This statement is going to be hard for some to understand. TDs score points and interception are a turnover. This I know, every TD is worth 6 points. How many points is a turnover worth? Before someone posses the obvious question, how many points did the Trent Checkwords offense generate vs the JP offense with an even worse o-line and an even worse coordinator, Fairchild vs Schonert? For extra credit, for entire games started only, how many games has Trent won vs a 3 -4 as compared to JP????

That is a possibility. Let me know when Bell is in the starting lineup :yawn:. That being said given how ill suited Walker is for the position that could be sooner than later purely due to how bad Walker is not how good Bell is. Time will tell.

SPOT ON!!!! ...Let's hope TO will bring some kind of life to this dismal offensive start to the preseason. It could further expose how bad Trent is possibly leading to a benching or plans to find his replacement during or at the end of the year. Of course TO could end up being that missing piece that I thought was the problem. That was before we played fantasy football with our O-line and completely threw the concept of continuity out the window.

Time the lines to when the QB has to move in the pocket not when the ball is thrown. Big Ben makes his line look good because he can move and doesn't go down.

I think it's sad. I got railed by people swinging from Trents nutz when I threw out numbers regarding TD, passer rating etc where Edwards was not statistically better than JP. Either Trent gets it done this year with the full year chance that JP never got and I'll be happy or the whole staff and the QB will likely be thrown out and I'll be happy. Oh, wait I forgot how we do it as the Bills. WHEN Trent gets hurt this year and Fitz plays well...they can avoid the issue by saying "well we're playing good right now and we'll see where Fitz takes us"

He is even more tentative than he was but when did he ever NOT check down? Kelly Holcomb would have been a better choice to replace JP the way this is going.

Ah yes...that's right "Trentative". Hasn't Trent and the coaching staff realized that if you can't/don't throw the ball more than 7 - 15 yds in the air the defense will pack in on you? It's like every play is trying to make red zone or goal line yardage.

Other than Edwards I would hardly classify the rest as bigger problems in comparison to losing a probowl LT in a league that puts a premium on them. How is that run game looking right now?

I also had to vent some of my frustration about that egg of a game Trent Checkdown Edwards laid. Sorry about the confusion In the future the Peters trade could benefit the team if Woods turns into a probowl guard or center. Until then, it doesn't look so good. I would be happy with a good start if they could open a hole or two in the run game.

Nope our biggest need was not LT. Unfortunately many of the problems I saw on the O-line were precipitated by the loss of our probowl LT. The bigger problem I saw was a QB that has no clue what he is doing and can't throw a ball over 10 - 15 yards in the air with any velocity. I also still saw a QB that has no clue what to do against a 3 - 4 defense. I saw a guy that couldn't start on any other team in the NFL!

Absolutely! Bills fans and many forum members were so ridiculously split on this issue that facts did not matter. If Jason Peters continues on to play at a high level and still make the probowl in the NFC some people that shouted really loud are going to look really stupid. Then they can start all of the excuses of how could they have known that he was really that good? He showed nothing to prove he deserved a raise. Then followed by, "even though he made the probowl I still thought he played like crap in 2008" and didn't deserve a pay raise when he was promoted to LT thread. It's early. But the line looks about as bad as the supposed "know nothing" experts say on TV. On top of that Edwards looks really really bad. But hey, preseason doesn't count. Nothing is more meaningless right? ZERO tds in 4 game appearances by the starting offense.

As well as the announcers I would like to see Trent hit someone in stride not standing still only to be hit immediately. The score is still 0 - 0 though and we have a turnover. Would like to see a 3rd down converted though.

I'm not worried about the D. It is what it is. At worst it should be as good as last year which was 14th overall in scoring and game stats per nfl.com. Not stellar but certainly respectable. Imagine if we get some contribution from the "money pit" Aaron Schobel and Maybin contributes something this year. Heck we could even see guys like Nic Harris and Jarius Byrd getting in there. One thing I have seen this preseason is some turnovers. If we can add that with a little bit of a pass rush top 10 is not impossible. Can't get around it, Trent has to make some BIG strides this year.

Man I am hoping for better but that is a real possibility. Our O-line will be a work in progress but we don't need a lot of time to throw, just enough. If we run the no huddle at a quick enough pace especially after positive plays like I have seen Trent and even more so Fitzpatrick do it will minimize our youthful line's faults. Of course once we get TO playing it might be night and day with 2 legit, dare I say great, WR on the field at the same time. It all comes down to two things. Trent running the no huddle quickly and challenging the defense deep.
