional pessimist would comment on how he has been a disappointment through his career and only shined last year due to Pettine's scheme for him. Now that Pettine is gone and he has a contract we can expect the mediocre performance that we've seen in the past.
Obviously I've been around here too long.

I think it was all for cosmetics...They were getting obvious grief from some teams when UFA's were signed at 12:01 PM in the past...Knowing there was no way those teams were not talking to agents, and therefor basically tampering, they had to do something...So they set up this window for what used to be the illegal tampering time...
Now it's just legal tampering/drive up my agents price time

Have you thought about the fact that the Bills FO might realize that Byrd really isn't a key to our defense. Our defense was growing but still solid when we didnt have Byrd. I think we can find someone to fill his "centerfield" roll more easily then people think, mainly because of our front 7. I'm a huge Byrd fan and want him back but i think he can be replaced.
To add to this concept, take a look at these stats and tell me which player should be paid over 8 million a year.
SPOILER ALERT! Both played FS for the Bills last year.

And now I would like to extend my personal thank you to SDS for opening TBD in 1996 and actually updating the design since 1996. I felt like my eyes were on fire opening that.

EJ gets one more season, if not two, to prove his worth. People need to just accept that.
They need to get through the other 4 stages first.
Fear of EJ Manuel being a bust is logical. The last quarterback that made this team look good offensively was Drew Bledsoe, and that was over 10 ago. When we as fans go through the years with Fitzpatrick, Edwards, Losman, Holcomb, Flutie, Johnson and even Van Pelt; we tend to choke on our own vomit a little bit. We also tend to jump the gun and with good reason. We're tired of seeing the team fiddle with experiments for extended periods of time that don't work. Some look at EJ and immediately get that "I told you so" attitude that he's not a superstar after starting just 10 games in his rookie season. He has no doubt had his ups and downs. Then those same fans look at another rookie in Tuel with 1 start and Lewis with 5 for the team and jump to a conclusion that they can't possibly be the answer either and that all of our QB's are horrible. Now enter this discussion going on 5 pages of Ryan Mallett. Here's a guy that's been holding a clip board for Tom Brady for 3 years. His vast resume includes 4 pass attempts, 1 completion and 1 interception TWO YEARS AGO. He's not even a veteran that's shown some sign that he may have the ability to compete. When all is said and done, REGARDLESS of what the fans want, the quarterback position is not in any way shape or form going to be a competitive situation any time soon. If by some freak chance the Bills even gave a shiny red apple to the Patriots for Mallett, I would still argue that they gave too much...
Rodgers sat behind Favre for 3 years.
Mallet sat behind Brady for 3 years.
Obviously we need to give them a 1st round pick for Mallet.
Spot on though Luxy.

I agree with what has been said above though... I can't believe we can't find at least a few more ways of coming up with plays where they are both on the field. Nathaniel Hackett said last offseason it wasn't about formations it was about finding ways of getting your 5 best skill players on the field. Well for me CJ and Fred are two of our best 5 so always having one stood on the sideline seems a waste.
And adding TJ on the field is a minus in having the best 5 on the field category. So in most situations we only have 3 of our 5 best skill players on the field. Unless they count drops as a skill.

Any news on if the Bills have reached out to any players?
CBF
Figured you would have the inside scoop on who they have called from the CFL already.
-
I went with other just to be that guy. I really like what I have seen from Goodwin. Have only seen positives in his play so far and expect him to get better.
Obviously still think FJ is the man though.
-
Many are speculating the Bills will not do anything with any of the pricier FAs until they know what the result is with Byrd.
So around 4:03pm Tuesday afternoon. Only because a 20+ page contract can take a few minutes to fax and sign.
-
But really, why sign a guy to replace the guy pulling the same stunt he did 4 years ago?
-
Byrd wants to PAID !
Byrd wants to win!
he doesn't want gift certificates for free wings at Duffs.
Well I want wins and free wings at Duffs so I can see where the negotiations are falling apart with the front office too.

...yes
The topic is, if the Bills don't sell out *every* game, they will be relocated. So, is it more likely the Bills will move if they don't sell out a bunch of seats, or if they don't sell out a box or two?
What about if they remove seats and put up stores, vendors, fan activities, etc? Would selling the same number of tickets, but being a "sellout" keep them in Buffalo?
The other option is Ralph/future owner can sell the naming rights to the stadium. Looking at even the cheapest deals it seems like most are between 1.5 - 3 mil per season. That would recoup the losses from those empty boxes/seats.
-
I'd rather see Evans than Ebron, but whatever. They'll probably fool us all and draft a safety. Or another RB.
Sounds plausible.
-
I am a little wary of Schwartz. He will be on his third team in three years this coming season and that concerns me. While I'm sure he'd still be an upgrade over Legursky he probably wouldn't be my first choice.
but we need the power of the schwartz on defense and offense.

Blaming an Agent for a players actions is stupid. I am sorry but It's the players ultimate choice to hold out or not. Eugene parker is doing his job by trying to get the players the best deal possible. If he wasn't successful at doing this he wouldn't be as high profile as he is.
I
Not necessarily. Byrd was signed to a non-exclusive tag last year which allowed Parker to talk to other teams throughout the season and see what they would be willing to pay for him if he became a free agent. It is mostly speculation but he likely could have told Byrd others will pay you what you want so don't take the Bills offer.

Can't tell if sarcasm on the drafts or not but they usually get 2 or 3 starters because they have 10-11 picks in the draft every year.
