  1. When Bruce Smith was playing, did you care about who he was facing? Did LT care about who offensive line he was facing? Do you think Andre Johnson cares about what CB he's facing? Do you think Steelers fans worry about their defense facing the Colts as much as we would worry? NO. During the glory days, i could care less what defense we went up against because I had FAITH in our players. I didn't care who Andre was matched up against because I knew that Kelly would get him the rock.

It makes PERFECT sense. If you had faith in your players and your team, you don't worry about these kinda things. Good players on good teams just do their thing no matter the matchup.

I strongly disagree. In the glory days you can bet the Bills cared who they played and planned accordingly. Playing the Hog O-line of Washington was much more difficult than playing any other line of that era, for example. You can bet the Bills prepared to attack the weaknesses of any team they played and paid extra attention to their opponents strengths.

  2. Sorry to hear you are going, and I mean that!

Let me ask you a quick question - Did you like everyone that was on the Team when you played on the Bills? or did you think that some of them were jerks?

I bet the answer is, "Yes of course - there were jerks on the team" but as a whole the team was great."

The same is true can be said for TBD - there are jerks but as a whole this site is filled with passionate Bills fans who live and die with every first down.

For what it is worth, I only bash a player who I feel gives up on the team and their careers and do not even try to get better. (I'm referring to a former first rounder who is no longer with the team)

I will always be a Bills fan.

I hope you reconsider and post again.

    +1. Well said.

  3. Thanks for posting. This guy is getting a bum rap. He went to one of the most conservative Christian schools in the nation and was find there, passed psychological tests, etc. It's only the weakness of certain NFL owners (Ralph included) that is keeping this guy from playing. And given the awful state of our line, its absurd that we have not signed him or given him a tryout.

  4. just scooped up some tickets today, coming up from Pittsburgh, going to the game with 3 friends who still live in Buffalo. Sitting in lovely 317. We usually set up our own tailgate in lot 1 or 2, then head over to pinto ron's spot about an hour before the game.

Also coming up form Pittsburgh with another Bills fan. Tailgating across from the the ECC lots in the lot of a store I can't remember the name of.

  5. Hmmm...maybe you need to switch your sarcasm detection meter back on - of course he doesn't wear gloves in August - and yes, of course he wears gloves in December because he's a Los Gatos wuss who can't handle the cold.

As for Chan, I like the guy and admire the gesture but he best be careful about alienating fans - Chan has yet to prove a damned thing on the sidelines as of yet.

I agree. You have to win a few games before you can earn the right to tell the fans to shut up. Coach needs tougher skin. This is a football practice, not bingo night. (And no, i'm not defending the actions of the fans, which were out of place/out of line). This is the sort of juvenile coaching I expect out of Jauron, not Gailey. Instead of chastising the fans, how about getting the team together and telling them that nothing will shut up the a-hole fans more than winning.

  6. I like this idea a lot- as unlikely as it is.

Mankins is one of the best Gs in the league - so YES he is worth a 2nd rounder (think James Hardy). This would also allow us to move Wood to Center and beanch Hangartner, who becomes the backup to all 3 interior postions (we currently have no quality backups anywhere).

With an increbily solid interior, our Ts could expect lots of help on the outside with a G sliding out or TE or RB picking up the slack. Then we could add 1 top LT, and get by with the mediore talents we have at Rt (bell/Merideth) moving forward.

Thanks for the well thought out reply. I like the idea also.

  7. Yes it did. Spiller broke one for an extremely exciting TD. My money says he will do it again before the season starts, and ticket sales will increase. There is much good in this. I want the Bills to stay in WNY, and they will not if there is no profit in doing so.

That said, they still need a LT, RT, QB, and DEs that can rush the passer before they can win enough games to make the playoffs. Still, Mr. Wilson told the truth. He talked about making the team "exciting" around draft time and did just that. And, it will translate itself into bigger profits.

This post is NOT meant to be sarcastic. I admire Mr. Wilson. He is to be admired for being a financial success, and I respect the fact that he defended our great country. The man kept the only NFL Team I care about in WNY and I am truly grateful for this. And, I am happier to have Spiller than another dumbass pick ala Whitner or McKelvin.

Here's to the hope that next year, the Bills will select players who can enhance the abilities of Spiller and make the Bills a viable, strong contending NFL team!

Meanwhile, congrats Mr. Wilson on selecting a very talented player. And congrats to us loyal fans who got a rare and well deserved victory last night.

    GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone is pumped up! I like the Spiller pick also. He has a high potential of becoming a perennial pro-bowl RB. You can't pass that up in the draft, a RB like him is not around every year. Now, the Bills need to build a line for him to run behind, and find a QB, etc.[/

  8. This is certainly not to call out moderators, but has there been any thought given to how one could prevent the access of certain posters to the board? Some of the better forums out there for sports are Soxprospects.com and Sonsofsamhorn.net. While those boards probably get a higher volume of posters than this page does, they are very well respected, in large part to their ability to keep the idiots off of the site. Schilling was a frequent poster on Sons of Sam Horn and while I'm sure he got his fair share of taunts, he posted for quite awhile as far as I know.

TBD has a pretty even split between well informed posters and total idiots who like the idea of going after someone while hiding behind the ambiguity that the internet provides. I understand that if you kick someone off, they'll come back with a different user name. So, I'm not sure what to do. But, it would definitely enhance this board if the morons are kept off.

The treatment of TG was not right, classy, or what you hope to see on this message board. With that said, you have to have thicker skin if you're a journalist. You make your money from being in public and giving your opinion, so deaing with the morons who respond to your articles and opinions is part of the job.

  9. So no building for the future with you, just entertain me a little now and same crap different season  Brown and who ever they pick next year could both be busts and or take a long time to develop but you don't care about that aspect.

His point is that Edwards has zero potential, and we should build for the future by letting Brown learn for a year, and by drafiting a top prospect next season. This year, he wants to be entertained. Not what I would do, but the guy had a point.

  10. It's not as if the "schools" weren't influenced at all by who his family was. They were as honorary as if he was just granted the degrees today. Also, how about his "Guard/Reserve" record? His own commanders don't recall George. Yeah, he served. If you believe that, may God have mercy on you. If I recall correctly, George also only managed a C average in "earning his gifts". Yeah, those "degrees" were real....... Give us a break. George was nothing more than a poster child of privilege.

To deny that George Bush wasn't the least intelligent president we've had only shows an individual who is so hung in their GOP Right Wing prejudice and mindset that reality and truth are meaningless to them.

To compound matters even more, the GOP has scoured the nation for someone as stupid as Bush and they found her in Sara Palin.

That's right, instead of debating the policies of certain individuals, lets just call them stupid and make wild assumptions. There used to be a time when the President (and candidates) was/were respected, regardless of which party he/she belonged to. Not today, lets just call them stupid so we don't have to actually engage in an intellectual debate.

  11. I can't wait for this season to begin. We will finally be able to see this football team take big strides in the right direction. I feel like the Nix-Whailey system is what we have needed for 5-7 years now. A running team with a tough style of play is Buffalo's style. Dare I say 8-8 next season and the playoffs in 2011. GO BILLS!!!

Very excited for the operner, esp. against the Dolphins! I like the prediction. I'm seeing anywhere from 6-10 to 8-8, playoffs in 2011.

  12. Fans that don't like the yankees always say that "they buy the championships", but those same fans would have loved to have had Steinbrenner as their team's owner. RIP George.

Not a Yankees fan but I agree. George played by the rules, as flawed and terrible as they are in baseball.

  13. This is one of the most unreal things I've ever seen in the history of pro sports

He has to do something to try to life the spirits of the Cleveland fans. LBJ really screwed them by waiting so long to make up his mind while other FA's were snatched up. Imagine if Jim Kelly grew up in Buffalo, and decided after a while to join the Redskins (or any other team) because he wanted to play behind their nasty O-line. That's how angry Cleveland fans are right now.

  14. What a dumb comparison. Poz has been a 4-3 MLB and Woodley is a 3-4 OLB. Woodley is mainly a pass rusher who plays for one of the greatest DCs and most aggresive defenses in the NFL. Poz played in a 4-3 Cover 2. Stupid comparison but given the source, I'm not surprised.

+1 . Put Poz on the Steelers w/ Dick L. instead of Dick Jauron and watch what happens. Poz is a great player. I don't understand the mindless criticisms of him.

  15. Believe it or not, there are a few of us here. I think there's a Bills bar in Shadyside--Buffalo Blues--and one now up in Wexford (Ale House). I live out near Fox Chapel, but am moving soon to the North Hills. Where are you?

I live in the N. Hills. Are you serious, the Ale House is a Bills bar?!?!
