He wont' get much from the Jets after the Eagles traded for top corners. Although, Pettine would know how to use him and Gillmore. I wouldn't give more than a 2nd rounder, as he'd most likely be a one year-rental. We can't afford to resign him.

New England and their bandwagon fans can't win jack w/o cheating. I wish Eli Manning would tweet something about owning the Pats. The moaning from the Pats fans would be hillarious. And what was wrong w Suggs tweet, he was 100% correct!
-
Yeah, those back-to-back-to-back 1000 yard seasons with a rag-arm QB show how much he needs to improve.
Personally, I welcome Stevie speaking his mind.
+1
I have no problem with what stevie said. There should be competition at every position on this team. WR/QB especially..
I think we will get that with Doug Marrone. He is no-nonsense and wants to win. The end of "positional entitlement" under Jauron and Gailey has arrived. There is a reason so many SU players quit when Marrone came. 2 years later, they had their first winning season in nearly a decade. It's the same approach Harbaugh took in San Fran: play the best guy.
-
Oh come on you're too hard on the guy. Bruce Smith was suspended for cocaine. Should we have cut ties with him too?
No one is "lusting" over him. Just saying give him a workout. Because, although you may not like it, it can't hurt.
You are 100% correct. It can't hurt. Chan brought in QB's last year he had no intention of using because he was married to the idea of Fitz as the QB. Try him out, and still act like he won't make the team when drafting, etc. If we end up with too many good QB's: (1) what a great problem; (2) the 49ers have that problem and can trade one.
I'd take another look at Vince Young first.
VY actually performed at a high level in the NFL. He put together alot of game-winning drives, and is STILL twice the athlete and passer that ole "Purple Drank" ever was.
Sorry, but I am 100% done with Jamar-curse.
try them both out. Bring in every QB that wants to start (except those currently on the roster) and try them out!!
-
Keep drafting players who line up 20 yards from the ball and touch the ball or another player 5 times per game. That is how you draft 8-11 every year.
The Bengals and Falcons would disagree. We could do what the Bengals did: get a WR early, and trade back to grab a QB.
NO F'N WAY!
Game log:
Florida 8/85/1
Georgia 2/31/0
Alabama 1/25/0
South Carolina 3/26/0
Miss St. 2/25/1
Akron 2/20/0
Troy 9/219/1
See a pattern here? If all the DBs in the NFL were the same quality as Troy I'd say sure. But they're not. He had an NFL prospect throwing to him as well, so you can't blame it on the QB. 46 Catches for 778 Yards, and only one season of work. No thanks. I'd much rather have Terrence Williams out of Baylor 97 catches 1832 yards the year after RGIII left, not to mention 59/957 with RGIII.
Not a bad choice either. We need an elite WR early.
-
I say take a qb in 1st & 2nd.
Even better, take a QB in round 1, then trade back into round 1 for another. I like Nassib and Dysert (sp). Wouldn't mind Wilson either.
-
why would you sabotage your team in the super bowl?!?!
-
Isn't anyone else interested in the bigger picture here?
WHY THE HELL DOES WELKER HAVE A BUFFALO T-SHIRT ON?
Seems odd doesn't it?
It is very odd. Perhaps he likes Buffalo??!! It's a cool shirt.

To Lewis's credit, there are no reports of him being ANYTHING BUT an outstanding father. Taking care of his kids directly (not just leaving it to a random baby-mama). Heck, the MAIN REASON he is retiring is because his oldest son is starting college football next year and Ray wants to be at all the games!
What a monster!
Right, and you really think if this guy could still play at a high level he would be retiring? doubtful. And he committed OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE (destroying evidence) in a murder trial of his friends. This isn't some dude who went to a bar, got drunk, or engaged in Gronkoski anticts. This is not what most young people would do w/ money.
Just because I haven't seen it posted, here's a really good article form the USA today the other day that details events associated with Ray Lewis and the murders:
http://www.usatoday....r-2000/1566198/
Mostly posting because there doesn't seem to be many articles written about it.
Good quote from the article:
"Only Lewis pleaded guilty in relation to the case: for obstruction of justice, a misdemeanor. He originally was charged with two counts of murder but struck a deal with prosecutors in exchange for his testimony against two of his companions that night, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting."
Lewis never directly linked his two friends to the killings, and they were acquitted. Lewis had testified that Oakley, Sweeting and another man had gone to a sporting goods store the previous day to buy knives. Baker's blood later was found in Lewis' limo. Having fled the crime scene, Lewis told the limo's passengers to "keep their mouths shut." The white suit Lewis was wearing that night — on Super Bowl Sunday — never was found. "I'm not trying to end my career like this," Lewis said in his hotel that night, according to the testimony of a female passenger in the limo.
He didn't. For his punishment, Lewis received one year of probation and a $250,000 fine by the NFL."
-
No to Te'O. He gets blown off tackles and blocked downfield against NFL size lineman (see Alabama game).
-
How about Ryan Swope from Texas A&M? He's got decent size, at 6'0 200 lbs, he's a three year starter, and he was Manziel's top target this year. I'd like him in the third round.
Great route runner with good hands also. If he lasts till the 3rd round I'd grab him.
-
SJ is good, but i helps to have a QB who can throw catchable balls, even if they are jump balls the QB has to position the ball so his guy has the best chance of winning. I would also like a big target.

The anti-tobacco people are against it due to 2nd hand smoke. Unless Cowher is spitting it up on Sharpe I doubt they care if he increases his risk of gum cancer.
No, the PC crowd will say something like: It's a bad example for kids (who apparently have no parents), or coaches, or future broadcasters, it gives the impression that chewing tobacco is safe (even though there must be 1000 warnings on it). Notice there are no cigarette ads anymore?!?! PC crowd. It's not just 2nd hand smoke.
-
The PC crowd will go insane. There will be a Mike & Mike segment on this. There will be cries for him to go on Opera. We cannot tolerate this man making the choice to do something disgusting and unhealthy!!

Lots of Great Players have flaws, big time. Look at LT of the Giants.
Yeah.....good comparison.....obstructing a murder investigation and driving the perps away is very comparable to cocaine use in the 80's-early 90's.

I can't find anything that shows that Ray Lewis committed murder. I find many articles saying he was there and drove away with the 2 men who got into the fight with the other 2, but nothing showing he was the one directly involved. In 1 article it was stated that Lewis and his group were in the limo and one of the 2 killed walked up and smashed a bottle over the persons head starting the incident.
So we are going to take away everything Lewis has done, especially since the incident, because 4 ppl got into an altercation which just happened to be near him. And don't give me, oh he didn't step up. Ppl lie when they get pulled over for speeding. The guy witnessed 2 ppl get murdered and knew that because he was high profile he would be blamed initially regardless of the evidence.
Someone show me an article that states Lewis was the one that started or was the main person in the altercation leading up to the death of the 2 men. Or is he just guilty by association.
And after the trail when several witnesses had different stories or non matching stories to the night.
First, being at the scene of the crime and hiding evidence (his clothing) is a crime; (2) driving the perps away from a homocide makes you part of the conspiracy, which is a HUGE crime; and (3) you don't think he paid off the "witnesses" to change their stories so that no one ended up doing any jail time. PLEASE: he was there, his clothing is missing, at the very least he should be in jail for hindering a murder prosecution/obstruction of justice and conspiracy to commit murder.

I've never been able to understand how Ray Lewis has gotten a free pass in the media following his obvious involvement in an altercation that resulted in the deaths of 2 young men in Atlanta during superbowl week, 2001.
The suit he was wearing that likely had blood evidence on it has never been recovered. He settled out of court (paid off the families) to avoid a civil suit, probably fearful of having the same resuts as O.J. It's a given that he provided the getaway car for the others involved.
Of course the others involved were aquitted since there wasn't enough evidence. Well duh, the victims weren't available for testimony and Lewis, if not a participant, was the most credible witness to the event, and considering his role as chaffeur, is guilty at least as an accomplice, even if he wasn't the one with the knife.
So how is it that he still gets commercial endorsements and is fawned over by the press? Ironically, there is a large public outcry and dislike of him for his involvent, yet it's largely ignored by the media who still portray him in the same light as Michael Jordan or some other untarnished star.
I don't get it.
Agreed! And I can't take his "look at me" attitude every time the camera is around. I really hope the 49ers win. I wanted Atlanta to win so that Tony Gonzalez could retire w/ a Super Bowl ring. But it seems that ESPN just kept following the self-promoted "Ray Lewis" is retiring story. BARF.

Aside from 76* regular season games and 5 playoff games? You're right, nuthin'.
*an average of 12.7/year over 6 years.
Ask Falcons fans if that is really a dynasty. I think they averaged about the same number of wins over the past 5 seasons.
-
Going to watch Spiller amass 200 + yards rushing. No one really tries to tackle, and he will run by everyone. Can't wait to see him w/ a HC who knows how to use him (and a passing game that opens up the run game).
-
I
I strongly disagree. Like many fans I like/admire others winning teams, like the Steelers and Ravens and Packers. It's the cheating and sore loser attitude (and their insufferably arrogant coach and fans) that make me loathe them. I suspect I'm not alone in that...
You are not alone with that. That's why I hate them. Their know-nothing fans, arrogant coach and QB are too much. Went to school w/ a bunch of Pats* fans from 2000-2004. They prob couldn't even name the QB before Brady. I admire teams like the Steelers, Packers, Ravens, 49ers that can win w/o being douschbags.
-
Guess I don't have to wait 2 weeks to loose the Super Bowl. I prefer Hawaii anyway, better hotels.
-
You know, The Packers were horrendous for many years (70's and 80's, with some middling exceptions), but they not only filled their stadium, but the season tickets remained so rare that there was and is a waiting list and are more often bequeathed after death. That's what fans do, in my humble opinion. That's why I just tell people, "Remember this smile. One day my team will be good again".
You said it man!!! Go Bills and Pirates !!!!
Going through the lows, make the highs that much higher...
Agreed. It will be great when we finally get that Super Bowl win.

There are too few white players in the NFL. I think we need a rule as to how many are on each team! This whole thing is ridiculous Whaley is black, hired a white guy. Whaley will also most likely be the Bills next GM. Teams want to win and will hire the best person to do that, black, white, mixed, whatever. For example, if Tony Dungy came back this year someone would have taken him. There was one black candidate with HC experience, Lovie Smith, and he indicated that he would not consider a coordinator spot. So really one candidate.
I knew this was coming, especially after all of those candidates that were good coaches (Horton, Caldwell, and ESPECIALLY Smith) were bypassed for overhyped names. Yeah, call it the "year of the avoid retread coaches", but to me it is incredibly sad and points to a systematic racial bias, and I'm white. Not hiring Lovie Smith was a HUGE alarm for me.
It was the year of the avoid hiring a retread coach. That's why Lovie was not hired. Not a red flag. Do you even know what systematic racial bias is? I think Rob Ryan was fired because he was black. Oh, no, wait, he was white. If he were black I'm sure ESPN would have a full episode about his firing and try to blame it somehow on race. The race card: great for ratings.
This paragraph from the linked article caught my attention:
Caldwell won his first 14 games with the Colts in 2009 before losing the final two regular-season games after restingand most of his starters. The Colts reached the Super Bowl only to lose to the. Indianapolis went 10-6 the following season and captured another AFC South title, but lost to the Jets in a wild-card game. With Manning sidelined all of last season, the Colts went just 2-14 and Caldwell lost his job.Which detail jumps out? Peyton Manning? This was clearly an example of The Emperor Has No Clothes. The issue with Jim Caldwell not getting any interviews has more to do with Jim Caldwell than a failure of the Rooney Rule.
I bet you're right. A public comment to "look into it" could very likely be a PR move to settle down any potential angst.
Exactly. Tony Dungy ran the Colts, then the team was handed off to a guy who never had to coach because Dungy and Manning did all of that. On a random note, the NFL should have a lotto like the NHL and NBA, would be much more entertaining!

Nix missing the boat with LB talk?

Dion Jordan from Oregon would also seem to fit what they are looking for. Currently projected in the 1st-early 2nd. Generally lower 1st.
