  1. Wow....I admit I haven't been a big Jauron fan either, but jeez...your absolute statements simply show how you put your emotional stamp on someone instead of letting things play out, then making an objective evaluation....Let the season play out. You might be pleasantly surprised with the results.
  2. I jumped on the bandwagon during the '89-90 season, growing up in Charleston, SC. My eight grade algebra teacher was from Buffalo, and talked Bills football every Monday. Back then it was easy to get hooked becuase they were on nationally so much, and because of all the playoff games...I've been hooked ever since. I'm currently in the military, stationed in the FL panhandle...about 3.5 hrs from New Orleans...In total I've made 3 trips to Buffalo for home games, and had a blast each time. I also continue to burn the $270 each year for the Sunday Ticket...
  3. Who cares...why are so many people on this board concerned about what others think of Buffalo?
  4. Someone posted a topic getting us to vote Fred Jackson in for NFL Weekly countdown....well he got in as #10. Check out the video. Action Jackson I love the way this guy runs. It reminds me of Roger Craig of the 49ers back in the day. Also notice the push our line is getting on a couple of those plays...AWESOME!
  5. Not to discredit what some others have said about TO opening things up....but I definitely think that out lighter, leaner, meaner guys are making a difference...during the preseason we were left for dead considering all the changes being made, but they ended up cutting the fat that's been dragging them down. I think that coach Kugler is doing a great job with these guys...and the system he's using is playing to their strengths. I think its very simliar to what the Denver Broncos used. Only time will tell, but right now its a promising start.
  6. not too long ago we had some posters saying he couldn't throw the deep ball...some even said that was more reason for Losman to get the starting job back...
  7. I'd agree with this...did you see him during the preseason...he was sucking big air from the no huddle tempo.
  8. I'll go point by point 1. Maybe the reason he's averaging 16 yds per is b/c of the low number of receptions...for an observer to say FJ doesn't get enough pass looks, doesn't seem to be paying attention. 2. Screens were a focus against NE. PA looked to be a focus against the bucs. These types of plays are situational, and don't work if the opponent doesn't take the bait. My opinion, I think they worked both types of plays in sufficiently. 4. 17 pts seems a little low, until you consider the opponent...26 points is a significant contribution...unless you're the Saints. 5. conflicts with pt 1 in your list. you say he should target jackson more in passes, but then you think he keeps him in too long. I really disagree with your post overall.
  9. i would attribute some to TO, but at the same time, these guys have held their own, and I think they are only going to get better. I think Coach Kugler knows what he wants is shaping this unit into that. Last year the line was a unit with an identity crisis. They were big and slow, but not mauling. This year they are smaller, more athletic, and have a lot of movement assiated with their plays. I think it's very similar to what the Denver Broncos used to run. From what I've seen, they've been giving trent more time to throw, and they've been getting to the second level on run plays. Yes TO recieves more attention, but at the same time these guys seem are fitting a system I think will work in Buffalo.
  10. One thing I never understood was the how the Bills O-line players didn't seem to match the scheme they were expected to play. Until recently, the Bills had the 2nd heaviest O-line in the NFL, yet they were not a mauling or grinding type offense. This year with the implementation of the no huddle, the ejection of a 368lb tackle, a 345 lb tackle, and 326 lb guard, maybe we have the personnel to match the system that coach Kugler is trying to implement. I don't think any of our starters are over 310 lbs. Notice how there seems to be a lot more movement with pulling guard/center, or screen plays. Should we give credit where credit is due and say the Bills matched the right type of players for the right system...hence the current success in the running and passing game? Needless to say, I like where they are going, compared to where they were. thoughts?
  11. The Patriots have a really good scheme, and the players to make it happen. Our DBs back off and they throw it short. Our DBs come up, Randy Moss beats em deep. It's very flexible. I don't think it's a complicated scheme, it's just reacts faster than the defense...In the military, we call this getting inside the enemies OODA loop. Observe, Orient, Decide, Act...
  12. I still think Steve Johnson should be playing instead of Josh Reed. Look at his size compared to Reed...plus he's got very dependable hands....
  13. In an effort to get the most athletic players on the field, why not put Kawkia in the middle, and put Aaron Maybin on the outside? Think about it. They could almost use him as a "monster-back"...a la Terrell Suggs. You move him around to different positions to rush the QB, but he's athletic enough to drop into coverage, chase down the runner, or simply blow up plays as necessary. This way you also have your other rush capabile DE's out there, and you add a little unpredicability. Thoughts?
  14. Good for him. I would do the same thing. If he doesn't press charges, it sets a precedent. some fans take things too far, and feel it's their right to do so. There are legal boudaries for a reason, and these guys crossed it... Let them get their slap on the wrist, and move on.
  15. AVP has to get creative to get them the ball....period! We have enough weapons to dictate to the other team what we want to do. Bellicheck is famous for taking away your best weapon and forcing you to play without him. This last game he took away both...we did well, but we still need to find a way to get the ball into Evans and Owens more often.
  16. what an idiot...he's lucky the offer is still on the table...he's pretty much useless this year, yet would still be taking home gamechecks. let him come back next year and watch Dez Bryant and the other receivers get picked ahead of him.
  17. Wow. I think this article really addresses an issue with the Bills. It's that sinking feeling you get as a fan when the othe team is going for that game winning drive or when the bills are on trying to close somethign out. I have more memories of Losman or Bledsoe fumbling the ball at critical moments. Or of Jacksonville (the Ernest wilford catch), NE, the Jets, the Browns, Broncos, or the cowboys winning games that were in our grasp...they were games that the Bills should have won. This team needs to exude winning confidence, because it's been a while since they've had it. This comes from coaches putting players in positions to win, and giving the players a chance to execute in the most favorable conditions. Remember how the Bills didn't gaurd against the sideline routes in the Dallas MNF game...or how Losman was bootlegging while holding the ball too long against the Jets....how many times have we seen Jauron simply watch the game unfold instead of coaching up his guys for the situation at hand. I think this team has the talent, but they have to be coached to play smart and be put in a position to win...it's only been one game, but it looks as if AVP might bring that...for Jauron, I think we're stuck with him and his coaching is going to cost us games.
  18. The lineback gets deeper than usual for a middle zone, but safeties still have deep halves in a regular cover two shell...cover three means they have deep thirds, and cover 4 means the deep area is split into 4...all by definition of the coverage shell. the inherent weakness of the cover 2 shell is the handoff between a linebacker getting a deeper middle zone and one of the safeties taking the deep responsibility in the middle. the bills still should've adjusted after the first TD.
  19. Any linebacker matched up against Watson, same guy who ran down champ Bailey, is a mismatch...As an offense I'd take that any day.
  20. shoulda had safety help too....hence the cover 2, with deep halves on the field....figured he would've been ready after the first TD to watson
  21. The Bills still have to find a way to get him the ball. They need to move him around, throw some deep balls for him to chase down, and also work some short stuff (screens, slats, drags) where they get him the ball. I think if the pats can get two of their top 2 WR's the ball 12 times apiece, we can do it too....sometimes dictating to the defense vs taking what it gives you will make this offense special.
  22. The argument was he wasn't an attacking linebacker...most posters on this board would complain about him making tackles downfield. I was called an idiot more than once for suggesting that his it doesn't help when you lose Pat Williams as your DT...hence the lack of production from the linebackers
