  1. Although the odds may be a little against us doing it, I have confidence in this organization to hands down give us an advantage at accomplishing this venture. I would say that the odds of us losing all the games the next three years is better than us making the playoffs!
  2. Could you imagine the impact that Shawn Merriman and Randy Moss "could" make if the Bills were able to get both waived players? Maybe it wouldn't work out, but it's probably a pipe dream with Mr. Wilson having closed zippers on his pants!! But, I bet you could get a draft pick for each player at the season's conclusion and that would really go a long way to help our "draft our future mentality"...Think about it??????
  3. Yeah..I agree.seems to make sense to me, which means the Bills will not do it and probably will not comment on it. If they do they will say something to the effect that "We are aware of the players availability, but have decided not to go in this direction" Ahaaa! It just came to me!!! I bet because the trade deadline has passed..that if we pickup Moss we may have to pay the balance of his contract for at least this season, and therefore we cannot trade him until after the season is over! I realize that it's possible that Moss has reached that wall and is possibly finishing up his career, but if he still has a few good years left why not give it a try like T.O.... After considering it carefully I still say go forward and pick him up and possibly upgrade the position and see if you can dump him for a draft pick after the season has concluded if he doesn't work out. Besides Ralph's money what is their to lose? It shouldn't be hard to clear a roster spot if necessary! lol... Can you say release Aaron Maybin, or Donte Whitner, or Ellison, or whomever??? It's a no-brainer even though Moss has some similar characteristics as T.O. Who knows we may actually win a game or two??? Wait a minute! Is Ralph committed enough to try and turn this ship around like he claims to spend money on a losing team if it might net us an extra draft pick at season's end?????
  4. On a similar note..I was thinking Bryce Fisher...wasn't he in the airforce or something as an officer and I don't remember him playing on the Bills even though we waited around for him for quite a while.
  5. Okay I've read your now...and I agree about Luck so far if he comes out..I still would select a QB in the first 2 rounds, even if it means developing him for a year or two! I would prefer luck by far, but regardless I personally want a new face in the mix that isn't a 7th rounder, or stale bread from the cheeseheads! I hope Fitzpatrick continues his improvement and superb performances. Yes, I would also be open to him starting next season if he continues his performance in a sustained manner over the next 10 games! I wouldn't spend picks on RB or WR next year...don't get me wrong..more is better, but Easley really impressed me (even though he's injured) and I would like to see what he can do in the longterm at WR. On second thought, a WR in the 5th round, a high-risk/high reward player maybe! Do most of our linebackers stink or is it the coaching at that position that is subpar? I don't know..can't even remember the LB's coaches name! But regardless we probably need one or two LB's next draft. Definitely need a DT.,,A big stout guy in the middle who can plug things up and stop the run!! That should help tremendously and immediately add some wins! I would still want an OLT drafted high & either move someone else to RT where Cornell Green was before he went out...or draft someone. I'd like to think the Bills will reconsider and utilize free agency to pick up a quality OLT or ORT ! We lose players to FA, so it's someone else's turn to! Ralph needs a full pocket of cash for that to happen though, and I don't think that he will splurge! I'm sure there are other needs..maybe a Safety, a true shutdown corner as I have not been impressed this year with are CB's. They get burned too often...it could also be the design of the defense which has changed a couple of times. A lot to consider, and maybe it's not really that simple, and it may depend on many factors including Ralph's sincerity to REALLY try to right this ship, as it has been sinking for quite a while!
  6. Since it's simple..I'll give mine before reading the post and see if it is similar to your post: 1. Draft the best QB in the first round of the draft! 2. Draft the best OLT if any good ones are left in the second round, if not then draft the best (and probably the biggest) DT in the second round! It's really about that simple, except everyone including myself said the same thing last year, and it had no bearing on the "best available player regardless of positon" mentality of the Bills management.
  7. But the master of giving up nothing to the opposing team is Bellicheat! He doesn't give one iota to anyone, and makes your team sound like a Probowl squad!
  8. It's funny you should say about the defensive secondary as I was thinking while reading your post that the Bills will probably squander their first round pick with a CB or Safety or something like that and tag him as "the best player on the board". I hate that mentality, but the Bills (Nix) is a firm believer and that methology as proven last year by selecting C.J. Spiller. It is ironic a year into this regime and our two top priorities remain the same! QB and OLT. We were all talking the exact same thing in the first round. Bills fans were talking about Bulaga, Trent Williams, Claussen, and a few others! I almost lost it when they selected a RB. Isn't ironic that C.J. Spiller actually helped cost us this game today with his key fumble in our own end which led to a Ravens TD. I am covering several of my thoughts in one post and a little off the topic, but I was really proud of the Bills offense in general and the coaches designed a good "non conservative" game plan. I really think that Ryan Fitzpatrick is getting better with experience and am interested to see what he can achieve by years end. He's passer rating is over 100 so far this season which is better than Jim Kelly's rating for his career! I still would draft a QB high in the draft and work him in next year (if there isn't a lockout)..dependent on Fitzpatrick's performance! It just goes to show everyone that it really was Trent Edwards that was a big part of the offensive problems. Not the only problem, but a big part of it! They still need to address the offensive line, but Fitzpatrick functioned well, even with a less than average o line...Evans and Stevie Johnson are both capable...Their production out of the TE positon is still weak..and it will be interesting to see if Shawn Nelson develpos or not, and if they utilize the positon in the future the way that most teams do. One thing is clear though...a QB is a vital position on offense and when a QB takes control, and plays well..the whole offense looks better! Thank God Edwards is gone!!!!!!!!! The next thing that would make me very happy is if Donte Whitner was gone, and also Tom Modrak! But at least we got rid of T. Edwards, James Hardy, M. Lynch, and a few others! Addittion by subtraction!! GO Billz!
  9. Well game is in the books! It was a prediction of daredevil proportions, and it was almost pulled off! Never thought the Bills would be in this game, and I feel like I'll say it anyway, "YOUR THE MAN" Good prediction that was a penalty or two away from becoming reality, a call or two by the refs off, an fumble by C.J. Spiller away from happening!!! So close and yet so far! I was glad we gave them a heckuva a game, and made Ray Lewis eat his words for at least a while! I would be interested in seeing what the Ravens and Lewis think of the Bills now?? We gave them all they could handle..If we could just cut the run down to average standards we would've easily won that game!!! Good Job Fitz, Stevie J, Evans, O-Line, Kyle Williams! Made it a fun game to watch! I'll remove the paperbag this week at least!
  10. I hope you are right! But I am looking forward to revisiting this post on money as I think Baltimore 31 Buffalo 10 is closer to reality!!! That's if we're capable of getting 10 points? Just let me know that "I'm the Man!" monday if I'm a lot closer on the prediction! Like I said...I want you to be right!!! I will gladly tell the Bills Nation that you called it! If your right!! lol
  11. I agree 100% I have been saying all this for so long, and it's refreshing seeing someone else with thes same views..Just the other day I was saying I would forfeit the entire 2011 NFL Draft selections in order to have Bill Polian as our GM once again! That is how important the management position is in the NFL ! Good organizations generally repeatedly are good for decades and bad organizations generally are bad most of the time. Pittsburgh, New England, Indianapolis are all clearly symbolic of this viewpoint. Generally..Cleveland, Buffalo (post-polian), Detroit are all bottom feeders! Detroits getting better but I doubt they will have sustained superior performance over the long haul. I do not understand why Tom Modrak is still here, except that he is probably part of the good ole boy network that remains. I believe that he has ties to Doug Whaley which explains why his departure isn't imminent. It's just poposterous that he remains! My final point, and I'm interested on how you feel about this..The bills generally do not resign the free agents that are looking at getting a big contract in free agency. ie: Nate Clements, Antwoine Winfield, Pat Willliams, Marcellus Wiley, Jabari Greer, etc...many more over the years! Sam Cowhart...etc..If you already have a depleted roster by injury, lack of quality players, depth etc...why would you create more holes. How can a team build solely through the draft, yet create more holes purposely on their roster to save money. How is a team suppose to ever get better if they are creating more holes besides the obvious ones that already exist??? I have nothing to do this year but put on my billz bag!
  12. Gotta agree with that statement! I (and probably half of you out there) could do a better job selecting the Bills drafts over the past several years armed with 2 or 3 NFL Draft Magazines, 1 pen, a phone, a ream of paper, and a cup of coffee. It's the shame the Bills organization spends hundreds of thousands of dollars..(probably more) on scouting, interviewing players, evaluating film, etc.....and refuse to select players of substance like Orakapo, Ngata etc...and instead select players like Mike Williams, Donte Whitner, Aaron "bust" Maybin, and countless others who've been through the revolving door. At the end of the day we always can count on hearing Joe Klopestein's name either being released or resigned as that seems to be the best that this organization can do! Joe who you say? He's been a transaction so many times for the Bills..either being released or brought back...yet he never really plays, but then again neither has most of our draft picks from '10 !!! So what happened to Carrington, Wang, Troup..(yeah, he may finally start this week!)..all these IMPACT players that we drafted...lol... I'd forfeit the 2011 NFL Draft if we could get Bill Polian back as our GM..and we'd still be further ahead of schedule than we would be by letting Nix, Gailey, Modrak, and the crew mess things up once again!!! Not a big fan of this Good OLE Boy network from Georgia Tech neither! I think it's a bad joke that Gailey was out of football all together for a couple of years sitting on his couch, sipping on ensure and wearing depends while playing Madden video games when a low bidder like the Bills asked him if he'd be interested? Gailey said "sure" as long as I can bring all my former Georgia Tech coaches along and give them a free ride. Curtis Modkins included..and I'll make him my Offensive Coordinator even though he has no experience in that position at any level of football. But, I'll put him in that new position in the NFL without experience...But I'll do his job for him and call all the plays myself, because I'm stuck there on the sidelines anyways and have nothing better to do. I'll bump everyone on my staff up one positon from what they were when they were on my Georgia Tech staff..why not? Who needs NFL experience at this level anyways? yEAH, you may sense the sarcasm..but it's really not far from the truth..and our Bills are pathetic! How are you going to build through the draft when you don't resign your top free agents like Jabari Greer, Nate Clements, Antwoine Winfield, Pat Williams etc...??? So each year you create more holes and plug them with players you drafted, never getting better because your filling new holes, while other holes and deficiencies are numerous!!!! The whole philosophy of the Bills only works if you keep all your players that are up for free agency! Then again who wants to keep the majority of the current roster anyways? So, it should be purge, spend on free agency like NEW England, Indy and the Jets do, and improve your squad as well with stellar drafts like the teams above do each year! It's a shame that N. England continues to draft better than us each year even though their picks are a lot lower than ours each year! They somehow manage to get an extra pick in the first round most years and have 2 once again in 2011. Well enough said for now about the hapless Bills! I think that the current management of the Bills is terrible including Russ Brandon for all the past credit he has received. I think this project gets much worse and this whole crew will be gone in 2 or 3 years! I don't think Nix's philosophy works if the owner is not willing to spend to keep the players here that are up for free agency. I don't think Nix'S Philosophy works if you continually miss on selecting the right players and the right positions in the draft. I don't think Nix'S Philosophy works if you stick to the Mentality of the best player in the draft versus positional needs when determining your selection. So if the best player available in 2011 is a CB, are we going to pass on a QB and select a CB? According to Nix's philosophy that is exactly what would happen, and the proof is in the pudding as displayed when we selected C.J. Spiller instead of a QB, OLT,or WR with our first round pick when we are in dire need to fill those positons! What more can I say than..I sure wish Bill Polian was our GM !
  13. Could you imagine if we had Ngata and Orakapo! They both fell to us and we declined to receive them...sounds just like when we win the coin toss!!! I love our Bills...but we're a dumb organization!
  14. lol...your probably right..and I agree about Nix/Gailey co. and the rest of the good ole boys like Tom Modrak etc...screwing up everything! Great point! Probably enough damage done for year 1 under Gailey! Thanks Big Cat (I think..lol) This team just annoys the heck out of me! I love being a Buffalo Bills fan, but really wish someone would push the fast forward button on my time machine!!!!
  15. Yes, I did realize that...I just figured it wasn't necessary to state the obvious. Look, the Bills lack in quality players overall, but they do have a few players that could help some teams now, that are borderline playoff teams. Lee Evans, Fred Jackson may be two of those players that could make a difference. If the deal is very fair, I'm sure teams would've strongly considered a trade for picks. Possibly that happened, but usually interest is reported in the media in advance, so I'm inclined to think that nobody was on the trading block to begin with. Also, not every team is in Buffalo's positon now! St. Louis is improved..they have their future QB, Detroit is improved and have several young players that have excellent potential, etc...Carolina and Cleveland may be the only other teams that is in such dire straits at the moment. I agree that there quite possibly wasn't any interest in any of our players, and that doesn't say much for the quality of our entire roster including Lee Evans, Fred Jackson, Marcus Stroud or whomever included. I think the frustration is showing from fans who have been optimistic, and also fans that feel they are realist and have leaned heavily on negative opinion of the Bills like myself! I am guilty of that, but to some degree feel justified based on our past and current history. There is nothing more than I want football related than the Bills heading in a positive direction, but overall I just don't feel great and have few expectations. Even in the upcoming draft..the so-called experts have done nothing in the past to make me feel comfortable that they would make the right selection even if they had the very first pick in the draft! The Bills organization seems to differ with popular opinion on the general consensus on player evaluation, and I think it is more likely they'll select the next Ryan Leaf if facing the prospect of deciding between two QB's in the draft!
  16. You've got to be kidding! The NFL Trade deadline came and passed without the Bills making a whisper! How could such a lousy organization sit idle on a day where they could've picked up some draft picks. After all that is their self declared modem of rebuilding this team. They don't believe in high profile free agents generally, so it's practically their only means to replenish a depleted lineup of castoffs. The Bills management again showed me that they are slow to act, if they act at all, and are not willing to make quick, decisive, actions to change the course they are on. What are they trying to prove by sticking with this roster. It's not like they are going to make the playoffs, sniff the playoffs, or even win 8 games! They'll be lucky to win a game or two, and right now that's far from a sure thing! Will Marcus Stroud, Lee Evans, Fred Jackson be viable part of the team when it's rebuilt in 3 years? Probably not..2 if not all 3 will be in the retirement line! I'm sure someone would've giving us at least a 3rd or 4th rounder for one of those guys? What it is though..is that Buddy boy and Chan Gailey know that they probably won't be around in 3 years on this team if they don't win some games soon! So they rather strive for marginal seasons with fans having false hope than go have a fire sale, and really build this team from the ground up! I don't like the job Buddy Nix has done so far, and figure Tom Modrak probably has his paws in there somewhere! The Draft was lousy...the picks pretty much don't play hardly at all if they are even activated! (Except for Spiller) which was an odd choice when reviewing the Bills need of a OLT and QB, WR, LB's, DT, RT..etc.....All they keep showing me is their incompetence and they sound stupid saying that they don't believe in the big name free agents! Well N.England does and so does the Jets, Washington, Indy, etc...and which organizations are better off?????? These guys are idiots!!! 1-15 this year....3-13 next year....4-14 the following year which will probably be 18 games! Then we'll clean house again...try to find an old coach who is out of football and on his couch playing Madden...and we can start the lowest bidder process after we talk about maybe getting Cowher, Dungy, Gruden etc....It's a continuation of the circle of self-destruction that never seems to stop! It just goes round and round and passes through different coaches hands..rather it's Greg Williams, Mularkey, Jauron, Gailey...My guess is it'll be Tom Coughlin next after he's retired...and has been out of football for a while! Only time will tell! For the optimists out there that were everywhere in the preseason voicing their optimism and denouncing my negativity...Where the heck are you all now?? Hiding under a rock? I don't care if you voice your opinion now...but please tell me the details...as to why we should feel positive about this current team, and the direction that we are going as an organization...Where are you TRENT Edwards backers now? You 3-4 defenders???? There were many of you who ridiculed me..and I told you that I would let you know that I was on base with my pessimistic 5-11 prediction in the preseason...which actually looks quite good now considering where we are sitting. I'm here...please tell me how good we are...the coaching...the management...CJ Spiller being an immediate impact player...M. Lynch and how he was going to rebound...all that stuff...Where are you all?? I want to feel good about this team...please give me some reasons as I just don't have any right now! My kids went to a halloween party at the fieldhouse tonight..and they had Troup, Coleman, and someone else wearing a former players number..and someone else..My kids asked me if they were on the Bills because they never heard their names on the t.v. on gameday when we watch the games...I just kind of laughed and told them that most of them were rookies and haven't played much...My kids kind of didn't know these players were on the team...How pathetic of a draft class is that?? I'd trade our whole team for the hiring of Bill Polian, or the drafting of the Next Peyton Manning wouldn't you?????????????????
  17. Like u said he's cheap...and that's the same reason why that Joe Klopestein or whatever his name is keeps getting released and brought back. I think that guy may be a TE..I don't know, he may not know..but the Bills love being on the cheap! I think this team is going to get worse before it gets better! I think this team may become the worst team in the NFL and may not win a game 2 years in a row! Which probably would be a record! I don't believe in this organization at the moment, the management, the ownership, the coaching, and the sad thing is I don't think the players believe in any of it neither, and that shows on the field and on the sidelines!
  18. I agree with everything you've said!! The only concern I have is if any of the potential playoff team(s) have much interest in any of our players that may be on the trading block? -I would gladly trade away Aaron Maybin for (I hate to say it) a 5th or 6th round pick! -I would also trade Donte Whitner for a 4th, possibly 5th round player -I would trade probably about 20 other players if not more without blinking! The thing is, if these players failed on a team that is bad as our Bills..why would anyone want our castoffs? I think other teams would be interested in some of our better players based on past years performance more than this years performance. -I think that Lee Evans would have some demand in the market, and that it would almost be unrealistic to think that Lee Evans will be an impact player for us by the time this team possibly becomes a competent and competitive team. I don't think we could squeeze a 2nd rounder for Evans, but we could get a 3rd rounder all day long. -I think Fred Jackson could net us a 4th rounder, but I also think (even though he's getting up there in age) that he still has a lot of running left in him. -Marcus Stroud may be a desirable player for a team making a run this year? But, I believe he is getting up there too, and may net us a 4th or 5th round pick. Whatever moves we make or don't make will speak volumes about the management of this team! I mean if your going to supposedly develop your team on almost exclusively through the draft, then you better have a lot of draft picks, and pick'em well. The verdict is still out on last year, but I'd give the Bills a C as a grade for last year if I'm feeling generous. I personally hated our draft, and was extremely agitated by it's close. We need to put just as much emphasis on positional needs as we do with our mentality of the best player on the board regardless of positon approach. Otherwise, we'll end up with another running back and a cornerback in the first 2 rounds, and this will only lengthen the rebuilding project ahead !!!!
  19. Like "Yesterday"....I'm going to add a few for consideration: Which song fits the best of the one's below??? On the Road Again- (Willie Nelson)- Toronto games sure don't feel like a home game! Dream On- (Aerosmith)- Bills fans eternal optimism! Beat it! (Michael Jackson)- My thoughts about Aaron Maybin.. Tragedy! (Bee Gees) 2010 Bills Season! Nowhere Man (The Beatles) What happened to Jairus Byrd???? Cool Change (Little River Band)..thoughts if our first two picks in 2011 is QB, & OLT ! R.E.S.P.E.C.T (Aretha Franklin?) Something the Bills don't get!!! Too Much Time on My Hands(Styx)-Me,wasting too much time thinking about the Bills
  20. Yeah, I could envision all that possibly happening..especially the Bills ending up 15th selection... You know I was wondering the same thing..but I hear on the radio somewhere that they would most likely have the 2011 NFL Draft as planned and that the draft process itself would be no different than every other year, it's when you get to the 2012 draft that it gets tricky if there is no 2011 season. At least that was my take on things. True...but somehow we would probably mess that up as well...lol Made me laugh out loud...but I sure wouldn't be shocked! Now that is an idea I didn't consider..yet after thinking about it..it has some merit and was an intriguing suggestion! Great job I liked it!
  21. Although premature I though it would be real interesting to conjure up ideas as to how the NFL would conduct the 2012 NFL Draft if the season ends up being a lockout. I don't think the NFL would skip a draft class so I would imagine there would be one. So I'll add my 2 cents and add what I think could happen for the 2012 draft: #1 My favorite choice so far is that whatever the draft order was for the 2011 draft would be repeated, hopefully netting Buffalo the top pick two years in a row!!! QB 2011 (A year to learn the playbook?) and a OLT 2012! Wouldn't that revive a dead offense. #2 Another option would be a lottery of sorts to determine the 2012 NFL Draft..which means we'll probably end up with the 32nd pick and New England first!..especially if Bellicheat were to do the coin toss...lol #3. Another option could be reverse order from the previous year's draft. Yikes! #4. Another option could be Alphabetical order which I seriously doubt! #5. Another option could be based on worst 5 or 10 year record which would put us in the top 10 for sure! Well, that is enough fuel to start the ideas...have fun! Vote for which option you think would be the most likely, and feel free to think out of the box!! Go Billz Oh yeah! I vote for the first option...wouldn't 2 #1 picks be astounding!!!!!!!!!!
